    Thanks for the great video, it made learning this topic a lot easier considering my university's math department either A) has professors that just toss the example up on the board without covering the basics to the concept of u-substitution and expect you to learn it by magic B) has professors that over complicate the topic to the point where it confuses the students and then they come here.

      You're welcome...I'm glad it helped make understanding easier for you!
      Sounds like the perfect time to like, sub and share your learning experience and this channel with ALL the professors at your school as an additional FREE "after school study reference" for ALL the REST of the students there...BAM!!! ...and think of all the students like you that you will be helping and helping us grow at the same time:)

    I'm sad that my journey with you Profrobbob will be coming to an end :( I am in Calculus 2 this semester and I see that's where you've stopped in your playlists. Thank you for all the educational help, it's really helped my grades

      True that I need to make more Calculus videos, but there are many more past this lesson here, ua-cam.com/play/PL67C119EDA6BDE946.html , and I have started a Calc 2 playlist here ua-cam.com/play/PLGbL7EvScmU6gCv6eKQdj45Sp_VdqhsUv.html

    Prof Tarrou, in the definition of this and the indefinite video why do you say range? I'm used to seeing domain and I understand how domain can be applied, but I'm not following you when you say range. Since x is the independent variable.

    • @profrobbob
      @profrobbob  8 років тому

      With the composition notation a domain value, say x, goes into function g, giving you the answer of g(x)... y... range value. That range value from function g then goes into function f as f's domain value. So f needs to be continuous on the range of g. This substitutes the "f is continuous on the closed interval [a,b] that you see in the conditions of the First Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.

      He lives!!!! Ty sir. Being sick for half of last semester and not wanting to pay/take the time to do Calc 1 again, your videos are a blessing! Plus you teach so well, sometimes I just skip class and say Professor Tarrou has my back. Plus he's better :)

      I don't always have time to answer math questions, so if I don't answer a question, don't give up, please find help from your friends or just keep watching and rewinding:)

    Hello sir can you please help me with this question(please take this question into consideration as i do not have any non virtual teacher to ask my doubts as I am learning these things on my own)
    Evaluate ∫x√(a^2 - x^2)dx the lower bound is 0 and the upper bound is "a".
    Please do help me. I will be grateful.
