Fantastic job 🙌🙌 no wonder you are proud ! it looks fab ! love the calm colour palette ❤
Well done on completing this. I've been trying and failing to get someone to do my tiny kitchen which only has space for 2 wall cupboard and a half floor cupboard for the sink. I'm going to check out your blog posts and have a go at doing it myself.
Excellent job and a great result. Great finish on such a reasonable budget.
Brilliant finished job Vikkie and looks so perfect. I liked the before and after pictures. Funny how Hans got in both shots modeling the Room. lol !!!
Haha... I thought that was funny too, but typical. He's ALWAYS waiting at the door to be let out, so I built him a kennel 😂
Now you've finally finished, I have a conservatory that needs a new roof ; )
Small area, huge job! You can, now, add cabinet fitter (and laminate installer), plumber, and tiler to your skills list (which already includes painter and chippy [carpenter]). Gosh, I consider myself quite handy, but this project would have scared me death! You completed it like a pro! Congrats!
Haha, I was initially scared about he plumbing, but took each project as they came so I could stay calm. Would've been REALLY stressed if this was my only kitchen 😂
Congratulations on finishing your kitchen, I never had any doubt you would be able to do it. And to top it all off you have discovered lots of skills in the progress
Thank you John :) I love how I've learnt new useful things along the way too. You just never know when they might come in handy again 😊
I love how Hans poses in the before and after pics. Great job. Like your tip about silicone sealing as well. I hate silicone sealant, I get more of it on me than the wall!
He's almost always at the door, begging to be let out 😂😂 I used to hate silicone, but after a few people suggested in a video, I haven't looked back!! 😍
Excellent job! I've started on my back yard de-weeding & step building & wood chips/weed control installation all because Your videos motivate me to try! 32 bags of mulch & 20 bags of garden soil are intimidating, but I am willing to do it...1 step at a time. Tu for all the inspiration. Hope my laundry room comes out as nice as ur utility room...when I get to it later this year
Thank you and that's great news! 🤗 Once you've faced this, you'll soon realise it's just the size of the bags etc that are daunting and you'll be more fearless on your next jobs :)
I'm sure your laundry room will look great - we just went for budget kitchen carcasses and there's so many with nicer doors out there :)
An excellent job well done Vicky. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
You should be happy! Great job! Thank for sharing this. I'm heading to the homestore now, you've inspired me.
Fantastic
Nice to hear your voice again!! So much fun to see the progress of this room and your skills. Great stuff!
So glad to be able to talk again 😂 And thank you so much - it's been a valuable project in so many ways 😊
Excellent work and looks absolutely amazing, it’s astounding what can be accomplished when you put your heart and soul in to a job, you should be very proud of your hard work,
Keep up the good work
Gaz
Thank you so much! I don't think it's all sunk in yet that I really did it 😂
Well done looks great
Great job as always bet you will be happy to move to another room cant wait to see your next project
Yes, VERY happy I've ticked it off my list and can crack on with other areas. After painting with grey and having colour in the hall and bedroom, the living room is now looking dull 😂
can i give you a tip abut assembling cabinets ?? i foudn that if you make a bench , say use two horses (you an get then for 10-20 each and a nice large bit of ply (just a bit bigger then your largest standard cabinet ) and when you assemble one side to the back put them in the upright position as they would be when assembled this will take the strain off the chip or MDF as you seem to have then with one side on its back
oh and its not conduit that they run the evap pipes in its trunking trunking has a lid and conduit is generally round and inadvisable other then either end and you should always have a condense pump for split units unless you can vent it directly out going down first
oh and i would have changed the wall light for a nice little 7w LED bulkhead
BUT im not being critical i hope you keep going as you do a lovely job and are clearly learning a lot
Looks great vikkie you’ve done an excellent job, and well worth all the effort.
I think so too! It's a fairly small two bed bungalow, so the extra workspace has so far been valuable!
Wicks is part of the travis perkins group always do a price check. Sometimes you can get the exact same product thats in wicks in travis Perkins but cheaper.
Cracking job, and like the "thinking outside the box" using the tape . If you have a plumb centre near you try them for your fittings especially speedfit. Keep up the great work beaut x
Thanks! There is one near by, but my father in law helped me by creating a plumbing shopping list using the screwfix catalogue and sent me on my way 😂 Made things so much easier lol
on the before after pics your dog looks the same.. haha ..sorry , great video and the wall looks amazing !
Thanks! :) He's ALWAYS waiting to be let out 😂😂 Was funny when I saw him in the same place lol
Nice job and on a good budget, well done
Thank you :) I thought it was rather affordable... especially getting quoted almost 10k on our main kitchen (which we didn't go with). And this isn't that much smaller.
I honestly don’t think that...I’ll ever will be able to give my tiny kitchen the perfect makeover that it needs right now; as good as yours; considering I’m not a professional plumber. My project will take me months & months to complete.
I love your videos. by the way; you seem, really professional?
Friday afternoon at 12:57H. 5th February 2021 U.K. 🇬🇧 Totton Southampton.
You’ve done so well in an awkward room .
Please treat yourself to a better quality paint brush like Purdy or Hamilton they hold more paint and make cutting in so much easier.
Keep up the hardwork awesome 👏 xx
Thanks! I think I should :) I'm very lazy when it comes to cleaning brushes and keep buying the disposable ones 😂 Will try some nicer ones for the living room 😊
Well done, great job, give it a year you will want to add/change something!
Haha, yes, I'm already thinking of drilling a hole in the worktop for a pop up extension cable 😂
Great job overall can’t fault your work , that air conditioning unit will be a god send when these heat waves arise
Thanks! We've had a very hot few days already and as soon as I turned it off to film my intro, it became a sauna in there 😂😂 I'm sure any noise wouldn't have been picked up from my mic, but had to film it quickly and couldn't take the risk!
Great job! My project in Spain is totally off grid and I'm having Toshiba gear for my water heating, underfloor heating/cooling using their Aerotherm system and solar power for electricity. It would have been a God send if my wife had your ability. Would make life a lot easier and save on paying someone to do any two person job!
Thanks! That sounds a learning experience being off grid!!
Sadly me and my husband argue while doing DIY, so I only ask for help when I absolutely need it.. like lifting the 3m worktops 😂
‘Gyproc’ is what we call plasterboard in Australia, or ‘gyp’ or ‘gib,’ we mostly use Gyproc in housing new builds and renovations.
Great job and it looks better than some kitchen I have seen! lol. It really does help if you can do as much as possible of the work yourself because can you imagine what it would have cost if you had paid someone to do all that work.......that would be worth tallying up to see the difference from a DIY job to someone actually coming in and doing all of the work for you.
Great vlogs as always and the chic shadow looks awesome!
Thank you :) It's funny how I keep spotting mistakes in other kitchens or toilets since doing this and tiling in both.. but it's mostly make-shift ones in campsites and how they've fitted the worktops. Originally we got a quote for about 9k and it put us off looking again 😂
@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK That's a bit of a whopper at 9K, that's enough to put anyone off getting a pro in, I am surprised you haven't had any job offers in for fitting kitchens or tiling......I am sure they will come! Lol.
Lol... I'll just stick to my own projects. Far less complicated 😂😂
Great job. Very jealous. My main kitchen doesn't look as good as that (don't have utility kitchen). Great to know how to do a lot of the stuff yourself too which saves you a fortune. Much kudos.
Very professional looking job 👏👏👏👏 well done vikki your mint at learning quick. And a master already 👍👍👍🤗🤗
Thank you 😊 I'm not sure I'm a quick learner though, but getting less scared to try things which is good 😂
The Carpenter's Daughter the only way to learn is to try. And you at least try everything 🤗
The Carpenter's Daughter try bricklaying a small wall border or something. I tried that years ago and have since built around 15 house garden walls and also a garage haha. It's the best way to learn anything. Have a go. Good luck 😊
No stopping you, then 😂 I have thought about a DIY brick bbq of some kind which sounds fun and useful 😊
Real nice job. I have no excuse anymore to get up and get done. I guess thanks;)
Going to be a shame when all the projects are finished.... I am a carpenter and looking to buy my first house soon. Really enjoy these videos
Well, we've been talking about hopefully building a house from scratch 😍 we're way off that, but my dad has offered to show me how using the plot of land in his back garden 🤔😊
That's awesome, having your dad around to show you how is a great touch as well. Keep it up! Although my bread and butter is the trade it's always good to see someone have a go them selves
Smashin job chick, does wonders for the white balance.
So on with the Loft Conversion then?
Thanks! 😊 I liked how the colour changed everything for such a basic kitchen. We may move and build a house from scratch instead of the conversion now 😂
Looks great! I’m thinking about getting these cupboards, can the handles be replaced ? X
You could use totally different handles if you wish, but obviously it will be harder to replace if you fit these first.
Hello I bought chic dulux and it has a blue tinge I was wondering if this was the same for you
Not in our conservatory. I think it really depends whether you room is south facing etc. Goose down is quite blue imo
You've done amazing job the finishing product looks amazing it just shows that a woman doesn't need a man go woman power
Thanks! Just would need an extra woman to lift the worktops 😂😂
I know them worktops are heavy especially at 3 metres I have to live them daily in my job as a joiner doing fitted kitchens wait to try and pick a granite worktop up they're even heavier
Haha... that doesn't sound fun, but granite does look lovely!
@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK what I can see what you have done is a great Grand Job I know basic home now when I need an extra pair of hands at work
lol .. don't try to kid anybody .. that's not finished yet, you will keep finding things to change / improve / tidy .. bring it on
True.. lol... I've already been asked to cut a whole in the worktop for a pop up extension cable 😂
Just finished watching the series for this project. Brilliant. Some great extra tips for me as well as some I used already. I love DIY and UA-cam helps me a lot.
Thanks
