I had one of the greatest times of my life this past weekend. I haven’t talked to a single person that was upset we didn’t get it to the point of regretting going to the ride. I heard a lot of excitement to ride, and to hang out with fellow riders. I’m excited that we raised a ton of money, and I’m excited we get to do it again! Shout out to Paris Harley for doing a great job, too!

Well said John, looks like a good time. Every one dollar that goes to help a Vet is worth effort put forth! At 30K plus every rider should feel very proud of themselves. I could not make it because of work, but hopefully now I will get that chance next ride. I am proud of the community for showing up and helping Vets! God bless ya all!

Thanks so much for hosting this Adam. Like John said, haven't talked to a single person that's upset to the point that they wouldn't do it all over again. Talked to so many people that said that this weekend was the longest they've ever ridden (including myself). If anything i'm happy we didn't hit the record because we raised over $35k and get to do it all over again!

Adam brother THANK YOU. What you do for all veterans is amazing. My wife and I had a ball visiting the campground and getting to talk with you. This was a great weekend. The parade was amazing with all the locals cheering us on. I looked over at my wife in the sidecar and haven't seen her enjoying herself that much for a long time. for that I thank you again. We didn't set the record but gave the combat vets a ton of money which simply rocks. Let us know the new date I'm in. Rubber side down and let the miles roll on.

Adam, you have done so much in this short time, buying the campground, construction, fundraiser, an whoops fixing the H-D. Now, take a breath, get your body right. And if I'm still breathing next timing, you'll have one more Vet in your parade!!! As for H-D, their excuse was something in Corporation policy for independents. Rode to sturgis solo because I made a friend at your pre sturgis party. Adam, you did a wonderful job of getting a great number of riders together to try and bring it home! You have what it takes to see this through to a successful completion. One bit of advice, PLEASE schedule it a year in advance so many more riders can plan this in their schedules. For me, I have to schedule my days off in December for the following year. I would definitely be there and have a few more Harley riders go with me. Looking forward to the next attempt, Do NOT give up-as you say!

Was a great time, K-River campground, Paris HD, Paris Tx, all treated us well. The weather will probably never b perfect, people wouldn’t have stuck around or come with a thunder/rainstorm as long as they did in heat! Some people will never follow instructions either. People handled everything in the best matter they could with the amt. if volunteers/workers they had! It was a amazing experience and so want to b part of it all again! We came from Northeast Nebraska, and will b sure to make it again!

Tough to get a group perceived as rule breakers to actually follow them. But seriously; glad to see the fantastic fundraising effort for CVMA. My folks were there in the effort & stayed at K River. Two things I would leave is that you might want to try this run around Columbus Day. According to a few folks who have broken the Cannonball record from NY->LA that's typically the time with the least amount of traffic on the roads every year. Also, to absolutely slam dunk your next effort I think you may need a bigger venue. South Florida (Miami/Ft. Lauderdale) has the infrastructure (roads, hotels, campgrounds, casinos), a multitude of HD Dealerships, and a ton of Harley riders. There is an Annual Toys in the Sun Run done every December where there's at least 10,000+ bikes that participate every year. Sure not all are Harleys but I'm sure you can get 3-5,000 HOGs committed. Maybe take an online survey?
In either case, Great job to Adam, Ashley, Paris H-D and Choctaw Casino for putting on what appears to be a outstanding event; I'm sure most of us have no clue on what it takes to put an event on such as this. Hopefully will be able to participate in the next one!

Hey Adam, Just my 2 cents worth. Bad timing.
    1. Not enough lead time to allow folks to plan ahead, vacation time/ride time. (We plan our long rides a year ahead)
    2. The "Bring it Home" / The attempt to break the Guinness World Record HD parade, was virtually back to back to the events in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Labor Day weekend for HD's 115th Anniversary.
    3. Corporate HD was wrapped up / immersed in, …………...the events in Milwaukee...………..planning for the parade of 6,500 Harleys from around the world.
(They also have admitted to being blind to opportunities to entice new customers, and deaf to pleasing their present Harley owners. They have work to do to keep HD afloat!)
4.Mother Nature, had other ideas / heat-humidity-Hurricane Florence.
Congratulations for the money raised for Combat Vets!

#bringithome awesome charity event that shows one the true elements of bike culture and that is lending a hand, giving and great fellowship. Keep it going maybe next time start pushing early like six months out when dealing with so many bikes to register might help. Compared to other events where you show up donate and ride explain in detail what's involved like motorcycle endorsement and VIN numbers I'm sure that slowed the process some. but like you said each experience in life is part of the journey. Great job to support CMVA records come and go but the help you give has lifetime effects. Good job always love your honesty .

Adam I think you were dead on with your thoughts about corporate Harley-Davidson dropping the ball on this. They should have promoted it. Got the word out. Help organize and sponsor this record attempt all if nothing more for the name “Harley-Davidson “. I feel the company is turning away for the owers and concentrating too much on bringing new riders into the family instead of supporting the family that has supported the company and made it into what it is today. We weren't upset. I got to meet John Maxwell on Friday night and shook Adam's hand on Saturday night at the casino. We thought it would be cool to help break a world record on our 25th, but it's good we raised the money for the vets. That's what it was really about to us. We rode in many states we never been in (Missouri, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma). Ozarks are great. We even did the Pig Trail on way down. Great trip.

Great effort in this attempt to break the record and bring it home to America!! Glad you are looking to do this again, and I couldn't agree more with you that Corporate Harley needs to get involved and not let down the Harley owners and culture.

Adam, Paris Harley, and Choctaw Casinos, all I can say is WOW, WOW, and WOW!!! I had an outstanding time, at a terrific event, for a wonderful cause. Co-workers planning to come with me had to unexpectedly work. I hate doing things alone, but rode from Fort Worth, anyway. Felt like I knew and had been friends with everyone for ages. A memory for life!

It was a great attempt Adam, stand proud as an American. I wasn’t there because I’m a Yamaha guy. It’s too bad that corporate Harley wouldn’t get involved but it shows where their heads are, they don’t care about their riders, they care about reaching a new segment of people, people that really don’t care about Harley...or bikes in general for that matter.

Had a blast was great meeting you. My 2 cents for next time. As nice as you are and it may be hard to say it dont say "All bikes welcome " say it's a Harley Davidson event only.... that would keep out the Hondas and Indians with side cars, lol. Also if they had us stay on the loop road and not bottlenecked in the school yard bikes would have done better in the heat. All in all was a great weekend and real happy to get those combat vets some well deserved help. Thanks Adam will be there next time. (Wasn't saying that Saturday but changed my mind on the beautiful ride back) let's do it again.

Adam I was on the bike that was 1821 you took video of getting my sticker on my headlight. I have a few suggestions to help with the over heating of the bikes. One was made using transponders to count the bikes as they past the check points. Not sure what they would cost. I did a mud run and they used the transponders to track runners as they pasted check points. My other suggestion would be a tool that The Department of Transportation uses to count vehicle traffic on highways (the box and black tube that runs across the highway). Maybe with either one of those along with video at the check points and the registration y’all could keep the bikes rolling at a speed that keeps them cool. Like I said just a suggestion. Live and learn. All I know is my bike was cooking hot but I finished along with all that came with me..good luck next time...

A hose type counter would count all cars and all non Harleys .. that won't work .. Most bikes have eclectic start shut them off when not moving …
Overheated Harleys is why they made lane splitting Legal in CA

    • @HDRomine
      @HDRomine 6 років тому +2

Mike Skidmore the parade was a controlled route with only participating motorcycles. Having the mixed brands was very nice to include everyone but was a stumbling block for the record attempt. The brands got mixed towards the end of the parade due to the over heated Harley’s having to pull to the side of the road. The over heating was uncontrollable. I cut my bike off every chance I got and had it in the mode where it only runs the front cylinder at idle when I had to leave it running. I guess you just had to be there to see the conditions and details on this situation.

Adam, my wife and I were numbers 52 and 53. We had a great time and I had the great honor to shake your hand. I agree with your last complaint. Corporate Harley could have done a LOT more. Prior to the event I visited four local dealerships. Of the many associates there only about half knew your name. Fewer knew of the charity, still fewer of the event and none were certain to go. Okay, that's cool, but what that tells me is that the company could have at least sent a heads-up to the dealerships. In all the stores I saw no fliers or even a single tiny clipping of the event pinned to the notice board. Harley, for whatever reason, really dropped the ball right there.
PS: We'll be there for you next time man. Hey Scooter!

Adam, like you stated, we all have something to learn from this last attempt. A few of my thoughts:
    1. Pick a much cooler month
    2. Find a big open stretch of road far away from large population areas, such as Montana, New Mexico or Laughlin to Vegas which is a 90 mile stretch I think... nothing but desert road and open space and not much in between...again attempt this on the cooler months!
    3. Strategy and advice from my wife lol...get down to business first and do all the partying last!
    4. Let’s do this exclusively for the vets and not corporate Harley-Davidson. Make and sell some magnetic blackout logos for our fuel tanks to cover the Harley-Davidson logos. Something that honors our military and your personal logo as well, maybe a combo of both. We don’t need those pencil necks and bean counters! Screw them period!
    5. Let’s all get better organized in marketing this and much better organized on the ground in terms of strategy and very strict riding formations to be followed, and of course police security escorts.
    6. Anyone breaking down or has health issues must quickly leave formation and the following bike quickly moves up to fill the formation. Have recovery trailers at the ready to pick up any break downs and riders and a few paramedics to aid in emergencies if needed.
    7. Again pick a open expanse of road far less traveled by cars and trucks so all the bikes can maintain a good steady safe speed between 60 to 70 mph for a good long stretch like a big long fright train! In cool weather this time! AND START THE RUN EARLY IN THE MORNING ABOUT 6:00 AM !
    8. Maybe we can get a military reserve helicopter flying above the bike formation to property film and document this event! Now that would be something to see!

It's sad the MoCo didn't make any effort to spread the word on this. I think it reflects on them a bigger picture they've been painting of themselves for many years now.
Secondly, i hope you plan the next attempt soon so I can make plans to attend. A good year's advance notice goes a long way in vacation planning and saving.
Dream the dream, Adam, until it's a reality.

You are 100% correct with showing the younger gen what the Harley culture is...BUT...if the sales of these new "less Harley" models like the Street or PanAmerica keep the company going so they can keep making the classics...I can't complain there. They did miss a great chance with this event and I can't help but think that had they stepped up the added advertising they could have brought to the table may have made a difference. Give us a date for the next one and lets see if I can get my old 92 FLH Kyra from NC to TX and help make it happen.
