19 years ago I was privileged to sit listening to the full band in their practice room hall under Gary Cutt. I can only recall they rehearsed Ruby Tuesday and the Prince Igor overture, the latter being played in full without a break which was thrilling for this particular fan. Solo cornet was Richard Marshall.
Thank you, this is excellent. I Recognised the piece from the film brassed off and I couldn't renember the name of it. First piece of music played in the film if my memory serves me.
I find it funny that they too think the regular small march book has a too low position on many stands Me too, I use these tricks to have it a little higher. The soprano player sounds like he plays easier up high than the others in the normal range. I gave it up myself since I never found that ease and it became too much of a burden. When traveling with the band, the others stayed up, had fun, while I went to bed early so my lips could recover. I had to do that.
Do you mean they play like Germans? I wouldn't immediately know why, but perhaps because they like a round, sweet sound?? But the Germans would prefer even more broadness and darkness I guess.
FANTASTIC!
This is how music should be played!
Brilliant yorkshire thru and thrux
I can remember sitting in a similar band room 20+ years ago playing Brass band stuff like this, I miss those days.
What stops you getting back into it ?
Time is everyone’s job!! Brilliant.
