Excellent video James. I’m in Colorado 7700 feet. I had no luck last year. With your wonderful lesson I am going to try again. Thank you and give that sweet Tuck a pet. Diana.
Great video as always, thanks for sharing! I've learned so much watching your channel. My family and I have started a small backyard garden. We're learning how to homecan, seed save, make compost, and preserve what we grow. Less than 2 years in our new home and we've completely transformed the backyard. We are beginner gardeners, growing and learning along the way. Recently I started a gardening channel to help encourage others to begin growing as well. No time better than now to learn self sufficiency. Thanks for all you do. 💚🌱
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Tuck is the cutest! I love how he keeps you company in the garden. I am also passionate about cucumbers and even though I have been gardening for many years, I always learn something new from your channel. The squash trick for the beetles is genius. I usually grow 2 - 3 varieties. 2 slicing and a pickling variety. Being in zone 5, I wait until the 3 rd or 4 th week in May and I seed directly into the soil. Here in Southern New Hampshire we often have a short spring and the weather warms up quickly, so my seeds germinate in less than a week. My direct seeded plant always seem to do much better than my starts. Thanks for your channel. I look forward to seeing what you are planting this year.
i love that you and tuck are not taking a break from YT when its frost season. love that you are still updating us how the food forest looks when the plants are still growing. 😊
There are several gardeners that I watch regularly....but, I do think I find you the most inspiring. Your energy and positivity are very contagious. Thank you for the time you spend educating and encouraging. ❤️ I love seeing Tuck too🥰. He is gorgeous! Much love to you and yours from the great state of Missouri!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My 16 month old and I love watching your channel. He especially loves Tuck. He points and says "awwww" and giggles at him. It's the cutest. Thanks Tuck and James!
It's my favorite thing to grow. When I grew them for the first time a few years ago I was blown away by how much better they taste than the ones at the store.
What you said about staying on top of picking so the vine keeps producing flowers/cucumbers was a light bulb moment for me, I've never considered this before, but makes so much sense, learned something new, thanks!!
I grow my cucumbers in hills. I put about 5 seeds in each hill and put the hills about two feet apart. And I trellis them. I have a great crop every year. I also plant radish between the hills. I leave the radish there all season. I believe it detours insect pests.
This was your first video I've ever watched. I've been gardening for many many years and your information is spot-on and you even taught me a couple things. Really nice work. Thank you. I just subscribed
I typically haven't had good experiences with small dogs. We prefer big dogs... that said Tuck is absolutely changing the stigma on that. What a special boy and he is so well behaved you can tell that you two are bonded in love. Your channel is outstanding.

Great job James and of course, The Boss Tuck is essential to all our instruction. Thank you for your training and even more your positive attitude and excitement for gardening.
When I was a kid my dad plowed up the backyard and planted the best gardens I've ever seen and I'm 65 now. Helping pick those huge cukes was a lot of fun. My mom always made cuke salads. My dad had a green thumb and everything was delicious like on steroids. To this day I never saw a cucumber as big as the one he grew that measured 14 inches long by 4 inches in diameter.
💚💚💚You and Tuck are the best!!!! I hope to have a garden like yours someday, and I’m going to have so much fun getting there! So much knowledge and information and fun! Thank you so much!!
I'm first-year planting! I've never had luck growing anything (I even kill cactus), but this year it's been great so far! I don't know what changed, but my black thumb is greener every day. I thank you and a few others for advice and encouragement to push through. Even if it's not a successful germination, sprouts get too leggy, etc., it's all part of the learning process. I'm quite enjoying it so far!😍😍
James, your videos are inspirational, informative, and even well-edited, which is nice. You've definitely influenced my growing in a big way. Even my 16 yo son said my raised beds looked good today. Do you compost? What happens with all the clippings at the end of the year? Thx!

Hi .. I planted my seeds in a covered top container last week .. they are already about 1 inch tall.. thanks for the video..Tuck is so sweet and cute 🥰
Hi James, how do you protect your cucumbers from slugs when they are young. I find when they are older they are more protected. But I use lots of mulch so therefor I have lots of slugs.
We have a slug problem too. We made beer traps out of coffee canisters (little ramps go up to windows we cut out, and there's beer in them to drown the slugs). That helps. Otherwise we toss them out by hand when we're out there as well. It is a never-ending battle for us.
