    I enjoyed looking back at the 4400 which I ran some as a teenager. It was either this one or perhaps one we had before the 4400 which had three external A/C condenser fans on the roof of the cab and each time the grain bin was emptied, you were supposed to hold a toggle switch to reverse them to blow out any trash and dust that had accumulated. Great John Deere memories. Thanks.

    The Titan was such an improvement over the hundred. The unloading system alone was worth the trade. Our 7700 was always unloading issues. 6600 was good. Can’t wait till the Titan video by far my favorite combine

      Our 6600 also had unloading problems, but it was mostly due to 25 years of rust (at that time).

    Nice video...very good work. I like what you had to say on the 4400, as my father had a 1979 model. I just love the titan series combines; whoever Deere hired or had as engineers when they came out with that rounded styled cab, were brilliant....just love the looks of those machines.

    We had a 7700 turbo, it was the last Deere combine on the yard. The world had passed them by. We went to NH rotaries after that, plus JD didn't have the turret auger and I'd like to slap the engineer that thought putting the return elevator under the seat was a good idea. You can't even get under there without removing the seat. Dumb designed combine all the way around. Love our NH combines

    My Late Uncle had a 3300 and a farm I used to work on had a 6600 -( Which I thought was kind of odd since he farmed with White and Oliver Tractors and Implements... You would have thought he would have went with a White or Oliver Combine.)...

He bought a 4430 With Sound Guard and FWA brand new in 77 then a used 4230 Sound Guard with FWA,3020 ROPS then traded the 4230 for a 6400 Sound Guard with FWA...

    Wonder why they went backwards from the 95-105s and made the cab off set to the left and the engine right next to the cab and every single belt it seems under the seat?

      @@LocustMotorWorks Circa 1962 Massey Ferguson, that had basically owned the self propelled combine market in North America since WWII, introduced the 300, 410, and 510. If you look at one of those old 1960s Massey combines it is pretty obvious that the Deere combines of the 1970s were modeled after them. My understanding is that the rotary radiator screen was patented as was the turret style unloading auger so John Deere could not add those two features to their combines until 1974 and 1979 respectively when the patents ran out.
      One reason for Deere's success is that they let other companies do their R&D for them. When the new Deere 7000 and 8000 series tractors came out in 1993 my first thought was "I have seen this tractor before but it was painted orange." Pretty sure when AC closed up shop some of the laid off engineers from West Allis probably headed down to Waterloo with the blueprints for the 8000 series tractors in their briefcases. LOL
      When John Deere sued Kinze for copying their Max Emerge planter they lost because everything on it that they claimed to have invented was proven by Kinze's lawyers to have been copied from someone else.

    Just my experience,,,,,, having run a 70 4400 and a 76 4400 and a 70 6600 as well as a 75 4030 SGB as well as a 75 4630 SGB I never seen a brown cloth seat "personal posture" seat factory installed in a 30 series SGB tractor. Those came factory installed on the 40 series SGB cab tractors with the hydraulic seat suspension. I put one in my 4030, seat only, no hydraulic suspension, and seems it was like $500, A lot of money back in late 70's early 80's. We did have the brown cloth personal posture in our 76 4400, A lot nicer to put down the armrest for additional passengers.

    • @trevorn9381
      @trevorn9381 3 місяці тому

      The personal posture seat was an option on the 30 series tractors after about 1975 when they widened the seat well in the SGB. We had a 1976 4230 that came from the factory with mechanical seat suspension and the personal posture seat. The hydraulic seat suspension was actually an option on all of the 40 series SGB tractors except the 4840 that came with it as standard equipment. Most 40 series tractors have it but I have seen a few with the mechanical suspension like a 30 series.
      Dad put a personal posture seat in a 1973 4400 combine we had. The deere dealer made him a deal on it because a customer had ordered it and his combine burnt up in the field before it came in and the guy took the insurance money and bought a new 6620 so had no need for the cloth seat he had ordered for his 4400.
