This is why I was looking at decommissioned hummers. Smog exempt yeah motor and transmission could be improved but fact it is exempt leaves you so many options.
You're referring to a Military humvee which is far different from the Hummer h1. There are many states that won't even allow them on the streets these. California being one of them.
@@PredatorInc I didn't see anything in my current state preventing it. That's why smog exempt means something to me technically your right military and commercial sold ones are different but are mostly same in design. Fact I could get decommissioned vehicle and possibly get it road legal is appealing without the smog requirements as far as I know all 50 states have different emission requirements but California is toughest I would expect not to be allowed there it's why I moved I don't want to be given so many rules on performance upgrades etc.
In addition to the smog, it boils down to the VIN numbers, which are distinct between military HUMVEEs and ordinary road vehicles. Not to mention the numerous DOT criteria that must be met. California is revoking the registration of prior HUMVEES with military VIN numbers and restricting their use to off-roading.
@@PredatorInc I'm aware of that but Californias rules don't apply when you move out of California. Updating body to meet the DOT standard is must they were designed for combat not exactly collusions. Everything you said makes sense I agree but I'm confident that it can be done in states more liberal about cars and modifications Florida Texas Nevada for example just with a lot more paperwork and inspections than consumer models. Because with guns and armor gone they are just a car after all. Also if registered in another state that allows it technically it can be driven in California for up to 10 days legally ( not legal advice). Californias rules don't apply to all states and status quo is each state determines requirements for registration but once issued in one another can't dictate what is and isn't valid because it's not registered in there state. Those restrictions only apply to registration because California couldn't just say your license plate and registration is invalid in California if from another state. Also just for fun look into ucc 9-109(1) and ucc 1-308 technically you aren't required to have a license to drive it is a right 👍 (again not legal advice).
I wanna go for a smog exempt H1 and Duramax it. I'm waiting on a case on a certain Fin Tech company v the SEC that ends this month. If they settle hopefully I get to go down and talk to you guys. If they don't? I have to wait for Congress, the way they lag? It wont be until 2025.
Thank you for your interest in our Duramax-swapped Hummers! The cost for a Duramax swap on one of these Hummers starts at $59k+ and may vary depending on the specific build and conversion options.
