      @@AdamCrohn the problem for me was not really the joints or cracks, but rusty screws and old o rings. id replace the screw in the back because my grandpa always had a whole phalanx of em lol. lets just say those toys were meant for me due to the fact many handymen and women are in the family lol

    I sold half of my collection all with broken O rings from when I was a kid. Moving on to batch two I wanted to save a choice batch of them for nostalgia. This video is a huge help. Had no clue where to begin with fixing them. Thanks !!!
    So is the changing of the screw just for appearance reasons? Can reuse the old screw if it looks okay?

    i used to use really durable hardy work type o ring bands for them
    idk why but they were strong. my dad laced them around his tattoo gun or something like that, but they worked amazing
    lol boy i remember when my old man found out. his inner 80's kid came back for a moment and understood lol he was a bit irritated but didnt mind too bad. ah memories.

    I usually fix mine with replacing the o-ring and then hot gluing them together inside the crotch area for extra support. It inhibits the movement, but I'm only using them for display and the glue makes them pretty sturdy. The glue is strong and fast drying and since it's just wax, you can peel it off without it leaving any damage.

    You're better off reusing the old pointy screws on early figures since the flat end ones can crack the plastic and not go in easily. Just soak them in white vinegar for a little while and the rust wipes off. It's pretty much impossible to find pointed screw replacements. I believe they were specially made for these.

    How to get the screw out the back if it striped and won't come out can't replace the o ring cuz can't get the screw out ideas 💡

    • @AdamCrohn
      @AdamCrohn  Рік тому +2

      That's tough, but it can be done by getting a drill bit smaller than the head, roughly the same size as the shank. Carefully drill through the screw head until you get a decent bite with the bit. Leave the bit in place in the screw and remove the Dremel. Put a drop of super glue down the bit and let it dry on the head. After a few minutes use a wrench and clamp onto the bit and unscrew. Just keep the wrench as level as possible. Any down or up force and you risk breaking the bit.
