I have a vespera 1 and a vespera pro., here a few comments from me: 1) The price seem to fluctuate quite a bit, so you might get them cheaper in certain period, I got my pro for 2000 euros. 2) Vaonis never stops investing time in R&D. Since I got my vespera 1 they added the plan my night feature, then the mosaique feature, the multi night feature and recently the master dark calibration. This I find amazing, they just dont stop the research. Now this comes at a price which is one of the highest in the market. 3) My biggest issue is time, this solves that issue, no setup, no stacking, its great. As a summary I would say if you have the budget go for it, the 2 or the pro, if you have more time you can probably get much better results with a traditional rig. PS: Awesome video, you really nailed it.
My Dwarf 3 is much smarter. You can always save in raw formats. Also, I believe once the initial setup is done, you can connect to it over your regular wifi leaving you with internet access. 500 dollars versus 3,000, I'll keep my dwarf 3. I just received notice that it is finally being shipped to me.
Yes, the dwarf 3 has an sta mode to link your wifi to your home network and EQ mode, but...it's definitely not a quadruplet telescope and has a lower image scale 😉. Looks like I need to work on some comparison videos to make this clear 😉.
@AstroForumSpace there are a lot of comparison videos out there for the dwarf 3 but I haven't seen one comparing to this unit. That would be interesting.
Thank you for this informative review! Do you recommend the light pollution filter for Bortle 7 or more? A lot of Vaonis user seem to think it is not worth it and only buy the dual band filter... thanks!
For broadband objects like galaxies and globular cluster, the light pollution filter is the better choice as these objects emit light in all parts of the lightspectrum. For emission nebulae, the dualband is great.
Great video. The big bummer is that this app integrates tiffs including those with clouds, so individual images are better. Leveling is also vital with this scope if you don't want egg shaped stars. A lot of reviews seem to neglect this
Individual FITS files can be saved for all deep-sky objects, so you're not limited to the stacked TIFF file. If you prefer, you can download and stack the FITS files yourself, selecting only the highest-quality ones. Cheers!
Hi Wido. Nice review yours. Neverheless I just saw a guy in the Vespera Owners fb group who took a pic with the Pro with 20s exposure +26dB gain setup. But you tell that the 10s exposure time nor the gain can be twicked in the Vespera Pro. So, where is the trick 😁?
You can add manual targets with J2000 RA/Dec coordinates. In this manual settings you can also define the gain and exposure time for the target. The target stays saved in the device, so you can reuse it in different nights.
Great review! What's the best smart telescope today that can do landscape/mosaic out of the box. I'm not sure this one with the current firmware has the best value proposition. Are you expecting firnware updates?
Compared to the S50, it has a bigger battery, more memory, larger field of view, built in dew control, better planner and better build quality (internal gears are brass instead of plastic)
@@Lord_Whiteley for me battery isn't an issue as I have a power pack, nor is memory, it also has a built in dew heater and planner that both work great... Build quality for sure may be better as are the gears, but I can buy another and still have change left over to buy another 6 :) Clear skies
i am a huge fan of your review met. I went to amsterdam last year. But i didn't know your location, (either amsterdam or not). or i surely went to meet you personally. Next time i will surely meet u if i go there.
The DWARF II and III support EQ mode as optional feature. ZWO works on the same feature for the S50 and S30. Downside is that it is much more complex to set up. So it is not beginner friendly. Alt-AZ mounts are really simple compared to that. Except for the Vaonis devices that need to be leveled very precisely, the DWARF and Seestar telescopes do an horizon calibration that compensate for any leveling errors.
I don't understand why these smart telescope manufacturers don't give White light solar filter like badder along with theirs. The results with such a filter are amazing.
Hi Wido, nice review thanks! I'd be tempted to buy this for holidays when I head south in the summer and get a better angle on the galactic center. It looks like it would be good as cabin luggage. But I'm not ready to pay that price and accept significant limitations as well. So its a reluctant thumbs down from me just because I can't get raw fits images out of it.
Thanks! You can get individual fits images for all the dso's as well as a linear stacked tiff file. Solar System objects are saved as jpeg files. Cheers!
Overpriced for what it is. £369 Seestar S30, amazing pictures !! The VV Pro images are good but for that money you could build a better rig & go up many levels.

So expensive and the filter prices are obscene. Thank for reviewing 😊
Thank you for the review! I have Vespera II. I don’t see any difference in image quality between two, so I’m happy that I bought Vespera II, not PRO.
dont go for it. PRO is not worth it. I returned it.
i guess the main question is, does it perform 5-6 times better than the S50?
NOPE. 100% NOT

Update ! It will be here Monday!!!

Thank you for the quick answer. Maybe I should be more clear: in your opinion, does the LP filter make a considerable difference?

Heyy, can I have the seestar s50?? If you don't mind?

Ah, tx for the info. There seems to be an "expert mode". Never saw it when checking out the app. I'll look into it!
Sorry for the numb question but can you point to a whatever R.A./Dec coordinate or are you limited to the pre-loaded catalog ?
You can add manual targets with J2000 RA/Dec coordinates. In this manual settings you can also define the gain and exposure time for the target. The target stays saved in the device, so you can reuse it in different nights.
Would be interesting to compare it with Celestron Origin.

Here's my complete overview: astroforumspace.com/smart-telescopes-best-buy-guide/
Seems no better than my SeeStar S50, but nice review, thanks

Absolutely overpriced
So what would be the best price in you opinion, I got mine from a friend brand new for $1600
I like your reviews.

Next time!
Curious as to why these smart telescopes don't come on equatorial mounts.
i think they think that polar aligning a scope will spoil the sales pitch of totally robotic scope. They're right.

Interesting but seems to have some usability issues compared to say the S50, images do look good though, out of my price range at this point.
I don't understand why these smart telescope manufacturers don't give White light solar filter like badder along with theirs. The results with such a filter are amazing.
I don't understand the PRO designation, they seem a bit out of touch. Nice video, great explanations, thanks.
Nice one! And don't forget: take less time showering this year ;)
Tx, lol.

Dwarf 3 all the way , EQ mode 120 sec expos , £500 , awesome image quality
Certainly nice but far too expensive compared to the smaller Chinese alternatives.

I returned it in January. PRO version. takes too long to get images. mediocre images of Moon. Forget about any planet images.
