The burst fire likely comes from Wargaming being impressed at the amount of shells Johnston fired during the Battle Off Samar. In the first few minutes alone Johnston fired 200 shots at the IJN Kumano, and the battle lasted all day.
Actually the battle was only about 3 hours, from just before 7AM and Kurita ordered a withdrawal about 9:30AM. But you're right about the volume of fire. The Sammy B fired all it's 5" stuff before being destroyed and it only has two guns, not 5 like the Fletcher class.
She should have gotten some sort of survivability buff, not DPM. But WG being WG... I kinda wanted a smokeless, french speedboost and french saturation/repairs fletcher...
Superships and these F Keys really are one of the worst things that happened to this Game. But hey another legendary ship. Commander Evans made significant impact on the Battle of Samar through his aggressive and decisive actions. He went down with his ship and his remains were never found. He was later awarded the medal of Honor for his remarkable thinking and for his contribution to winning the war. He was actually the first native American to be awarded the medal of Honor. It´s a really interesting story, definitely worth looking in to.
The lack of a heal really ruined the significance of the historical value, if you read the story. The fact that they didn't also have Capt. Evans, who was awarded the CMH, with some kind of special commander skills, is also sad.
WG insulted not only the real ship but the Johnston herself and it's crew, insulted the people who died and those who survived that battle. If it weren't for the Johnston and Samuel B Robert's more would have died. USS Johnston / USS Samuel B Robert's rest in peace. o7 🇺🇸
For them to have him in the game the family would have to give them permission. To be honest if I was the family I would say no. It would be awesome that they would want to have him included no doubt. However just as a person putting myself in there shoes ide have to say no because I don't want his name to be used for monitory reasons. Also there's a level of respect as yes he commanded the ship. But the crew was just as important if not more important then the captain and you wouldn't want to disrespect them. If I was the family I'd be fine with them creating a world of warships Legends episode that talks about the ship/crew and battle to ensure the story of the USS Johnson is not forgotten. That would be completely acceptable.
LOL with the score in the game chat. On that note, surrpised how far in advance you did the review. Personally, I do think, though, that Johnston should've had some survivability gimmick (combat instruction or something). Big fan, BTW!
gun focus makes more sense seeing as how she got sunk. now if they ever put in the Kumano that the fletcher hit with a torpedo in that battle, that IJN mogami class would certainly deserve a repair for how many times it had been struck and had to go back for repairs
On October 25th, 1944, a true David vs Goliath battle took place, with Americas contingent consisting of 6 escort carriers, 3 destroyers, and 4 destroyer escorts, facing off with The IJN's 4 battleships, 6 heavy cruisers, 2 light cruisers, and 11 destroyers, including the Super battleship Yamato which weighed as much as all 13 American vessels combined. In the face of impossible overwhelming odds, Commander Ernest E. Evans, aka "Big Chief", fulfilled his pledge when he took command of USS Johnston, a Fletcher class destroyer, when he was quoted saying, "This is going to be a fighting ship. I intend to go in harm’s way, and anyone who doesn’t want to go along had better get off right now.” Over the course of several hours, Taffy 3's "tin can fleet" fought relentlessly with fearless impunity, to the point where the Imperial Japanese Navy vastly superior forces elected to turn back from the relative damage inflicted by the such meager American forces, for surely more American vessels were inbound to punctuate the efforts. Little did they know, that 130,000 unprotected US Marines were just around the corner, ready to fulfill McArthur's promise to return to retake the Phillipine Islands, and Taffy 3, who suffered extensive losses, had no reinforcements, they were in fact, the only thing standing between US Marines, and a barrage of insurmountable devastation that this Japanese fleet could have unleashed... Lost for 77 years, in October 2019, the late Paul Allen's (Vulcan Inc) research vessel Petrel happened across a mysterious debris field, on the edge of an undersea cliff looming into the deepest abyss, 20,000 below the surface. Too deep for even the Petrel to explore, it wasn't until March 31st, 2021, DD-557, USS Johnston and Commander Ernest Evans presumed final resting place were positively identified by a Diving Support Vessel piloted by Victor Vescovo, 21,200 below the surface of the Ocean, her guns still trained to starboard and ready, a last echo of defiance, and tribute to her Captain, "Chief" Evans, the first Native American to receive the Medal of Honor, awarded posthumously after the conclusion of the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
Thanks for the review, sir! Hope your exams went well! What are you studying if you dont mind me asking? Big Fan, btw. Edit: and a big yes to a Fletcher Class game.
Good to have you back. I’ve also received my exam results. Actually, I’ve already finished my studies with a first degree, 😎👉🎓so you have talented viewers. Hehe. I wish you the best results too! LargeFan!
They should of gave it French saturation with the funny button. Or give it a heal. Its Johnston know for taking alot of hits. With no heal it isn't like the real Johnston with the legend of survival against all odds for quite a while in the battle. The dpm with out using funny button is horrible. It was better off just getting sap and heal
USN ships, excluding the Vermont line, are all very beautiful at Tier 8 and above. Only nation that is very consistent in making beautiful designs, imho. Of course, the other nations at T9/T10 are all paper anyways aside from Japan and few other random ships.
No way am i paying for this ship. WG smoking crack as always. We just don't get free, or free to earn ships anymore. Minus the one pity ship per dockyard.
Thanks Maltese, got my Johnson through the trade in for my Malta, which I had excess coal to turn around and rebuy the CV. So it wasn't too much. I think it under 3K additional gold total...
This was all the proof I needed Wargaming is using bots to glaze over their hyperpredatory monetization 😂 (Johnston wasn’t available in the trade-in event)

She ran out of AP, so went for HE, then reportedly used starshells. Even spent all her torps
I would really enjoy your review of the various varieties of Fletcher in WOWs. Thank you for all you do for us.
She should have gotten some sort of survivability buff, not DPM.
But WG being WG...
I kinda wanted a smokeless, french speedboost and french saturation/repairs fletcher...
Open water gunning with fletcher arcs...not the most fruitful thing unless they buff the arcs.

Not having Evans as her commander is a failure by WG, they need to correct that
AFAIK use of the persons name actually requires permission from the family.

@@XmasterX4087 JFC its not that deep. Wargaming making a gameplay decision is not insulting anyone, get over yourself.

Big fan, BTW!
That WHATTT right after defendng afk farming was fantastic 😂
really nice. I was afraid that you wouldn't hit that Le Fantasque with that arcs :)

Yea if you think about it, the ship should have gotten an anti-heal because it sunk, true true
I'm a flecther main so it would be awesome that you made a video about covering every fletcher class
Loving the Johnston. Fun fun boat. Sap does crazy damage

Maltese Big fan
Does the MBAAS affect burst reload? If not, maybe it's not worth taking and go with consulmable expert instead?
You can also get her on the premium shop for ~$85
Where have you seen that? I've only seen it in the bundle for 130 bucks
@@ryan-ef8up On wows website in premium shop.
I am grinding the line for fletcher. Helping me to learn dwstory3rs. Ty
Id love to see a FLETCHER Compilation!
Thanks for the review, sir! Hope your exams went well! What are you studying if you dont mind me asking? Big Fan, btw.
Edit: and a big yes to a Fletcher Class game.
I’ve heard that she also gets the French damage saturation, is that true?
no
No, it's what players wanted, and WG said "we know better so she gets a DPM buff and F key"
Is this car worth selling my house to buy, yes or no?
I’d like a video about all the Fletcher Class ships in the game.
Good to have you back. I’ve also received my exam results.

Yes please do a feature on all fletcher classes.
nice one mate

Tier IX US might be the most aesthetically pleasing tier+country in the game.
TBF on not adding a heal, she DID sink...
She also did repair herself multiple times. Patching up holes, repairing machinery and whatnot while it found itself in smoke or in storm
i love watching videos and this is one

Lately you've been talking a lot about your exams. What do you study ?
I believe that he is a fellow math masters student.
I love how looks V Veneto class BB
its actually light grey
comment for the algorithm big fan
Send your torps at one ship and shoot another ship, you loose torp hits a lot.
Johnston deployed 😎📷
I was told to comment :)
This is my comment. There are many other like it, but this one in mine.
The algorithm doesn't actually care about comments anymore *because* people just spam them, and also there's so many bots and UA-cam can't stop them
Commenting for the algorithm 😎🌶
yup, it got hit three times by yamato shells
this thing is kind of like a smaland
This version should have either gotten a heal or French saturation mechanic. Instead of the stupid burst fire gimmick.
Whoever moves first
Another tech tree stomping prem that i'll never play because I refuse to participate in whale gambling. Thanks for the review.
nice gameplay, all for the algorithm ;)
This comment is for malteseknight
For malteseknight and for the algorithm this comment is
What a weird design with more dpm using burst.
Comment for algorithm
Comments, comments, comments. Fodder for the Algorithm.
70 dollars for a T9 ship. Meanwhile elden ring dlc is 40 dollars. dont fkin buy this shit ppl
