I just tore down a 92 mustang 5.0 this week with the intake and exhaust manifold and head gaskets all this style. There weren't any issues with them, I'm just rebuilding it. They're more work to remove 100%, but I can't say I've had trouble with them failing in particular over other styles. Just a pain to remove. I've heard they're good if your surfaces aren't in the best condition with deep scratches or slight warpage, but idk. Maybe... 👍
They have good perforated gaskets. I work as a dynotech and we run the motors 1200c for days or weeks ex is cherry red. And the gaskets we use are perforated with stainless inner core. They work great
Even on headers, I use factory style exhaust manifold gaskets on the head, and copper shim on the collector. Header gaskets absolutely suck, they get hard and blow out after about 7 heating cycles
I had to use some super thick crushing Gaskets on my truck because I had a stud break off and couldn't for the life of me get it loose. So I use the ones I mentioned and even missing one stud of clamping force it doesn't leak at all. I'd rather use oem. But if you have to go aftermarket what can you do lol
I’ve never had an issue. I thought a thicker gasket might be better. I have had a couple times in my career where a new oem style failed from the gasket somehow burning up
The MLS gaskets are reusable if you are broke, i’ve even reused MLS head gaskets before. The perforated graphite ones suck all around and leave shit behind.
Those are garbage. They send them due to poor quality control and uneven mounting surfaces or warpage of the headers or exhaust. I uavent found that style in better manufacturer quality headers.
I definitely prefer OEM gaskets. They are almost always made better, except in very rare occasions when the aftermarket gasket is sourced from the OEM and rebranded.
I would agree, oem parts if you can always. Those perforated ones fall apart when you remove them also.
They are the worst. I believe they use them to make up the diffence in warpage, due to shitty metal they use
I have had bad experiences with the included gaskets. Never had an issue with Remflex gaskets though snd i use them now for everything.

I’d rather use a used OEM than a new one of those.

I’m here for the tools and the dry wit

I would use those thick gaskets only if there are no other options. OE style is far better.
Having a bad experience with that style gasket right now as we speak.
Yup. Had a new one blow out a few months back within a couple days.
Ya I agree i use MLS on exhaust and head gaskets if available
Huge fan of MLS .

I've never had any problems with them 🤷🏽♂️ they are definitely one time use tho, ain't no trying to salvage them
Lmao “I understand”
absolutely 100% correct!

Yes those are horrible, best ones are oe or for aftermarket headers are the compressible ones Mr.gasket think they are..
Those Chinese gaskets are trash
Yeah the thick gaskets are junk
Those are trash. Flat steel oem or MLS only.

Re use a head gasket? Your kidding..Right?
Junk

Never had a problem. Of course, I always use a good dollop of Elmer's Glue.
Those look like trash
Had horrible experience with those on my GTi
