A fantastic tale of the struggle to survive and keep some sort of moral existence in a new dawn of chaos and crime. This draws you into the dark realisation of just how fragile our society is bound together. How right and wrong is not as black and white as we all have been led to believe. Perfect acting and sound effects make this a true classic and just as fresh as when it was first written. Great choice, thanks for sharing 👍 😀 🙏.
I first read the book 50 odd years ago when I was at school and it scared the pants off me so much that I then read some other of John Wyndham's books. The Kraken wakes is another fantastic apocalyptic story which resonates today, he was an incredibly imaginative and creative writer.
Vintage Wyndham. Marvellous! Treasure indeed, so many thanks to you. Reminds me of when I was a youngster and devouring his books avidly at bedtime. The old fashioned setting of these radio plays add to their charm. Grand stuff! 📻🌱♥️
I heard this on the radio when I was 12. After the first episode, I couldn't wait until next week and prevailed upon my mother to buy me the paperback. The first science fiction novel I ever owned (but not the last).

Definitely needs to be decent movie made of this ❤❤
there's an 80s BBC version I think. it's not bad. Better than the 60s version.
This is the 1957 radio version. ✔️
pompous lead, switch off, too detached
