Dead Space 2 had a foam finger gun that did massive damage.
Primary fire made the character say "bang bang".
Secondary fire was "pew pew".

I don’t think it’s really a specific reference but rather just a nod to a Classic Video game Easter egg. Many games have had this “hand gun” as a cheat code in the era of Xbox and ps2. Time splitters was one off the top of my head

if you sit on each one of the couches for 1 minute each in that same room you can also get the korex charm if you put it on one of your weapons it refills the durability completely and that is the intended purpose you can't make it out of only scrap though but the materials are pretty easy considering you can just get them from the virals it's the uncommon thing I forgot the exact name but I got it and it's amazing I never have to worry about one of my weapons breaking ever again

In Dead Island there were a series of easter egg weapon blueprints. One of these were called the left hand of Glova. Which knocked enemies back and shocked them. Dead island is like a dying light ancestor btw. So I am very happy to see something like this in dying light.
