some of mine 4th gen opinions
    1) only a few 4th gen groups are unique and stand out
    2) Somi is loosing a lot of relevancy her yearly songs are making her loose fans
    3) Loona won't see a boost of popularity until bbc stop with the favoritism and until they find a good sound
    4) I wish these groups would debut with an ep and not just a single it will grab more of an audience if they can hear more songs to get to know the group
    5) I'm scared of disbandment for Cherry Bullet & Cignature
Cignature has lost 2 or 3 members and haven't had a comeback. Cherry Bullet members have joined a new Mnet survival show and haven't had a comeback.

ahhh I agree sm with number 4!!! that's why Idles debut really stood out for me
also you're right about Somi. blame YG's misogyny 🙄
and I think Cherry Bullet will be fine. Cignature really needs a comeback though, the added members seem really useless currently

The whole thing with idols being too young, I agree, but it’s not really like this is a new thing either. SHINee’s Taemin (2008), F(X) Krystal (2009) and Hyuna (2007) (when she first debuted with Wonder girls) were all 14 at debut (as was NCT Jisung (2016),but he’s a more recent one). Miss A Suzy (2010), BTS Jungkook (2013), BAP Zelo (2012) and IU (2008) were all 15

The difference between æspa and Loona is that æspa (being from SM) has the budget to pull off their concept reallly really well visually. Everything from M/V, stage performances, outfits, etc. I’m not sure about what LOONA’s concept is but it is defneitely not what æspa and SM are trying to do with their AI counterparts. It’s interesting to hear your take on this though !

Loonaverse is all about interpretation that's why there isn't right or wrong theory it's all up to you but with aespa there is a specific storyline that's why there are some made up words in their lore. Both lores really good tho

    • @pievancl5457

Loona used to have the biggest budget out of any kpop group (compare their $9 million predebut/debut with 30+ solo/subunit MVs filmed all over the world). They still have the most expensive debut of all time. Their company is attached to a super wealthy Korean company called Ilkwang Group. Unfortunately, a couple years ago Ilkwang got into legal trouble for fraud and it trickled down to Blockberry, which cut the spending for Loona. That being said, they still have a super high budget compared to a lot of groups, especially those not under the big 3/HYBE. Not sure if you’ve seen a lot of Loona’s 40+ MVs, but they’re usually all super high quality with crazy visuals, and ALL of them are filmed by Digipedi, one of the most sought after video direction companies in SK.
Also, Loona doesn’t have a concept- that is their concept. They have a different sound/genre for almost every comeback, most exemplified by their 12 solos (all different genres) and subunits (each one a different concept). The last 3 comebacks have been kinda girlcrush- hopefully they switch it up next time.

i definitely agree with number 5. that's literally exactly what i thought abt asap and after school. i basically was thinking, "its a cute song but not like the typical cute we've seen in kpop" which is kind of what u said. i really like how they're putting a new twist on the cute concept and i feel like people are appreciating a cuter concept more instead of joining the bandwagon hate on cute songs in past years.

Just because it was overlooked in the past doesn't mean that it should be tolerated and encouraged in the future. About YGNGG- 100% true and right
I really want them to debut THIS year. Actually, Big 3 debuted 2nd and 3rd gens year by year. And now it is like- ITZY 2019, aespa 2020, YGNGG- 2021 (?). Plus, if YG will debut then in 2022, cmon- 2022 will be a WAR for rookies… Jyp is going to debut new gg, maybe Hube will+ Girls Planet 999….

as a collective I'm sure that's true in Korea yeah! but sales and achievements aren't everything. it's also about impact, how releases were liked and how they're remembered. specifically internationally (can't really say much about Korea ofc)

I give more context on this in this video!: ua-cam.com/video/czuS49ElXvI/v-deo.html
I think it has more to do with the 3rd gen being past its peak than the 4th gen itself. Red Velvet was absent, Twice didn't do well that year, Blackpink did have hits but it was not D4/KTL level, and so on. meanwhile more 4th gen groups are debuting and having many comebacks, therefore leaving a bigger mark

    • @anon3868

I feel like doing something regarding space isn't always the same. In this case aespa and loona. aespa is doing a more avatar AI type of thing while loona is doing moons and planets if that makes any sense. once a group has space in it, we disregard the ACTUAL concept and bring up how everyone is trying to be like loona or create a similar concept which is very annoying. I will say that aespa's lore feels kinda forced and I fear that it will effect their discography however I could be wrong!!

    • @danamaybee
      @danamaybee  3 роки тому

I get what you mean! I'm not implying Loona did it first therefore did it better (as another comment said) and I don't think the actual stories are similar either. I really mean the idea, so indeed the space concept, and having lore. they both have a story and lore yet Loona gets praised and Aespa gets torn to shreds, while the principle is the same. I wonder what's up with that

I agree for the most part about Loona’s b-sides. Their b-sides are always the best of the best. Their solo, subunit and full group b-sides are some of the best music I’ve ever heard in my life. This includes both in kpop and all other music in general. Seriously, their discography is one of the greatest pieces of art. That being said, I definitely heard a change in “&” the album. I enjoyed most of the songs, and I loved one or two. But the songs as a whole lacked that Loona flair- that aspect that subverts your expectations and makes the song super interesting. They lacked the complexity and flavor they usually have. In fact, they were kinda predictable- like any group could have released them- this used to not be the case. That being said, I do think “PTT” is one of their more solid title tracks, and I think it finally will deliver them a bit more attention in the Korean mainstream.
