I remember when I was about twelve, some elder in some situation said that Armageddon would come within 15 years at most, and I remember my mother reacting negatively to it because she thought that was _waaaay_ too far into the future; 'how could an elder say such a thing'? But if that elder had been right, Armageddon would have come before the year 2000. It's now 2022, and I'm 49.

At 14 I asked an elder/friend "who gets to decide that a prophecy gets a second fulfillment?" He gave me crickets, and a scowl. Lesson learned? Never be afraid to ask questions and think for myself.
This is one of favourite topics and questions with active JWs. According to good old David Splaine, the Bible and only the Bible can determine which prophecies have a second fulfillment. If it isn't mentioned in the Bible as having two fulfillments, then it doesn't have two fulfillments. This single handedly nullifies many Watchtower doctrines. Yet still they teach them as fact.

@@donamills A second fulfilment is basically where a religious group claim that a passage in the scriptures has an initial fulfilment, and then a future greater fulfilment. Basically, any religious group can make up anything they like and claim that it is a second, or greater, fulfilment of something that the Bible claimed happened in ancient times. Having been raised as a JW, once I stopped believing I spent a good couple of years intensely studying and investigating the true history of the Watchtower organisation. I even purchased many of the early books from the 1920s and 30s. It very quickly became apparent to me that nearly all of the JW doctrines and teachings were based on so called Biblical 'second fulfillments' that were nothing more than ideas, conjecture and inventions from the minds of men.
Hi, I was born inside a JW family in Peru; I have been inactive for almost 15 years. All my family is still in the cult, and my sister is in incredible defensor of the JW org. It is difficult for me to explain in English the frustration I have to deal with each time I try to make them open their eyes. Religion has hurt many aspects of my life and their life but they do not realize it. When I finally decided to leave, the religion is was difficult, you felt like nobody outside this religion understood me, I tended to judge everything and everybody was bad people without beliefs or morals, everything was bad outside, and u couldn't trust people, which hurts social relationships. I changed a lot since then, live is just live, is not good is not bad...I am so happy to be outside now. Thank you for the information.
4 months ago I was contacted by an elder from my former congregation. He was 24 years old!!! He kindly tells me that he will be saddened by my imminent disappearance if I do not return quickly to the congregation. He warns me that the "end" is imminent and that it will be too late to change my mind when I see the first signs. I asked him nicely if Mr. Russell hadn't said the exact same thing 140 years earlier. He did not answer me and left without greeting me.
In his indoctrinated mind, you were just fulfilling 2 Peter 3:3-4. The author of 2 Peter was very aware of this kind of refutation of the doomsayer's spiel, so they took it and reworked it to be a prophecy confirming the legitimacy of the doomsayer's spiel: "See that? That question you just asked ... you're fulfilling prophecy! That very question is a fulfillment of prophecy proving that we're living in the last days!" This kind of tactic is also used by Paul when he condemns the wisdom of the world as a way to circumvent (in the minds of Christians) the logical reasoning of contemporary doubters of the faith. This kind of psychological tactic is the equivalent of a child who, when he discovers he's losing a game, arbitrarily changes the rules of the game mid-game, to circumvent the successes of his opponents and steal a victory. Throughout the Bible, wisdom is praised, but once it starts to show up the folly of the claims of the faithful, now the NT author turns on his heels and label's it as worldly wisdom which is foolishness to God.

For decades, Jehovah's Witnesses were proud to announce to the world that some people who saw 1914 would still be ALIVE to see the "end." Who would dare to teach this teaching as wholesome food from God? The more time passes, the more delusional the aging doctrines of this “church” will become. The cult of the Watchtower no longer has a future and its decline is inevitable.

I love your content, growing up a witness especially as a woman I was sexually abused by a brother who I then had to spend 2 years in a cong with him. I was denied formal education, which has lead to a Myriad of problems in my life. I finally decided to take the final slap in the organisations face and open a OF page to fund my nursing studies. The “disgusting thing and worldly people” have helped me more than witnesses ever did! Your info helped me take that final step!

I used to be a Jehovah's Witness growing up and would attend meetings with my Mum and Brother. Since 2012, we no longer attended Christian meetings. Mainly because my Mum had a brain aneurysm and needed a blood transfusion to save her life, which goes against the religious doctrines. Jehovah...It is widely used. It is considered by many to be hallowed, and it is also endeared by many a beautiful hymn, however, this name was never revealed by God. The name of “Jehovah” is a concoction of man. Therefore, it is a “mongrel,” a “hybrid;” and it is “fantastic” and “monstrous.” There is something very wrong with this euphonious name. The facts have only to be known to justify this verdict. What are the facts? Ever since the Babylonian invasion of Judea and the enforced diaspora of its people in 605 B.C., the Jews’ have a strong penchant for hiding the name of God from the Gentiles, and thus preventing the profaning of God’s revealed name. Later, the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages were known to raid Jewish synagogues, take the gold, and the Hebrew Scriptures [the Old Testament], and persecute Jews. The name and pronunciation of “Jehovah,” (and also the name Jesus) was unknown until 1520 A.D., when introduced and propagated by Peter Galatinus, Confessor to Pope Leo X, who noted in the stolen Hebrew Scriptures that there were Hebrew vowels placed onto the four consonants letters of God’s true name, YHWH [pronounced: Yod-Hey-Waw-Hey]. Peter Galatinus (1450-1540) did not know of the Jewish practice of placing vowels from another word, (accordingly one of the following words: Adonai {YaHoWaH}, Eloah {YeHoWaH}, Elohim {YeHoWiH}), and specifically Eloah, which created the name Jehovah. To those who reject the true revealed name of given to our Savior {YAHSHUA}, there is this warning: “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16). To use a false name not revealed by God as God’s name is tantamount to idolatry. IN HIS TRUTH, Halleluyah, Praise YAH, Praise YAHSHUA!

That was so well done! I am a recovering Christian (not JW) and totally relate to the entire story. I started expecting The Rapture, Armageddon, etc. In the early 1980s. We traumatized our children with those horrible movies and teaching them to be afraid of hell! I feel so guilty for that. 🥲

Have you heard of the Preacher in Brazil who convinced his flock to drink the Holy Milk of Jesus....from his penis??? LOL!!! It is a movie about all of the many religious leaders, especially in the Catholic church, who have buggered little children. At the end of the movie, they show several screen shots of lists of known Catholic Priest child molesters! I find it amazing and disgusting how so many gullible, superstitious, people can believe in such superstitious nonsense! God is just pretend and so is Jesus. Neither one ever existed. It's all just as made up as those many other, far more ancient religions from ancient Greece, Persia, Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Rome. In fact, those who wrote and copied the manuscripts that got put into the Wholly Babble wrote them in Greek. They also made up many of those characters by plagiarizing from those ancient religions! Example: the mythical Jesus character was plagiarized from several other, more ancient, religious characters who also were born of virgins, walked on water, turned water into wine, healed the sick, cast demons out of possessed people, made the blind see again, brought dead people back to life, died on a cross or in similar fashion, arose 3 days later, and people who believed in those characters believed that their "savior" would some day return to the Earth once again! They also believed in an end of the world scenario! So, that mythical Jesus character is nothing more than a copycat character that was plagiarized from more ancient mythical characters! These religions have slowly been dying, kicking and screaming, under the pressure of logic, reason, and science and their deceitful preachers are struggling to survive! I spit on all of them...the dirty creeps!
I've had one of these nutcases trying to convert me to 'real Christianity'. He was an ok kid when he was a child, though he came from an extremely religious family. Myself an atheist, who generally refrains from commenting on other people's religion, had to aggressively question everything known to me about the Bible, simply to get rid of him. I’ve been brought up JW though never baptized but have been searching for truth and have had several issues with doctrine and my own nagging belief doubts and I binged all Truth Hurts videos as soon as I found this. I really need some of that old litterateur to show my son before it’s too late as his mother is really pushing him into it.

It's better to get fewer, well-researched and overall better artistic videos than processed, mundane and dumbed down videos on a regular basis. That's actually the reason why I stopped watching a lot of guitar videos. Too much content, just exhausts the maker and results in worse quality with time

Love this it’s hilarious great work, but an ELDER would NEVER converse with an inactive witness this way they are always in control of the conversation it’s also usually 2 elders sheperding as the other would be the witness to the call.
That was your best video yet, Harrison. Very informative without actually hitting anyone over the head. If you were to show this to a real JW, they might close down and stop listening after a while. However, they are hearing even if they aren't listening. What they hear will be processed slowly, until it begins to chip away at their confidence in their cult's beliefs. This the way people are actually saved - saved from the cult they believe in and saved from a miserable life spent looking forward to a tomorrow that will never come. They will no longer be slaves.
Excellent and so true to life. Back in the 90's I used to receive regular visits from a lovely lady from the local Kingdom Hall. She tried to use the Bible to show me its wisdom and instruction. Unfortunately, for her, I had been an atheist for 20 years at that time and, like many of us, I knew the Bible very well. For every quote, I was able to show a contradiction or how it was taken out of context. On each challenge, she would jump from subject to subject. Eventually stopped coming and I have often wondered how so many people can be indoctrinated, even brainwashed into believing a doctrine so easily countered by common sense and, it must be said, so unpleasantly elitist.
I've had similar conversations with "well versed in the bible" elders. Also about putting money where their mouth is. Its always so much lieing to themselves that it's really sad to hear and see.

I remember when I was about twelve, some elder in some situation said that Armageddon would come within 15 years at most, and I remember my mother reacting negatively to it because she thought that was _waaaay_ too far into the future; 'how could an elder say such a thing'?

At 14 I asked an elder/friend "who gets to decide that a prophecy gets a second fulfillment?" He gave me crickets, and a scowl. Lesson learned? Never be afraid to ask questions and think for myself.
This is one of favourite topics and questions with active JWs. According to good old David Splaine, the Bible and only the Bible can determine which prophecies have a second fulfillment. If it isn't mentioned in the Bible as having two fulfillments, then it doesn't have two fulfillments. This single handedly nullifies many Watchtower doctrines. Yet still they teach them as fact.
Equally perplexing is who gets to decide if something in the Bible should be interpreted as literal or figurative.

Basically, any religious group can make up anything they like and claim that it is a second, or greater, fulfilment of something that the Bible claimed happened in ancient times.
Having been raised as a JW, once I stopped believing I spent a good couple of years intensely studying and investigating the true history of the Watchtower organisation. I even purchased many of the early books from the 1920s and 30s. It very quickly became apparent to me that nearly all of the JW doctrines and teachings were based on so called Biblical 'second fulfillments' that were nothing more than ideas, conjecture and inventions from the minds of men.

It is difficult for me to explain in English the frustration I have to deal with each time I try to make them open their eyes. Religion has hurt many aspects of my life and their life but they do not realize it. When I finally decided to leave, the religion is was difficult, you felt like nobody outside this religion understood me, I tended to judge everything and everybody was bad people without beliefs or morals, everything was bad outside, and u couldn't trust people, which hurts social relationships. 4 months ago I was contacted by an elder from my former congregation. He was 24 years old!!! He kindly tells me that he will be saddened by my imminent disappearance if I do not return quickly to the congregation. He warns me that the "end" is imminent and that it will be too late to change my mind when I see the first signs. I asked him nicely if Mr. Russell hadn't said the exact same thing 140 years earlier. He did not answer me and left without greeting me.
In his indoctrinated mind, you were just fulfilling 2 Peter 3:3-4. The author of 2 Peter was very aware of this kind of refutation of the doomsayer's spiel, so they took it and reworked it to be a prophecy confirming the legitimacy of the doomsayer's spiel: "See that? That question you just asked ... you're fulfilling prophecy! That very question is a fulfillment of prophecy proving that we're living in the last days!"
This kind of tactic is also used by Paul when he condemns the wisdom of the world as a way to circumvent (in the minds of Christians) the logical reasoning of contemporary doubters of the faith. This kind of psychological tactic is the equivalent of a child who, when he discovers he's losing a game, arbitrarily changes the rules of the game mid-game, to circumvent the successes of his opponents and steal a victory.
Throughout the Bible, wisdom is praised, but once it starts to show up the folly of the claims of the faithful, now the NT author turns on his heels and label's it as worldly wisdom which is foolishness to God.

Yes indeed, today more and more JWs are waking up and understanding that Acts 1:7 increasingly condemns the cult of the Watchtower.
“It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father has put in his power” Acts 1:7. The Watchtower Society does the exact opposite by constantly seeking to define this generation.
For decades, Jehovah's Witnesses were proud to announce to the world that some people who saw 1914 would still be ALIVE to see the "end." This teaching was widely disseminated for decades in Bible studies, public speaking, preaching, congregations, or Watchtower studies...this teaching was a perfectly established, "divine light." this teaching even made the cover of the Watchtower.
This “generation”, although so well established for decades, will be thrown in the trash in 1995 to be replaced by the generation of bad guys which will itself be thrown away again in 2008 for the benefit of the “elastic” generation.
All the lights that illuminate this “generation” have all proven to be more false than each other. Instead of humbly recognizing its inability to understand this “generation”, the GB prefers to persist in its false teachings, going so far as to distort and make incomprehensible the words of Jesus to artificially prolong the generation of 1914 which no longer exists. Stubbornness in error to the point of absurdity is a characteristic of proud humans. After pride comes the fall. Proverbs 16:18.
Today I don't know any JW who believes in this double superimposed generation taught by the Watchtower since 2008. Worse, JWs are ashamed of this teaching and do not dare to teach it to others. Who would dare to teach this teaching as wholesome food from God? The JW is so dependent on the Watchtower that they are ready to follow it in all its ramblings to the point of distorting the words of Jesus to artificially lengthen the generation of 1914 which no longer exists.
The more time passes, the more delusional the aging doctrines of this “church” will become. The cult of the Watchtower no longer has a future and its decline is inevitable.

My own father has questioned 'the truth' for years, especially Noah and the Ark story. I used to be a Jehovah's Witness growing up and would attend meetings with my Mum and Brother. Since 2012, we no longer attended Christian meetings. Mainly because my Mum had a brain aneurysm and needed a blood transfusion to save her life, which goes against the religious doctrines. Jehovah...It is widely used. It is considered by many to be hallowed, and it is also endeared by many a beautiful hymn, however, this name was never revealed by God. The name of “Jehovah” is a concoction of man. Therefore, it is a “mongrel,” a “hybrid;” and it is “fantastic” and “monstrous.” There is something very wrong with this euphonious name. The facts have only to be known to justify this verdict.
What are the facts?
Ever since the Babylonian invasion of Judea and the enforced diaspora of its people in 605 B.C., the Jews’ have a strong penchant for hiding the name of God from the Gentiles, and thus preventing the profaning of God’s revealed name. Later, the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages were known to raid Jewish synagogues, take the gold, and the Hebrew Scriptures [the Old Testament], and persecute Jews. The name and pronunciation of “Jehovah,” (and also the name Jesus) was unknown until 1520 A.D., when introduced and propagated by Peter Galatinus, Confessor to Pope Leo X, who noted in the stolen Hebrew Scriptures that there were Hebrew vowels placed onto the four consonants letters of God’s true name, YHWH [pronounced: Yod-Hey-Waw-Hey]. Peter Galatinus (1450-1540) did not know of the Jewish practice of placing vowels from another word, (accordingly one of the following words: Adonai {YaHoWaH}, Eloah {YeHoWaH}, Elohim {YeHoWiH}), and specifically Eloah, which created the name Jehovah. Jehovah is merely a combination of the Tetragrammaton (the four consonants: YHWH) and the vowels from another Hebrew word for God (namely: Eloah) arbitrarily placed onto the Tetragrammaton to remind the Jewish reader not to attempt to say the name of God, but to say, “Adonay,” instead.
It should be noted that words in the Hebrew Scriptures contain consonants only, no vowels, so when the Jewish reader would come upon YHWH, God’s name, he would inadvertently attempt to pronounce the name. Therefore vowels were added to remind the reader to say, “Adonay” instead of “the name” (HaShem). Noted Bible scholar J. B. Rotherham, stated, “To give… YHWH (Latin: IHVH {Iehovah} later JHVH {Jehovah} due to the later addition of the letter J in the seventeenth century) the vowels of the word (Eloah) to remind the Jewish reader to say, “Adonay,” and later to pronounce it “Jehovah,’ is about as hybrid a combination as it would be to spell the name of Germany with the vowels of Portugal-viz., Gormuna” (the Emphasized Bible, J. B. Rotherham, 1994, Kregel Publication, Pp. 24-25). Jehovah in its present form has only existed since the seventeenth century. Fact: God’s essential name is YAH, and Bible scholars acknowledge YAHWEH (for YAH, see Strong’s #3050), as in “Praise YAH,” in Hebrew: “Halleluyah.” YAH is the name above every name (Philippians 2:9). YAH is from the root word of HAYAH (I AM). The Savior identified Himself as the I AM (John 8:58). Je-hovah, “hovah” in Hebrew means “RUIN and MISCHIEF,” and “Calamity” (see Strong’s Dictionary of Bible Words #1943). “Jehovah” is a monstrous name that means “Ruin and Mischief.” Besides the vowels of Eloah, the Jews also at times used the vowels of Elohim, producing the false name: “Yehovih” (see Strong’s Dictionary of Bible Words, #3069), which was done to remind the Jewish reader in the synagogues to say, “Adonay” instead of speaking the name of God.
The Jewish Encyclopedia, states, “This name is commonly represented in modern translations by the form Jehovah, which, however, is a philological impossibility” (p. 160). The Jehovah’s Witnesses admittedly make a similar reference that the name Jehovah is inferior (in their Book: Let Your Name be Sanctified (p. 16). The name Jehovah is not the name of God! Consequently, the name Jesus is not Christ’s name either. The name of God is so important and lost, that the LORD must restore it. The LORD said, “For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language, that they all may call on the name of the LORD” (Zephaniah 3:9). To those who reject the true revealed name of given to our Savior {YAHSHUA}, there is this warning: “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16). To use a false name not revealed by God as God’s name is tantamount to idolatry.

That was so well done! I am a recovering Christian (not JW) and totally relate to the entire story. I started expecting The Rapture, Armageddon, etc. In the early 1980s. We traumatized our children with those horrible movies and teaching them to be afraid of hell! I feel so guilty for that. 🥲

I was never baptized but struggled with finding a church to go back to after hearing the answers they had for everything. I wish you could see this, I don't know how to put this. This elder in the video was quite reasonable to have sat for so long as much as he doesn't seem to be getting anything 😂😂. Most would have left as soon as the king of the north was brought up.

Have you heard of the Preacher in Brazil who convinced his flock to drink the Holy Milk of Jesus....from his penis??? LOL!!! That deluded pervert even tried to convince the officers that eventually arrested him to also drink the Holy Milk of Jesus! LOL!!! Watch the TV movie called "Spotlight"! It is a movie about all of the many religious leaders, especially in the Catholic church, who have buggered little children. At the end of the movie, they show several screen shots of lists of known Catholic Priest child molesters! I find it amazing and disgusting how so many gullible, superstitious, people can believe in such superstitious nonsense! God is just pretend and so is Jesus. Neither one ever existed. It's all just as made up as those many other, far more ancient religions from ancient Greece, Persia, Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Rome. In fact, those who wrote and copied the manuscripts that got put into the Wholly Babble wrote them in Greek. They also made up many of those characters by plagiarizing from those ancient religions! Example: the mythical Jesus character was plagiarized from several other, more ancient, religious characters who also were born of virgins, walked on water, turned water into wine, healed the sick, cast demons out of possessed people, made the blind see again, brought dead people back to life, died on a cross or in similar fashion, arose 3 days later, and people who believed in those characters believed that their "savior" would some day return to the Earth once again! They also believed in an end of the world scenario! So, that mythical Jesus character is nothing more than a copycat character that was plagiarized from more ancient mythical characters! These religions have slowly been dying, kicking and screaming, under the pressure of logic, reason, and science and their deceitful preachers are struggling to survive! I spit on all of them...the dirty creeps!

I've had one of these nutcases trying to convert me to 'real Christianity'.
He was an ok kid when he was a child, though he came from an extremely religious family. Myself an atheist, who generally refrains from commenting on other people's religion, had to aggressively question everything known to me about the Bible, simply to get rid of him. Thankfully, he got the message.

I’ve been brought up JW though never baptized but have been searching for truth and have had several issues with doctrine and my own nagging belief doubts and I binged all Truth Hurts videos as soon as I found this. I really need some of that old litterateur to show my son before it’s too late as his mother is really pushing him into it.

The terrifying truth that someone you spend your entire life thinking was a true friend, to say, a "brother" that will turn on a dime, to treat you like a crazy person, a dangerous, leprosy-ridden monster consumed by some mysterious lies that you've "fallen prey" to. It's better to get fewer, well-researched and overall better artistic videos than processed, mundane and dumbed down videos on a regular basis. That's actually the reason why I stopped watching a lot of guitar videos. Too much content, just exhausts the maker and results in worse quality with time

That was your best video yet, Harrison. Very informative without actually hitting anyone over the head. If you were to show this to a real JW, they might close down and stop listening after a while. However, they are hearing even if they aren't listening. What they hear will be processed slowly, until it begins to chip away at their confidence in their cult's beliefs. This the way people are actually saved - saved from the cult they believe in and saved from a miserable life spent looking forward to a tomorrow that will never come. They will no longer be slaves.

Back in the 90's I used to receive regular visits from a lovely lady from the local Kingdom Hall. She tried to use the Bible to show me its wisdom and instruction. Unfortunately, for her, I had been an atheist for 20 years at that time and, like many of us, I knew the Bible very well. For every quote, I was able to show a contradiction or how it was taken out of context. On each challenge, she would jump from subject to subject. Eventually stopped coming and I have often wondered how so many people can be indoctrinated, even brainwashed into believing a doctrine so easily countered by common sense and, it must be said, so unpleasantly elitist.
I've had similar conversations with "well versed in the bible" elders. Also about putting money where their mouth is. Its always so much lieing to themselves that it's really sad to hear and see.
