As an Australian, it doesn't seem like this woman's issues are cultural so much, it's more that her in laws are conservatives and old school. While I definitely know Australian's like this, there are millions, literally, who aren't. There are millions of American's who are conservative and old school. I don't know what part of Melbourne this woman is living in, but I think she should move to the lefty, open minded areas where she can connect with people more like her. It honestly came across to me like it was her that was putting the cultural and class stuff onto the situation, and it came across a little arrogant, like this enlightened middle class American is being so abused by this backward Australian family and kind of painted us with this broad brush.
Moshe didn't say who he loves and now I am completely confused

My experience with Australian men who were here in the U.S. has been like this. It takes awhile for their biases and bigotries to really surface, and when they do it's pretty bad. They play along for quite awhile before they let loose with all the bad, very macho, racist, misogynistic, homophobic stuff. And then there's kinda no going back. It's sad. And yes, I'm sure plenty of Aussie men are not like this. At least I hope so.

I downloaded Casey's book after watching this. Really enjoyable, but didn't notice anything written about her Hotwives tv series. Those shows were very funny so I'm wondering why it wasn't mentioned.

I think people forget this is a comedy podcast and you don’t have to agree that every joke is funny.
I listen to this podcast BECAUSE it’s comedy and they’re hilarious. But let’s say they had a lil survey about black men in this episode, you might want to comment. Because there’s legit trauma you as a black man have to deal with

As a rare cancer survivor that even though I received a clinical trial drug in hopes it doesn't come back to kill me, but whose also a recluse so being Cancelled wouldn't also be devastating or detrimental to my life...they both wouldn't harm me.

The first caller was indeed abrasive. "I had to define feminism for them", how completely condescending. And "we don't hit kids now" is absolutely asking for an argument. I personally don't believe in hitting kids but I also know that there are still many people/cultures who do and while I have no problem expressing my beliefs in mixed company, I don't take her 'this is a given and if you don't think like me, you're a simpleton' attitude. I don't believe that her beliefs are what caused her to become excluded from events, but rather her passive-aggressive and judgmental attitude was. Her listing their jobs as if that's supposed to be a giveaway into the supposed lacking intelligence and morality of these family members, disguised in a 'we're just so different, me being educated and all' tone made me go, "Oh ok, I get why they don't like you, lady".
she was the worst caller in the history of this show in my opinion. just awful.

Don't know if you've ever had to be around a bunch of misogynists... it's a different cultural universe. Respectfully, sound like you're the one being judgey. Her education isn't the point. Their unwillingness to evolve so that women aren't 'kept in their place' is. My heart went out to her.

Great ep ❤❤❤ highlight was the "cancelled or cancer" portion. I think we need to make light of EVERYTHING in this day and age. If I had cancer, you can bet your ass I'd be making fun of it every damn day. Also I lost my mom to cancer. It's an ugly disease but joking about it was my saving grace. anyone who is getting huffy and triggered and projecting their own shit onto a JOKE needs to lighten the fuck up. This isn't about you. (Also - I choose being cancelled over cancer any day 😂)

Sounds like she came in a little too hot into that family with some aggressiveness, but Moshe, Natasha, and Casey gave her some great advice, and she seemed receptive of it too. Hope it all works out for her
I find people respond very negatively to the women callers if they aren’t immediately jumping into jokes or the repartee. The first woman is a little abrasive but she’s just asking straight forward questions and looking for advice. People forget that callers are genuinely looking for help.

I have cancer and you have no idea what you’re talking about. The second you hear those words, “You have cancer,” your whole life changes. REALLY not cool, especially since that girl just called in who’s going through chemo. Think about the hardest thing you’ve ever gone through in your life and then you hear ppl who’ve never had that experience being cavalier and talking about it casually. No thanks.

@above poster /link broken[Jivamukti G.] -"you can’t make jokes about it unless you’ve been there" - There are so many instances where I could be that person, that group, that persecuted minority, (Cancer included (among so many other major negatives!)); But for some folks, That's not a common belief. Even among progressives. To go through life feeling that a topic is off-limits is pretty bleak.
You can have a comeback from cancer, it seems like being cancelled is worse.
But under their parameters 30% survival rate, big risk. Most humans are trash anyways so I rather be cancelled with my pets and solitude 😂
And the first caller just made me stop watching this Ep. Her whole vibe is just, i mean.....peace!

Kind of an ignorant episode. The whole family not agreeing on politics comes up constantly. And cancer or cancelled is weird. A lot of unnecessary or repetitive convo.
I feel like any episode Moshe is on will for sure be an ignorant episode.

that woman in australia sounds like she totally lacks self-reflexivity of her judgemental american ways.the pod artfully played into her reasoning to tell her to leave those people alone. no amount of racism is solved by pontificating. hopefully she will wake up in the middle of the night and realise she's the total hypocrite they didnt outright tell her she was, but which is implied in all the advice she received.
