    *NOTE* During the commentary on parabens, you'll notice a red screen with an !. This is an error in my editing software because my highlighting plugin failed. I didn't realize until someone pointed it out after the video went live. That was completely my fault. Usually I scrub through the video after it renders to make sure there are no errors and I just forgot to do that. Hey Jen, you might want to research formaldehyde a little more too. Formaldehyde is created by all living things, from bacteria to plants to animals and to humans. It is a NECESSARY part of cell metabolism and is vitally necessary in the formation of new DNA. But like all necessary things, too little.......or too much and you get birth defects, neurological disorders....cancer. As well as a whole host host of other issues that arise when our DNA is not perfectly formed. Like potassium: too little and you can't flex your muscles, and your heart is a muscle, so heart attack! It is called HYPOkalemia, it can also cause paralysis. Too much potassium and you get HYPERkalemia, which pretty much causes the same thing. But could you imagine what people would think of the clean beauty community if they started saying POTASSIUM was dangerous! LMAO! But it is. Just like formaldehyde. Too little and it cannot do its job of generating DNA properly and we get all kinds of fucked. Too much and the same thing happens. And what's really sad is that when you search formaldehyde you get results for "how dangerous it is" and you have to really dig and put in the right phrase to come up with the information that used to be front and center only a couple years ago. Not drinking enough water and you die by dehydration (think stuck in a desert kind of no drinking). but drink too much water over a short enough period of time and you "dry drown". Not even joking. Everything that is literally necessary for our survival is also lethal to us too. The important take away is balance. Everything is a delicate balance and clean beauty and their fear mongering is capitalizing on this delicate balance to put fear in our hearts where there should only be understanding and wisdom of these amazing processes.

      The Ulta in my town refused to put it up in the first place, and stuck the rest of their products in the 'corner of shame'. The store manager(not sure what they call that position) said that was her hill to !!! on, and while she worked there it wasn't going to be sold or noticed, job be {expletive}.

    I’ll be real honest, I don’t like Jake Paul. However, this body care line is so smart from a business perspective. Teenage boys haven’t had products directly marketed to them since the Axe days & this fills a HUGE gap in the market for men’s personal care.

      And they seem to be flooding it! I didn’t realize it was supposed to be out on the 12th but the closest Walmart to us has had a display out since the beginning of the month, which was smart marketing because his fight with Mike Tyson was also supposed to happen- burn anyways the display has almost sold out each time I look.

    • @cannibalisticrequiem
      @cannibalisticrequiem 3 місяці тому

      Axe was (and probably still is) used by teenage and pre-teen boys, but I definitely wouldn't say that it was marketed towards them. It was strictly marketed towards adult men, as the majority of Axe commercials back in the day were about men who used Axe Body Spray smelling so irresistible to women, that the women around them would be reduced to a feral state of lust and want to/try to fuck the guy wearing the Axe wherever they were, even out in public. Like just look up any of the old Axe Body Spray commercials from the early to mid 2000s, they were full of unsuspecting adult men trying Axe, and the woman/women around him immediately swarming him, groping him, looking at him seductively, licking their lips... and the implication was always that if you wore Axe Body Spray, any woman who smelled it would immediately be attracted to you and would want to fuck you on the spot.
      It was so obvious that Axe had a short-lived imitator on the market (I usually saw it sold at WalMart) called Bod Men's Body Spray, and their commercials were of conventionally attractive male models with chiseled bodies participating in sports (the one that stands out in my mind is them playing basketball) while a bunch of conventionally attractive thin female models watched lustfully, the commercial was shot in black and white to give a moody feel, and there would be a woman's voice overlaid in the commercial saying "Hot bod. Great bod. Sexy bod" while becoming more excited/turned on and the last spoken line, which I guess was the brand's slogan, was the woman saying "I WANT your bod!" and the knowing implication of the statement being that she was really talking about wanting the "bod"/y of the man wearing Bod Body Spray in that similar oversexed context of the Axe Body Spray commercials at the time.
      I'm sure there were some teenaged boys who watched those Axe commercials at the time, saw the droves of women getting turned on by the hapless guy who tried on the Axe Body Spray and likely thought, "Hey, if I wear Axe, then that'll happen to me!" often because our society has conditioned us into believing that kind of aggressive heterosexuality is normal and corporations discovered decades ago that sex sells, but Axe Body Spray was never marketed to teenage boys originally, their target audience was adult men.

    Lipstick Queen was founded by Poppy King. She recently re-restarted her own self-named lipstick brand based in Australia. For a short while, she had a warehouse in the US so I was able to order 3 of her new lipsticks. But now she’s shut down that warehouse; she posted a video on her Instagram about it, if you want details. Basically, she operates as a very small brand and had too much trouble and cost breaking back in the US market, especially since she doesn’t have celebrity or influencer support to drive marketing and compete with other brands here. (Personally I wish brands didn’t have to rely on online influencers for sales but whatever.) So now she’s just got her Australian warehouse which doesn’t ship to the US. That’s a bummer because I LOVED Lipstick Queen’s lipsticks and looked forward to Poppy’s return.

    Agreed, please be very careful with clean beauty products, particularly liquids. If you notice ANY change in odor, texture, or color, toss it out. It's not worth the potential infection. Parabens, BIT, MIT, and other biocides, fungicides and preservatives are absolutely required to maintain the market-accepted shelf life of products.
    We are even seeing these issues in other liquid products in other industries outside personal care. Regulatory agencies around the world are taking biocides, fungicides, and preservatives off the market and requiring reformulation and changes in shelf life. And sometimes, there is no preservative package that works and products have to be pulled off the market.

    An apology should address who was harmed. This one says nothing about who was harmed, why it was harmful, or anything about their actions. Taking shade 600 off the shelves was the literal least they could have done and it should have happened immediately.
    Youthforia continues to assert and prove that they do not know how to take accountability nor are they willing to actually call out their literal mistakes.

I'm a federal employee in one of the less hated agencies and we are feeling the budget cuts. It is likely to get worse if a certain someone wins in November who is on a mission to gut the federal government. Ngl I kinda see potential in this W line. He’s now a boxer of sort and has a lot of eyes on him in the sporting world. Having a body care line that emphasizes it’s effectiveness during high performance sports is a great move for him. Well a better one than this gambling side he’s pushing. Him labeling his „somewhat clean brand“ as a brand without „weird stuff“ is eye brow raising yes, but so are clean brands in general and it makes complete sense for his costumer base. I think you really can’t formulate these types of deodorants without aluminum, so I wouldn’t say it’s a pick and choose in that case. I lowkey find it genius. It’s a well thought out brand, with a reasonable price tag and easy accessibility to the point that people who haven’t heard of Jake can easily pick it up at Warmart. It would be in his best interested to not plaster his face everywhere on in-store advertisement. Speaking for my brother and my ex boyfriend now they don’t tend to look who’s behind brands and what value these brands hold. They pick something up that looks interesting to them and that’s it. The neon packing could achieve exactly that. I can see it work and for ones it makes sense with his personal brand. And to answer the question if he’s a celebrity, he a professional boxer now, so I think he might have surpassed the influencer label, since he reached normal mainstream media. The same way a Quinta or Emma has done. So yeah he a bottom D list celebrity I thought he should have been included on the list.

    Bring back Parabens. I had very annoying and painful dermatitis on my upper eyelid for months- went to the dermatologist, spent money on steroids and other ointments to try to address it. And finally after months for dealing with it I saw a video about Kosas products going bad and growing mold very quickly and so I did a sniff test on my Kosas tinted brow gel which I used daily just to realize it smelled rancid. As soon as I stopped using that product poof the dermatitis was gone. I’ve gotten rid of all Kosas products and no longer trust them therefore I will not be purchasing anything from them again. Where I have a big issue with clean beauty- is when it comes to certain things like “oh its a hormone disrupter” or “it can turn into formaldehyde or other formalins when its broken down in the body”: the amounts of those things in products (save for where they end up with high amounts and have to be pulled from shelves) its negligible. Unless you are eating your skin care hair care or makeup its gonna be negligible. And- if you are eating your products A that is concerning and B those “nasties” as clean beauty likes to call them- isnt gonna be what makes you sick 😅.
    This is a very abridged version of the way these compounds are considered safe for use is through testing that looks at: absorption rate (how much of these compounds actually get absorbed through the skin), mcg absorption over time, (how much actually would be absorbed into the body with prolonged use), quantity of the ingredient in products (these have to remain at density that would remain negligible even with prolonged use) etc. if they dont meet these criteria they wont be in products because it would be illegal. Like it is so much more involved with that but if you find these brands getting in trouble for having high amounts of things like formalins- their R&D teams screwed up big time.

    There are so many ELF skin care products on their website that they won’t ship to me here in Canada. I can’t get the serum, the glow screen. I was shocked and annoyed. But I guess it is not up to Canadian standards either the spf ? 🤷🏻‍♀️
