The reason your 400w inverter wouldn't charge it, is because the Ecoflow products require a Pure Sine Wave inverter. Chances are, the inverter in your vehicle is not a Pure Sine Wave inverter. I just purchased the Delta Mini. It is amazing! Thanks for the video!
Costo is currently (Oct. 2022) offering this model for $150 less than the price quoted in the video. Had to pull the trigger as this was a phenomenal price for approx. 900Wh of power storage. The killer feature other than the price/Wh was the 1.5hr fast charging capability from zero to 100% capacity @86% or so efficiency.
Typically, I like to buy things with a long view. Batteries are being improved so quickly, it doesn't matter to me that it isn't lithium-ion phosphate. This power station could be recharged every day for TWO years before it drops the performance. Totally agree about the inconvenience of needing to access both ends and lack of USB ports. My primary purpose is to run fridge and computer for camping outings. I'll be interested to see how it does with a fridge outside in 90* heat when it and my fridge arrive.. Good video! Thanks.
I appreciate you clarifying the Lithium NMC chemistry vs LiFePO4 at the beginning of the video, maybe one day they will have that on their smaller power stations. They only use LiFePO4 on their HUGE Delta Pro models.
Thanks Matt for taking the time to put this review together. If anyone is interested in buying one, Academy Sports has this on sale for $500 right now!
This gadget is awesome! I think the fit finish and design is aok. I know you want everything on one side but packaging something like this is an engineering conundrum. I’ve been mech design for about 20yrs. I think this lil feller is a home run. I got a small home and a tiny home, runs both(*with human power management)via the Bluetooth app
This is the video I've been looking for. I Just ordered this off Ebay a few days ago. It was through Ecoflows company, and is supposed to be new with all the accessories. $401 without the solar panel. I have 2 100 watt panels already. It was $499 but had a 20% off code. It will be here Monday or Tuesday. Can't wait to see what I can power up, and test to see how long it will run the daily items I use.
I am glad to hear about all this as I just bought mine and will have it in hand in about a week, and I got it at just under $450 as there is a deep discount on them right now. I was using a cheapish LiFePo system and it kept timing out the 12v on my new fridge on our trip last weekend so decided to bite the bullet and go with a more premium system. I will be definitely testing it out for sure :)
I agree with u about all the ports being in one place. The other thing I dislike is the light coming on & off at night. I don't understand what the multi DC cable for?
Enjoy the channel! I bought two EcoFlow power stations from watching your reviews. I got my River Max to charge using my 400W truck inverter when I switched on the “AC slow charging” in the app. With it off, the input kept cycling off and on. Hopefully that works for that unit.
Honestly, for the money, I don't know why you wouldn't just step up to the Delta 2. It has LFP, it has double the USB ports, it has 1,024Wh (vs 882Wh), you get another 400W of output (1800W vs 1400W), it only weighs an additional 3.4lb (23.6lb vs 27lb), and it's only an extra $150 ($749 vs $899). That extra $150 buys a lot of upgrade. So for 20% more money, you're getting more than then double the battery life, a safer more robust chemistry (a pretty big deal), a 5 year warranty (vs a 2 year), 16% more capacity, 28% more output, double the USB port count, at a very similar pack out weight.
Are these type of Lithium batteries safe to run in a hot vehicle with devices (12v fridge)? Temps here run upto 110F and in the car could be 130F+. I thought lithium ion had fire concerns above a certain temp, do LiFePo4 have similar concerns? Typical use is 4-5hr hike with these electronics in the vehicle. Love the reciews, thanks for all you do.
@Ozark Overland Adventures can you use power from solar panels straight to the inverter during the day to conserve the battery power for the night time? thank you
Hello sir, i just boughy one of that yesterday and I have a question, what is the best way to use delta mini to have longer lifetime? It has 800 cycles but can we make up to 1000? Do you think If we chage it up to%90 and use it upto %15or%20 can upgrade its lifetime? Thanks
They are also missing a great opportunity to put wireless charging right there on the top tray. Perfect area for it. Guess they wanted to keep the price point low.
I have a thought. Since the DC Solar input can take input from 11-75v DC why don't you run a DC cable straight off your battery into the Delta Mini's Solar input? You would be pulling 10 amps at 14.4v which is 140 watts instead of the car ports regular 100watt. You could also run a high-power DC-DC boost converter to 24v or 36v and get 250-300watts that way.
You can set it to slow charge and then you can charge it with your jeep.. On full kill its trying to pull 900w through your 400w inverter.. Set it to slow charge and you'll be good to go
You need to set your input to a lower setting for ac to get it to work off your 400w inverter. If it is set to 900 I will see that it can’t get that and not charge at all. You have to set it to 300 or something
I did. I set it to 200, 300, and 400 and it wouldn't work. I suspect that the inverter in the my Jeep isn't a pure sine inverter and the ecoflow has an issue with that.
Does the display turn off or is always on? When you charge the station with solar or wall and also use it to charge devices, what does it show in the 'hours' display? Thanks
I’m curious if you encountered any issues running your diesel heater off the delta mini. I recently purchased a diesel heater and just upgraded from a river pro to a delta mini. However, neither unit seem to be able to run the diesel heater using the 12v input. Both EF units flash DC overload after about 15-30 seconds and kill the output. If I’m understanding correctly, this is due to an initial surge when the glow plug is heating. powering from just a basic 12v battery, I can see on the display that the draw jumps form 10w~ to about 160w~ many times during the initial startup. Did you have to do anything special to get this to operate correctly with your Delta??
Thank you, for confirming my purchase was a smart one😊 I like that it discharges when not in use so slowly. I wonder about recharging it. When out with it I feel like I should make sure it is topped up with the solar panels but maybe it needs to be used to a specific level before recharging to keep the battery in its best shape?
Excellent Review!!! 2-1/2 days of just powering a 12 volt DC fridge is more than what I usually need. With my 160 watt solar panel, it would almost be a perpetual power source for my fridge. Had I not sprung for a Bluetti EB70 last May for $499, I would definitely be in line for the Delta Mini at the current Amazon price - just because it can handle a 1000 watt AC load with 400 watts of wiggle room and EcoFlow's much better than Bluetti display panel. The one thing on my wish list for all of these 500 to 1000 watt hours power stations is for them to up their 12 volt DC outputs to over 180 watts, a.k.a 15 amps versus the current 10 amp limit.
I find it hard to believe that you've checked out the other EcoFlow Delta units as you claim...? They are designed the same way... plugs at one end, information on the other... the app is common to all the models...!
Probably the reason it won't charge on your inverter in the jeep is because it's trying to pull 900w through your 400w inverter.. Hence why they gave you the slow charge.. Set it to slow charge and then set it to 300w - 400w and it should work fine.. I have the ecoflow River max and I had to do that because it was trying to pull too much out of my pickup inverter so I set it to slow charge and it was good to go.
Thanks for the video! This may be a dumb question but when you tried to charge off the stock inverter, was it in the "slow charge" mode with it set to less than 400W?
That's a terrible design the displays on both sides, cords running different directions. The wall charging is great, but like you said when your camping/overlanding it does you no good, if you lose power at home it does you no good. I'll stick with my Bluetti EB70S with the waaaaaaaaay better battery. But whatever floats your boat

Depends if it's a compressor fridge or a peltier cooler. Peltier cooler probably won't work well :/
I appreciate you clarifying the Lithium NMC chemistry vs LiFePO4 at the beginning of the video, maybe one day they will have that on their smaller power stations. They only use LiFePO4 on their HUGE Delta Pro models.
That one day is today. The Delta 2 and River 2 both use LFP chemistries.

Ecoflow river got the placement right. AC outlets and charging inputs on sides. Better than all on front in my opinion. You can access sides easily.

Just got mine from the Grid im loving it.😊
Thanks for sharing. I love the portability and versatility of the DeltaMini.
You can't have a new favorite every few months 😂 I guess you can it's your channel.

I saw on their site where the the max is on-sale right now (3/30/22) for 400$ is that a good deal for the river max?
@@aaronanthony1363 I paid that price for the Max(572 Wh) and they gave me a free bag. I bought the Max Plus (720Wh) for $429 when they had a special.
All pro generators , bought mine for $711.55 vet discount and free shipping , no sales tax. AWSOME
Thanks for not calling it a "generator". Power station or power storage station is much more accurate.
The deal breaker IMHO is no LiFePo4 battery. There is no excuse for not using those today.
I have the River and so far so good. I bought the add on battery but haven't used it yet. I like that it charges so fast like you said.
Got one online from Costco for $699
Now Costco dropped the price to $599 can't beat that.
That Delta Mini is also my favorite off grid partner.
You'd set it at 70% or so if you're storing it for long periods. Since you didn't know why someone might do that.

Have you had the issue with other power stations not charging from the factory inverter? My plan was to use the factory inverter in my silverado.
I had problems with a modified wave inverter. Sine wave did the trick.
Yep I think that's it.

None of the EcoFlows have wireless charging. Not sure why.
The reason for not having the wireless charging on the top is, because of the inverter from DC to AC is there so there is no space for a charge pad.
Is it duel charging, ac and solar at the same time?
Cool. I could see you turning the hair dryer off as your wife is trying to use it lol
I have a thought. Since the DC Solar input can take input from 11-75v DC why don't you run a DC cable straight off your battery into the Delta Mini's Solar input? Yes it okay, you can ad a battery to the solar input for longer run if neseserry.

Plugs are where they are so you can put station behind car seat are cords are out of the way.
You should glue some black velvet on a piece of cardboard for filming those screens
setting max charge lower preserves the battery life.
Great reivew. DId Ecoflow ever report why the JL/JT inverter won't charge it?
I suspect the cheap car inverters have a dirty sine wave which causes the ecoflow to protect itself
I have the river max and unfortunately it will not run my diesel heater. Shuts down right at the end of the start cycle
Does the display turn off or is always on?
When you charge the station with solar or wall and also use it to charge devices, what does it show in the 'hours' display? Thanks
