Rocket League smurfs are the worst ever. But I think that too many people often say that they are getting clapped because of the other team smurfing. But how often are you actually getting smurfed on in your games? Sometimes people just pop off and you instantly claim you got smurfed on. Maybe you're just bad and you played bad. This is not what happens in ranked games, and I do not convince myself that there are smurfs, you convinced me there were smurfs, and then jebaited me. I have never actually thought that someone in my games was a smurf. I legit feel like I just got cyberbullied 😂😂

His idea is fine, telling people don’t accuse anyone smurfing based on one or two clips. But the execution isn’t very good in my opinion, I feel being lied to instead of the “plot twist“ moment that he’s trying to present.

IDK man, smurfs are pretty obvious and somewhat common. When you see two people passing to each other in mid air and hitting flip resets, you can be pretty sure you're not goin against two plats who queued together.
I didn't come here to be told smurfs don't exist, I came here to see what a gc2 looks like in plat from the outside.
Like the diamond game they all looked terrible to be honest but then for the GC game it was extremely obvious. But to be honest that was a really shitty GC lobby when I compare replays of mid/high GC. Honestly I've seen Low GC 3's teams in scrims who are better on an off day /:

Just gonna comment this real quick before watching: Playing with/against someone for 5 minutes gives a lot more info on their rank than a 30 second clip from their perspective.
And also when the video isn’t about finding the smurf, forcing the viewer to assume there’s a Smurf in the matches

It's way easier from a birds eye getting everyone.

Yeah it’s very annoying, I come into the video ready to test to see if I know enough to pick out a Smurf who may or may not be trying to fit in and not be chosen only to be told there isn’t a Smurf, what’s the point of the title if there aren’t Smurfs in the games
I don't always think there's a smurf in my ranked games but if you tell me there is one, then it's not wrong to be looking for one
rocket league tracker has been pretty handy for finding smurfs, 50 wins in C2 doing flip resets consistently seems a bit far fetched
I’m a diamond/plat player and I vs ppl that do flip resets all the time. So not really surprising my guy

2 games had no smurf, and there wasn't a even 5th game. I know nobody asked, but I realized I didn't rly like Cbell's videos a while back, so I stopped watching his videos. no problem. But this one comes up in my recommended, so I gave him a 2nd chance in my mind, and its a big let down imo. I think it's the only video I've downvoted in a while :/

There are also other factors, smurfs are generally on epic, and they generally don’t have items or fancy car designs because they are on a fresh account
💯 rights. I played a 3V3 tourney a couple of days ago and spotted a smurf before the game even started. An octane with no decal or special paint and non painted Octavian wheels. Not sure if they’re Octavian or OEM. Anyways I was right, he was definitely a smurf.

This is not what happens in my ranked games when someone is smurfing, They are double resetting perfectly and beating everyone to the ball by a mile. It's pretty obvious tbh. If you did an actual champ game with a gc that was a whole rank above them and told him to go ham it would be pretty obvious, it might be the reason why there wasn't a smurf in certain rank videos.

@@freddofrog0940 oh for sure, obviously if you think everyone beating you is a smurf then its probably on you kind of like blaming your teammates. However usually it's pretty easy to tell if someone is significantly higher than your current rank. a c3/c2 beating you in c1 isn't a smurf he could have loss steaked down there. But gc1+ in a c1 lobby its pretty easy to tell.

@@freddofrog0940 really depends, d3-c1 is the most infested rank with smurfs feels like, climbed p3-d2 and already encountered smurfs in d2 but on a smaller scale, and in d3/c1 there's just plenty of them who are on significantly lower mmr than their teammate (in 2s) and just constantly doing the mechanics you don't see in c1 lobbies that frequently. Speedflipping, flip resets, ceiling shots and double taps are still rare to see (I'm not saying that people don't do that, but in terms of consistency).
I can't dribble the ball, air dribble, double tap, flip reset, speedflip, half-flip (lol), flick the ball consistently or anything and I'm ranging in d3-c1 depending on the day when I'm playing with my 2s buddy.

hey c2 here, me and my teamate had this exact same thing happen to us in 2's like 4 games in a row, epic games acounts (ofc) we couldn't do anything but sit there and watch. I couldn't imagine what ya'll did in gold cause we couldn't touch the guy
I don’t think this really proves anything.
1: We only watch 30 seconds from each players pov. That’s not a very complete picture of what’s going on in the game.
2: the games take place across a number of different ranks, and people are going to get worse at this the further the rank from their own.
3: we are biased from the beginning because of being told that there is a Smurf ahead of time. Like I fell for the first bait, but I wouldn’t have thought that guy was a Smurf in a game, I made the guess because he seemed to have the best mechanics and I was told there was a Smurf.
4: for the guesses I got wrong, I would not have thought the guy I guessed was a Smurf if I hadn’t been already told there was one in the game. So all that’s showing me is that some Smurfs hide well, not that I’m accusing people who aren’t Smurfs.
All his video really does is point out that sometimes, in a context very far removed from an actual game, Smurfs might be hard to spot. It doesn’t prove anything about, say, calling Smurf over someone just having one or two good moments.
Personally, I don’t cry Smurf after one suspicious moment. I do it after several. Like I’ve seen the difference between someone who is clearly obsessing over a high-level mechanic but has major holes in their game that keep them stuck in that rank, and someone who is legitimately an all-round way better player.
I didn't watch it until the end, but I think you missed the mark with this video. Putting one rank higher to be the smurf is not most of us are experiencing. It definitely happens that a team comes in in a 2v2 and one of the player is just cracked and carrying the other one. That is I call a smurf because we can't do anything against because their mechanics are just clearly better and the difference is just visible right out of the gate. I hope one of the games had 3 gold and 1 gc and find the smurf there.... Sure there are plats, diamonds practicing flip resets etc and they can do that one mechanic but you still have a chance if u do it right because that is the only advantage they have so if u attack sooner u can take the airdribble flip reset away from them but with a real smurf they are just better in every aspect (mechanics, rotation, defense etc) and just outplay you. That is what is disappointing, not that I had the chance to play against somebody with one rank higher. I actually stick in those games because i might learn something, but when somebody just clearly can outplay me and one or two team mates in every move they make that is the unfair matchup.

It's when 1 of the 2 enemies starts to carry and pulls out perfect mechanics out of their ass that just do not happen in my rank, that's where it gets upsetting.
That's not my brain tricking me or me being mad because the opponent is better than me and saying that that's the case, is gaslighting me.

Ok those no smurfs round are different from games because in this it’s implied there is a Smurf every round. It’s like doing guess that rank but the person is unranked
A) 30 seconds tell you barely anything, especially if the smurf is chilling.
B) 3-4 ranks are not a big difference from my experience, e.g. a player (i know i did) can easily fluctuate between Dia2 and Champ 2 depending on current mindset, both mechanically and strategically.
C) If you see a proper out of place smurf in a game that isn't for youtube content you can easily tell. Like 4 times the points of his team, the only one with pressure, super consistent, goes for ceiling shots and flip resets...

I get the point of the video and that its meant for ppl who blame their losses consistently on Smurfs but this was hella unrealistic. From my experience smurfing doesn't happen often enough to actually impact your rank. But when I did run into Smurfs more often I was around gold and it was never an odd man out try to guess who it is. It would literally be a lobby of golds ball chasing and 1 guy practicing his double taps and flip resets like he was in free play.
Lol so true when i was in gold these guys were literally all the time in the air while we are trying to understand wtf is going. Now that im in diamond ,smurfs are considerably lower (i heard that it again increases in champ) but they still exist and i hate it when the match im playing is for a promotion or division up and these guys just completely destroy my hope of ranking up. No smurfs try to hide their mechanics and always tries to show off their mechanics and game sense in ranks below gc and therefore i feel like cbell is completely off point with this video.

@@lirinnaufal That's me right now, the gold who is pained by people perfectly airdribbling while we're barely even aerialing and hitting the ball.
Just because I've seen opponents do it so many times, I've spent a large amount of time in freeplay training the air dribble set up, but I barely even touch the ball most of the time after jumping from the wall even after hours of training it.

Well it wouldn't be much of "Guess the smurf" if that smurf was flip resetting in a plat lobby, so I guess that's why he took such not-obvious smurfs. It does indeed paint a wrong picture about the smurf problem, that's correct. Also, CBell is a GC2 right? People in GC2 don't have that kind of issue with smurfs. There are a lot of really mechanical people in GC2, so smurfs don't always stand out mechanically. If someone smurfs in GC2, that's more because of positioning, speed and boost management. Those things are *way* harder to spot on the field

@@malaki4519 Yeah, you have a point. But by my definition, if he's really telling the truth about these players, then they're still smurfs. A smurf by my definition is someone who creates a new account to play against lower ranks than his own skill level, regardless of intent. So for example, that C2 in a D2 lobby is a smurf, because he's in a lower rank on a different account (if he's on his main and deranked to D2, he can't be called a C2, let's be fair here). Even if they're not trying, it's still smurfing. But I do agree that this video doesn't show how smurfing is really like and isn't a good video to make people stop complaining about smurfs
CBell, good video, but there are some MAJOR flaws in your reasoning in the video…
Firstly, 30 seconds of selected gameplay of your choosing does not accurately reflect 5 minutes of in game time playing with or against a smurf.
Also, when you create a private lobby like this, the smurf will try to blend in as that is the “challenge” you have given the smurf. In ranked, the smurf won’t do this obviously.
Lastly, smurfs typically will use all default or free to play stuff since they are on an alt account, these players were clearly on their main or own items on their alt, which in many cases is extremely rare.
Point is, smurfing is a problem in rocket league. This video does not debunk that, and it even makes a mockery of a problem within rocket league. I expect more from someone in the community who has power to speak out about things that need to be improved within the game. I’m disappointed with the thought process that went into the video and hope to see more thought next time.
He thinks showing a champ against a diamond can make you pick out which one is the smurf.
A champ can easily become a diamond again if on a losing streak, that's not smurfing.
Me, a Gold 3 playing against a diamond or a champ however, you can more than noticably tell the difference of who is a smurf and who's not. A diamond is never gonna fall back down to gold, there's a big and noticable skill gap between those ranks.
To be fair, I had one of those games recently while playing with a friend. Enemy airdribbled perfectly and they were up a lot, so I just gave up and confronted them. They somehow couldn't tell the skill difference and acted like it was fine, so I asked them if they think it's normal for golds to be airdribbling and they responded that they are diamonds and came off just as confused after I told them we were golds.
End of the game and turns out they were unranked and had their placement matches against us, like WTF. How are you gonna matchmake golds against diamonds.

I understand that you were trying to make a point with having no smurfs in some of the games but that took the fun out of it for me. Thanks for disappointing me over and over again cause that is what I really look for in a video
7:21 may I ask how he collected the boost and his boost meter didn’t go up but then when it was empty he got it
It's a bug in the replays feature 🙂. ApparentlyJack was experiencing the same issue in his second channel when doing replays analysis
It's a glitch in the replay system. So what happened, was that he jumped over the boosts hitbox, but the replay thought he was inside the hitbox.
It happens all the time in replays. Sometimes cars glitch into the ground, or the boosts isnt there but someone gets boost from it. Othertimes you will see the ball randomly start teleporting.
However, these glitches only happen when you rewind in the replays. (Sometimes your car might glitch out, but mainly when you rewind. Also keep in mind that your ping in the game you're watching is affected by the replay. This means you can clearly see when you disconnect or get high latency in a game.)

Feel like it’s also easier to tell when there’s a smurf in your own rank because I got the diamond and champ games correct and I’m c1/c2, would love to see a spin off of this where people try to guess if there was a smurf or not in a game that’s their rank

Had a team of freestyle smurfs the other day, they scored 7 while doing insane moves by the 3 min mark they forfeit and left. Didn't even let us forfeit first.
I got Every smurf right except for the diamond game but sometimes u come up against someone with a standard banner, border and car while they are doing crazy flip reset double touches and they are just really quick in everything (more Than every other player in that rank)
Pretty neat idea, but i'm positive that's not Xaka's rank. He was moving intelligently, not over commiting, using low 50s and keeping the ball close. That's C3/GC level headed play right there. The way he bought a lot of time with an aerial for his out of position teammate was sick

1. A lot of times in game the smurfs name is something like “James’ alt” or something that tells me they’re a smurf.
2. You told me to find the smurf, and then later after i had picked a player you said there was no smurf. Rant over.
I play at a low GC level in ones, and I think I’m going against a smurf most the time when I’m losing then I check their peak rank and it says GC 3 div 2, GC 3 div 4, or even SSL (1,385 mmr) etc

Yeah, before even watching the video. Save replays, or look at the scoreboard. It's not difficult to get the sense you're being out-maneuvered, or when it's blatant. Like people who de-rank intentionally and still run GC rewards. Smurfs just thought it would make the game less boring, if you talk to them, it doesn't work that way.
I have screenshots of me in my diamond 2 games with ppl with rng champ tags, Grand champ tags and super sonic legend. It's quite baffling these people do this. I report them every time for xp farming, hope they get banned.

A cutout of the convo is send when someone is reported for abusive words in the chat. Very easy and straight forward proof. And tbh there are like 10x more toxic people who insult, lose on purpose, stay afk or whatever than actual smurfs. So yh thats probably why no smurfs get banned ever
@@Wraikey Lucky with rocket league the learning curve is so steep simply any new account who goes straight into plat 2+ is a smurf 99% of the time, I would say they should go by that and then take you account under review if so, HONESTLY they should have a damn way to tie you personally to your account and I know these types of things suck but they really need to have some sort of way to prevent dupe accounts.
just played a game where i was one game away from reaching diamond two. I then proceeded a team of two guys who were smurfing from GC. They just kept making fun of me the whole game. Seriously thinking about uninstalling the game rn, very deflated.

I actually guessed them all correctly ☠️ I don't think smurfing is as common as people like to think, but it is real. It's not about if they hit a flip reset on me, it's more about the fluidity of their aerials and when they can beat my tm8 and I to every ball regardless of boost. I've called out multiple smurfs in game that just admit it because nothing is gonna happen to them anyways.

Around 10 pm to 12 am in NA East there is a lot of smurfs in silver games more than usual. Very easy to spot because of the aerials and constant air rolls. Once one of the smurfs claimed they were SSL. Another time a team of 3 smurfs kept spamming What A Save before the game even started.

I usually just look at rocket tracker at the end of match to see if anyone was smurfing and i was playing in plat 2 1v1 vs a diamond 2 twice in a row
didn't really surprise me that the plat game had no smurfs player 3 was my guess because I assumed that there would be a smurf

I was in my diamond 3 div 4 game to rank up and I got a GC smurf. I talked to him post game about it and he invited me to his party switched accounts then showed me his GC tag. ( he was pulling off full field air dribbles. Ground to air dribbles. Great car control in the air with air roll. double flip resets. Power flicks.)
I found a smurf that was a champion and I was high gold to low Plat at the time. We partied and he started coaching me on what I was doing wrong. I also won a lot of casual games. 😆

Well moat people get on smurfs when under tye influence i do it when im shit faced i cant win a game in champ so i hop on my alt in diamond and mostly still lose but its not as intense idk doesnt rly change much
Yeah when he showed the first one that didn't have a "smurf" all I thought was that they all seemed like the same skill level. It's pretty easy to tell a smurf in a plat game

This doesn't happen in my c1 1s games man. What happens is that my enemy just goes into air and consistently flip resets musty double taps. Meanwhile I'm just a 2s gc without any good mechanics and cant even get a flip reset in 5 tries.
There are definitely a lot of smurfs in RL, I got this game 2 weeks ago and there's people in silver 2 trying to get freestyle clips on me lol.

When there was no smurf it was very easy to tell, if anything some seemed mechanically below the rank they were, which made the others seem better, but if you know the skill level of each rank it was very easy to tell if there was a smurf or not
people do often blame their losses on smurfs when there isn't one, I have been accused of smurfing on my main multiple times, the main point of this vid is to show that you shouldn't just say people are surfing because they are playing well, they probably aren't

The number of smurfs also vary by region. Lower populated regions have many more smurfs because higher ranked players get bored queuing for so long
