Cheers! Like you, I've got the Benchdogs square that I bought last year. Again, I just don't like using it onsite because of all them sticky fingers. Never used to be so bad, but as a hired gun - couple of weeks here, a month there, well it's a shift up in smoke. I've got the Triton that I bought years ago, and it's okay if you dial it in with some gaffer tape, otherwise it is a couple of mil out over the width of a 8 by 4. Your solution would work well - particularly with the addition of a shoulder, as suggested in another comment.👍

Great idea - it might be worth adding another block on the top that rides against the rail edge, that way you wont have to square it up every time.
