Thanks, Rick and Melissa. In mid 1996, I bought one of your Diawa Power Mesh Crankin' Rods which was one of a set you designed. Your performance in the B.A.S.S. Invitational February of 1996 is kind of what spurred me on to purchase the rod. I competed in that event, and you had a 12-8 largemouth the first day, and other hawgs and finished 2nd to that darn Bud Pruitt....Just kidding about Bud, but I know you also finished 3rd to him in Alabama in 1995. On the information card which came attached to the rod it shows your photo, and says, among other things, "They feature a slow-reflex combination fiberglass Graphite Power Mesh blank. Their slower action enables bass to inhale crankbaits deeper. Works crankbaits with full action. Shock-absorber action prevents fine wire hooks from tearing loose". The model on the info card says TD LT 7', But on the actual rod, it says MODEL NO: TL-701-1RB. Other info says 7' 3/16 - 1 1/2 oz. 8 - 25 lb. TEAM DIAWA LT Light and Tough by Rick Clunn. I still use the rod and it is in very good condition.
Back of the boat is great! All you have to do all day is concentrate on catching fish. You don’t have to control the boat or fret about where the next spot is. I love the back of the boat though I am not there often lol
Hey rick was that the same rod as the tds or tdx models ? Ive been looking for a particular rod from the mid 90s black with gold eyes and a cork handle and it had tds or tdx on it. Those rods really didnt allow the tourqe to get to your fingers, hands, wrist, forearm and elbow. When the crankbait would come thru buckbrush it had the best slow motion feel coming thru that stuff. I just want to measure out the handle placement and eyes and see if a rod maker can duplicate it. My guess it had a lot to do with the rebound
I always treated my co-anglers as if the back of the boat was the front of the boat, once the guy in the back said to me what are you doing and I said I want you to have a good cast that's when he realized why I had turned the outboard 45* opposite of the bank .
There is the otherside of the back of the boat in an little deeper water as long as it's off the side and in the back of the boat. I think I will try to get an co angler this coming up year now. Me and whoever will talk and I will actually teach them because all fish swim an if any angler puts that and all theses other variables together they got it along with the right gear equipment tackle and terminal tackle rod's lines and reel's they got it.
