Zartan was my boy... Thanks AC.
My pleasure, Eric! Zartan is amazing! Thanks for being here 🤙
Zartan is awesome.
Hahaha same problem bud! Fix em Up YOooo Joe! 🤣
🙌🙏👍
Fun video. It's always cool to have a refresher on repairs. I'm here by way of TheCrafsMan and I've been bingeing your videos and thoroughly enjoying all of them.
Thanks so much for coming over! Crafsman is a good buddy, and he's sent some great folks to my UA-cam and Patreon. I appreciate you being here!
You both have great channels. I love the passion and it doesn't get any better than some good toy videos.
YO JOE!!! greetings from Costa Rica
Thanks for being here, my friend!
I really enjoyed this. The likening of stretching to working out made a lot of sense & an anatomy lesson is always a win!
Lance! Thanks man. Always make sure your toys get enough stretching before exercise!
@@AdamCrohn the problem for me was not really the joints or cracks, but rusty screws and old o rings. id replace the screw in the back because my grandpa always had a whole phalanx of em lol. lets just say those toys were meant for me due to the fact many handymen and women are in the family lol
I sold half of my collection all with broken O rings from when I was a kid. Moving on to batch two I wanted to save a choice batch of them for nostalgia. This video is a huge help. Had no clue where to begin with fixing them. Thanks !!!
So is the changing of the screw just for appearance reasons? Can reuse the old screw if it looks okay?
Thanks for sharing I have a bunch of figures that need to be to be fixed so I’m using this to teach my son how to fix my old toys. Much appreciated!
Glad you dig it. Thanks for being here, John!
i used to use really durable hardy work type o ring bands for them
idk why but they were strong. my dad laced them around his tattoo gun or something like that, but they worked amazing
lol boy i remember when my old man found out. his inner 80's kid came back for a moment and understood lol he was a bit irritated but didnt mind too bad. ah memories.
i stop using Orings and put cable tie 3" only cut the extra and make it fit inside it never melt due to the hot room temps anymore :), i was piss off i bought a lot of orings and last a month or so, then try the cable tie and swap all to that and none has broke since and are tighter like new or better
#8 or #9 plumber's O-rings ... $.09 ea. from any hardware store.
Geez. Thank you. That’s what I came looking for not; “Uhhh. I don’t know what size these are but this is what they look like” 🤦🏼♂️
@@f-150yeti2 it depends on the year as well buy both 8 and 9 cant rember wich fits better with 82 83 Joe's.
@@sesmutt9 8.5 are perfect
Now if we could just get a size on the back and leg screws.
@@lavajava9 yeah, I haven't dug that deep yet.
Easier said than done! Tried doing this to mine and got the ring, torso and legs together with no problem. The arms and head won't stay in. Spent over an hour on it and nothing. Very frustrating!
You'll get it after a few tries. Persistence!
@@AdamCrohn Hope so! Will definitely try again!(At least the band and torso was easy)
@@Jerry74 Keep me posted!
muy buena reparacion¡¡¡ saludos¡¡¡
I usually fix mine with replacing the o-ring and then hot gluing them together inside the crotch area for extra support. It inhibits the movement, but I'm only using them for display and the glue makes them pretty sturdy. The glue is strong and fast drying and since it's just wax, you can peel it off without it leaving any damage.
Thank you bro...some of my 80s Joe's are loose from the waist and some screws are rusty..I'm gonna need to do this soon..you earned a new subscriber...
I loved your video! As I’ve been preparing to move and going through my sons toys I was shocked how many of the G I Joes had come apart! I’m s thrifty, resourceful, and nostalgic person and just couldn’t bear to toss all these broken Joes. Praying I can repair them !
When I searched for the screws at the website you shared with us they are currently unavailable. Would you be willing to share another source where the screws are available?
how did you get zartan apart to fix his o ring does it still change color in sunlight
As you can see in the video, I just unscrewed him like the rest. It does not affect his color change.
@@acdrawstuff cool did you have to do anything special to get him apart since his chest is glued together
Your tutorial was straight forward and well done ! Ive done a few Joes but have never done the "O" ring stretching exercises ! It makes sense and will be doing an early Scarlett next. I'll make sure I give her "O" ring the treatment before screwing her, back together !
Good channel.
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful, and I appreciate you stopping by. AC
You're better off reusing the old pointy screws on early figures since the flat end ones can crack the plastic and not go in easily. Just soak them in white vinegar for a little while and the rust wipes off. It's pretty much impossible to find pointed screw replacements. I believe they were specially made for these.
I'm sorry, I'm sure this video is very engaging but I can't take my eyes off the picture of Hall and Oates on your laptop.
I know! It's crazy!
Interesting. I did not know this was how to repair them. Thanks for the info 👍
I looked on Amazon and they suggest other sellers for the O rings. Do you recommend those sellers as well. I’m a bit confused as to the fact that there are different size O rings. What size do you recommend?
This is very useful because I need a replacement O-ring for my Zartan action figure, brilliant video dude.
Glad you dig it! Thanks for watching.
Would you lease share the source through which you buy your O rings and the size to order
Would you please share with us where you purchase your O rings?
All the links are already in the description of the video. You can also search for them in eBay.
Washer is a #9
How to get the screw out the back if it striped and won't come out can't replace the o ring cuz can't get the screw out ideas 💡
That's tough, but it can be done by getting a drill bit smaller than the head, roughly the same size as the shank. Carefully drill through the screw head until you get a decent bite with the bit. Leave the bit in place in the screw and remove the Dremel. Put a drop of super glue down the bit and let it dry on the head. After a few minutes use a wrench and clamp onto the bit and unscrew. Just keep the wrench as level as possible. Any down or up force and you risk breaking the bit.
Thanks I'll try it
But hoe u going to get the glue on the head if it already screwed own in the screw
Oh hell yeah. I need this video!
Glad to hear it, Chef!
HOW CAN I REPLACE THE METAL "SCREWS" in their arms/.!??!?
Those aren't screws, they're rivets. As far as I know you can't replace them. Not sure why you would want to.
@@AdamCrohn ... its okay, Scorched Earth Videos answered my question through his tutorial videos. You should check some of them out so you can understand why people would want to remove and replace.
Very cool tutorial. Thanks for sharing! Oh, and digging that C.C. "Higher Truth" t-shirt!
I miss that guy every day. Thanks for stopping by!
Same. His passing hit me harder than most. When I'm crafting, I usually have his catalog of music playing in the background.
Are these figures safe for children to play with after repairing?
Great video, can you tell me where you got those screws from? I have a few figures with stripped screws I was able to remove but not I can't seem to figure out the size or where to get some.
Off eBay. I just searched for vintage GI Joe screws. Thanks for watching!
Where did you purchase the stands?
Also in the description. Did you read the description?
I have cyborg General Blitz and he has no crotch and his legs are different. Not sure how to fix him
Theirs numbers to rings so I'll be careful I'm a bit rusty but will get back to me ha ha.
I'm going to send you $1000000 to your patreon.
Its. Good. But. To. Fast
