"Thank you for standing in the rain, everybody" - Tom during Smokers
This is where it really starts to feel like the official beginning of the summer festivals, although you wouldn't think it from watching the footage here. Here in the UK we're going through what could be called "a dreaded sunny day" (Cemetry Gates), in very acute contrast to what the folks at Southside are experiencing. It seems like Editors brought their usual brand of gloomy energy, but added the typical crappy, rainy summer weather that we normally experience here. It had me a little worried because exactly 8 years ago they were due to play Hurricane when the whole show was cancelled, due to "inclement" weather. Please, not again.
Editors were way too low down on this bill. Ridiculously so. Moving on...
This was one of those gigs. It's outside, making you vulnerable to the elements. Your place on the running order was poorly thought out (see above). The crowd are soaked through to their skin, and the required electricity between audience and band is always going to be more poorly conducted through water. That's OK. Wanna know why?
They made people dance in the rain, which is no meat feat.
This felt as though they were going to have to work 'em to win 'em, and I think that by the time Papillon closed they had done just that. Fair play to the people who showed up to watch them play because they still appeared to have a great time.
I guess the most obvious fan questions leading into this would probably me, but not necessarily in this order:-
1/ Is Ben there?
2/ Are there any new tracks being played?
3/ Will they be bringing back any old songs, like they did with Crawl Down the Wall?
The answers to all three run like this; no, no and no. That's not to say that this won't change in the future, but right now it's a bullet-proof festival slot your getting. Fine by me. Now would probably not be the best time to revisit some obscure b-side from 2005 that the hardcore's salivate over, but which only serves to annoy more casual fans due to its quirkiness. Enjoy the music, and stay dry out there.
Time stamps are in the comments ;)

Absolutely Brilliant live!
That band should be headlining Glastonbury or slane!! The crowd!! Who put them on the bill that early?? A disgrace
I hope those people know how lucky they are! Rain, Editors and enough room to let yourself move to that amazing music❤❤❤❤❤
exactly, i was there, amazing ❤
Me too 😊 I saw them a day later at the Souhside‘s sister festival Hurricane in the North of Germany. The weather was better; still not too full though 😊
Thank you so much for posting this! I would definitely stand in the rain to see Editors. Next year I'm heading to Europe (from Australia) with the sole aim of seeing Editors perform live.
Die Editors sind immer TOP!!! KLASSE Band!!!
This guys sound just like a fucking studio álbum is amazing
Nearly a year ago today I queued up 40 minutes early and was one of the last ~10 people to get into the Barn at Werchter. I could've got on a plane to Germany in the morning and been at the barrier for this one. Fun for those who were there.
I like this mix for the keys and effects and Strawberry Lemonade as an opener.
I waited for like 6 hours in the Barn, front row (!!), for Editors. It was such a magical night 😍😍
I was in the first row. Couldn't believe my luck as I was quite late. Shane on the organisers. There was zero preparation for the rain which was announced days prior. Meaning that very few people were on the festival grounds as they were busy trying to stop their tents from being washed away.
Fantastic show.
Some people passing by and leave during their performance... Omg I would stand there even in a hurricane for them ❤
I moved to Sum-41 on the other stage as they will disband this year.
Now theres a group, Editors , Tom's voice so unique, great band, , another lot sadly under rated
karma climb just getting better and better everytime is impressive
Editors just keep getting better and better cracking live band cannot wait till they do the UK again ❤❤
The Audio quality on this is brilliant!
Thank you for your upload, came as a beautiful surprise for me. Didn't know they would playing at Hurricane and Southside this year 😅. For once I enjoy the show more at home than at the location 😎
HOW IN THE WORLD can it have such a low crowd - what a shame! I so wish i could see them. THey deserve so much better spots!
This is magic! Thanks for uploading. I appreciate you.
Thank you for uploading!! We're expecting them in Bulgaria end of August, but if Tom and the guys feel like fleeing from the rain and heavy clothing, they could come over even now. (It's been very heated for weeks here in the SouthEast) So it felt unreal to see them perform with jackets and coats. Btw, their show from Hear Hear 2022 is still my most favourite - perfect, unsurpassable. One more reason to thank you, Airborne Lemming, for providing it here and as sound files. Got many Editors live files on my phone because of your efforts and dedication! Love from Bulgaria.
Thats th spirit Tom!music against th bad weather..love Editors!LOVE FROM ARGENTINA..
brilliant
Good gig. Pros. The weather was infortunate but still, the Editors always deliver.
My word was there a free beer call on isle 3 at the bar tent ? what a shocking crowd , I count 126 and I am including the two seagulls in that number
Love your comments on the videos. I witnessed winning people over last year on Lovestrem festival where were really few of us who knew them. By the end of the set people were cheering. That’s what I call the skill!
I wish they are coming back to Holland soon. I really miss them ❤❤
This concert is so well edited and filmed by the director.
Editors are the best too
Danke arte!
Amazing!!! Pure quality!!!! ❤❤❤
I’ve noticed that they only got one hour slots on a lot of this summer festivals, how the f**k is that possible!??
A return to the source is always good... A real energetic pop sound.
I was there yesterday...amazing as always❤❤ Thank you for uploading ❤❤
You are the best! ❤❤❤
Absolutely the best ❤❤
phenomenal !
Brilliant as usual obviously weather was horrendous, Editors though always deliver top performance. As someone else said they should headline Glastonbury.
Thanks for this video guys this was flawless
If they'll play in the rain, I wish they'd come to Seattle ❤❤❤ My fave band!!!
Me gusta mucho este grupo, es de mis favoritos, suenan un cañon en vivo. Saludos de Chile. 🤘🤘
F*****g great band! Saw them first time in 2008 (with REM) and then and then other 24 times..... I like Tom with long hairs
love this version of karma climb!
Thanks for uploading, I'm going to see Editors next week in Belgium.
Just read the description and confess that my questions were basically the same as regards Ben and the setlist. I would cheerfully stand in the rain 🌧️ for Editors.
Have seen footage of Metallica performing in belting rain. Kudos to Metallica, their fans and especially tech guys who really know how to ground electrical equipment.
So rain is not necessarily a deterrent.
Where's the crowd omg omg omg omg totally shocked editors are an epic awesome amazing bands I totally luv um I'm shocked totally am editors are awesome amazing live I've been following um since they came out in 2004 🎉🎉🎉
The drummer is a machine! There are a lot of bands that got incredible drummers and The Editors is one of them. The Nationals also. But The Cure don’t have, hate his stiff playing…
Lets talk about Lars Ulrich 😂
Lars Ulrich? Maybe hard hitting but I don’t consider him a very good drummer. He’s greedy too so no, I don’t like him.
@@Kirkrune12 not a good drummer. but his lack of timing is like a signature. It wouldn't sound the same without him.
Holy crap! How are they not top of the bill?!
Wir sehen uns bald im August in Schaffhausen❤️
Best band in Britain (or Europe). Far to good for the mud of Glasto.
❤
Editors don't complicate things go back to the origin
💕💕💞
The crowd wow
whys it so dead?!
Thanks for the video. Did the hurricane one from yesterday get taken down?
It did. The grown-ups aren't happy.
@@airbornelemming that's a shame. Thanks for the upload though. At least I got to watch a bit on Sunday eve.
It's a bit sad to see the crowd in front of the stage. They are waiting for another band, but why so seriuos?
Editors are a great band, get fun with them.
Where's Blank Mass?
^Warum spielen sie nie LIKE TREASURE? :-((( Aber so herrlich das Konzert wie immer.
3 freaking songs of the new album on the setlist, i really miss the old ones
It's been 20 years, and bands naturally slightly focus more on a newer album
🥱
For me the setlist is well balanced and they freaking rocked the poor crowd 🎉❤
Quite natural for a festival in the 2nd year of their tour actually. Istanbul (feb’23) I think was the last one with 7 songs out of EBM. There’s always DM and many other bands who only play 4/5 songs out of the new album even in the beginning of the tour 😅
Thats the reason of low audience if you got 3 podiums ...an overkill ....so audience must split themself over these 3 podiums..which declares this empty fields ..
Sooo leer? Unglaublich 😢
D
Crowd sucks, just like paaspop Netherlands this year
