On this piece, would it be possible to slide the chart under the taped canvas and mark as much of the chart you wish (and can see well) on the canvas? I don’t know if that idea would work as well with a larger/more complicated chart. It would be crucial to make sure the top horizontal lines are accurate.
It would be a bit tricky as you would have to print the chart at the correct size to match the canvas. My guess is that at that size it would be difficult to see the pattern through the canvas as well. I would suggest printing it at the correct size, placing a piece of tracing paper on top, tracing the edges and elements of the design in a thin black marker, and using that underneath the canvas as a guide. It won't give you the exact placement of the intersections but it would be a nice guide and crutch as you chart!
