Part 1: • Michael Jai White on A...
--------
In this clip, Michael Jai White continued to debate Vlad about how he doesn't think Oscars help propel the careers of Black actors, unlike white actors, who seem to get a boost whether they're nominated or they win. After stating that he doesn't value the Oscars like a lot of people, Michael debated Vlad if Samuel L. Jackson's Oscar nomination for "Pulp Fiction" helped his career, which you can hear in full above.
MJW is enjoying proving Vlad wrong & it’s so priceless & satisfying!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"whateeverrr... whateverrrr" -Vlad.... he made vlad turn into a school girl.
Yea very much satisfying pause
Extremely satisfying 😌
I kinda feel like even Vlad himself was enjoying it on like some weird masochistic level
Lol, you think Vlad didn't???
Jai is right. Samuel has been one of the highest paid actors for YEARS because he's not too proud to take low budget films if he likes the role. That's well known
He’ll do the popcorn films.
All actors do that. But Jackson is about his money. He tax big studios because he know they got the money
He actually takes alot of big budget roles. The difference here is he can afford to do it because his career is at a height and level.
He's like Michael Caine described himself: "a WORKING actor." And like Caine said about Blame It On Rio: "Hate the film, LOVE the house."
Vlad telling another black man how “black people” are treated n affected is hilarious!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Love MJW's calm demeanor while Vlad literally makes MJW's points for him. Sam never won an Oscar smfh but his work ethic is damn near unmatched in Hollywood. Vlad just isn't a good interviewer unless he's interrogating a mf about a crime 😭
He doesnt do even the basics of research.
Samuel Jackson was steadily working way before Pulp Fiction. He was always on a steady incline.
The vast majority of success doesn't come from one role or even two.
Honestly he was working but pulp fiction made him, the biggest thing he did before that was coming to America. Jungle fever was probably second. He popped up in juice and do the right thing but before that he said he was a full blown crackhead. He's a great actor but Pulp Fiction made him a household name.
Dude was homeless when he started even while in hollywood. He worked his way up.
@@divineintervention212 don't forget Samuel L. Jackson iconic role was also Shaft.
@@divineintervention212 One movie doesn't make anyone. If a guy is steadily getting roles and putting away cash and keeps going...he's a successful actor. There's so many actors that are considered D or C level actors that make BANK.
Best example is Dean Cain (he played Superman in the Louis and Clark show). He's been doing 5 movies (most are low budget) every single year for 20 years PLUS roles for TV and commercials. Acting is just another job. It's all about how you work and stack cash.
For those who want to know the answer is "No", Samuel Jackson has never won as Oscar.
Not only were you wrong Vladimir,
Samuel Jackson wasn't even
nominated for Lead Actor;
John Travolta was.
Even though his character
died, they still painted John
as the lead over Samuel.
You really said Vlads whole first name lol
Hahaha had me dying
Because Travolta was the lead ,This is the samething with Tom Hank's and Denzel Washington in the Philadelphia movie that came out a year before Pulp Fiction movie did
@@rondoughhowell6442
It literally came down to the wire;
for everybody involved in the decision
making for 'Pulp Fiction' .
They ultimately decided which actor's name they would submit for
Academy Award consideration for
Lead Actor in a Motion Picture
by counting each actor's lines in the script....
So it wasn't as 'Cut and Dry'
as you would like to presume.
@@kendricjonrs8581 well Sam stole the show but Travolta was the show because of what he did in the past
Vlad just can't be wrong. Samuel Jackson been the man regardless
Vlad is just arguing for the sake of arguing. It has ALWAYS been widely known that the carreers of the MAJORITY of black actors who have won the Oscar declined drastically after they won the award, while the carreers of the MAJORITY of WHITE actors who won the award flourished. The numbers don't lie. The percentages don't lie. Vlad just doesn't want to admit he's wrong. But the numbers can't be disputed.
Sorry VLAD, you can’t win this argument…you really did validate Michael’s point…maybe 2 of the have have successful careers. But none is them got Meryl Streep, Mat Damon, Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, Emma Thompson, Anthony Hopkins, dinero, Ben Kingsley, Daniel day Lewis, Tom Hanks, Jeff Bridges…. Type of stardom & Recognition & Movie roles after winning their Award. And some of the roles that the black actors won for wasn’t really their best work. …We we’re robbers for many years and some of them was “we ain’t racist” awards.
Marshaler Ali, Viola Davis, Olivia Spencer, Lupita and Whoopi would have had opportunity. Although Whoopi would have still made it without it. The other people careers have laid stagnant. And yes, Sam Jackson still would be where is is w/o and Oscar as well. Cause people like Him and Whoopi have Charisma, uniqueness, Nerve and talent.
Sam didn't even win an Oscar, so he literally is where he's at without an Oscar lol
Nicolas cage won the oscar and had shitty career
It was good fellas
Samuel Jackson didn't when a oscar
For pulp fiction
Sam Jackson broke a record in 54 movies from 1990 to 1999 more than ANY other actor.
He wasn't the leading role in most his movie.
@@vaughnreedjr6592 your point ?
@@MarvelousJP His point is that Samuel L. Jackson is a loser who doesn't have the energy to play the lead in 54 movies during a 9 year period.
@@TonyVega123 the irony here’s. Somehow he’s the loser but if you two were in a room together you’d know who he is but he wouldn’t know who you are
@@MarvelousJP Oh he'd know me. I'm a much bigger star than him. He'd bow down to me. I've represented some of the biggest stars in the world, including MC Shan. Thats right I'm an attorney
This might be the last time we see MJW. Vlad don’t like when you go against what he says
Vlad is extra annoying in this interview.
@@dcisajoke for sure. It sounds like he’s getting way too big headed
No what about lord Jamar
Samuel L Jackson has been in more movies than any actor or actress ever…..LEGEND
Eric Roberts has been in 401 movies.,more than any other actor ever...Samuel Jackson is not even in the Top 10
@@jessallen7756 sam been in bigger movies then Robert tho. Played bigger and better roles. He's literally an b if not a actor. I dont hear or see nobody mentioning eric robert like they do sam or denzel so stop.
@@brazyfilmo3121 I don't think that's the guy's point. I think the point is ur fact was incorrect. Yes, Sam is a better overall actor than Eric, but I was born in 84... Eric's name is forever good in our books. Didn't even associate him with Julia Roberts, and that's his sister
@@jessallen7756 But they are extremely trash movies. Samuel been in highly regarded roles and HUGE FRANCHISES. That goes without saying.
@@tellmesomething2412 that’s not the point at all
Samuel L. Jackson was in Star Wars! What is Vlad saying? His career went up after Pulp Fiction? Does he know how many films he was in?
Not only that but he is Shaft, Nick Fury, Mr. Glass, and Scarface XXX just to name even SOME of what Sam has been in 😎
Star was after pulp fiction
Vlad is a certified culture vulture that doesn't do research.
After DIE HARD 3
Y'all slow af.. Vlad is the one who agrees that they go up after am Oscar nod.. Michael disagreed.. so if that were true Vlad is right
Vlad refuses to be wrong lol
Vlad never does his research, Samuel L. Jackson didn't win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Pulp Fiction. The late Martin Landau won the Best Supporting Actor in Ed Wood that year.
Vlad...allow Jai talk puullleeeeaaassseeee
Sam Jackson became a household name after pulp fiction but he busted his behind after that taking any role he could in decent movies and knocking his roles out the park. He didn't sit idle waiting for the next best role. Also his parts are usually big but most times he's not the star of the movie he's in. Usually a co starring role or an ensemble cast.
He did tons of indie art house movies to display his acting. He's one of the few actors who is an artist. Most actors of his caliber are doing theater. I know he does as well but that's where you really see who can act.
Sam didn’t win (he should have) and his real breakout role was Jungle Fever. The performance was so acclaimed that the jury of 1991 Cannes Film Festival added a special "Supporting Actor" award just for him. Pulp Fiction obviously helped but it wasn’t the Oscar NOMINATION that did it to Michael’s point.
Samuel l jackson is 1 of the greatest black actors out there alongside denzel and morgan freeman
Samuel Jackson made the most money in history movie wise so I'll say he's the greatest
I wouldn't say best black actor, simply one of the best actors ever.
Damn would be nice is Denzel & Samuel team up
@@CodeWhispererX men that would be 1 of the best black movie of all time it would amazing
Don’t forgot Jamie foxx
You’re wrong about Samuel L Jackson Vlad ‼️💯😂😂😂🥇
Samuel L. Jackson did NOT win an Oscar for Pulp Fiction. Come on Vlad....
Martin Landau and look where his career went.
vlad hates 2 admit when he is wrong : a true narcissist...
He does this to purposely trigger y’all and it works every single time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@tilabryant5591 yes, but it is messing up his platform. Why would a celebrity wants to be interview by a guy who doesn't do his research, constantly interrupting and egotistical person?
@@pauldavis1963 I be wondering that but they steady do. Ppl will always seek vlad out no matter what he does
@@tilabryant5591 🙄
@@pauldavis1963 how’s it messing up his platform? Wtf are you talking bout? Vlad been on UA-cam successfully for over a decade
Samuel l Jackson still is one of the best actors who can play any role he still get work at 73 years old while ppl my age 23 is still waiting to get on the screen while people that are younger who isn’t getting any work he make acting look like a sport like Tom Brady still playing football he do deserve more than one Oscar nominations but still kicks ass he deserves an Oscar fuck a nomination he deserve more accolades
Still hard to believe he's in his 70's. SLJ's back story is also fascinating and should inspire anyone who feels like giving up because they feel it's too late to peruse something.
@@helicoptersrkool I’m 23 years old and I wanna be an actor I never took theater in high school I never been an extra I had three auditions on zoom two of em was a scam and one of em I didn’t get the part I got a UA-cam channel as a platform to build my credibility up
He can still sell seats and he's still great with the roles he select. He was absolutely brilliant in The Banker at 70 years old.
He the sam character in every movie he saturated the market with himself … he so good he can do any roll and make it look easy .. I can’t imagine Hollywood without him
Facts
Denzel is too they basically play themselves in every movie
I liked him growing up but I can’t stand them now because he’s in everything I won’t watch a movie that he’s done
Samuel L. Jackson played the same character after his role in Snakes on a Plane cos before he had very different roles!!!!
@@raymondreddington3572 agree
Sam got Marvel, because the comic artist drew Sam as that character in the comics. Readers loved it, so Marvel kept it for the movies.
Adrien Brody won an Oscar and his career really didn't get further than that honestly. He's a great actor.
You can add Cuba Gooding Jr also who didn't " blow" up after getting an Oscar.
@@trey8536 And for a time Halle Berry when she won for Best Actress for _Monster's Ball_ the only thing that kept her afloat was the _X-Men_ franchise and _Catwoman_ (a cult classic) gave Halle her biggest payday as an actress. Just recently she's having a resurgence since her movie (which I have yet to see) _Bruised_ dropped on Netflix. Louis Gossett Jr. would be another one whose career somewhat dwindled after he won for _An Officer and a Gentleman_ and he's been working since he co-starred with Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee in the original stage production of _A Raisin in the Sun_ all those years ago. Hell, Gabby Sidibe (who was nominated for _Precious_ for Best Actress) only got scarce roles until Lee Daniels booked her for _Empire_ a few years later.

Harrison Ford has never won an Oscar...and he starred in two of the biggest movie franchises ever, Star Wars, Indiana Jones
@@DavidRichardson95 She also was in James Bond movie with a lead role but she starred in a lot of Box office bombs like " Cat Woman"!
Samuel L. Jackson, unfortunetly has never won an Oscar. Hopefully he'll get one before he dies, and not one of those " Sorry we overlooked you!" honorary awards.
As an actor myself (not a working actor like Samuel yet) I’m agreeing with MJW fuck a Oscar. The moment you get paid a couple of million or get a first dollar gross deal from what you love to do is the real award.
@@morse2x TRUE THAT
Well Tom Cruise has never won a Oscar but it is what it is
Harrison Ford has never won an Oscar
He was actually on Fallon last night and he said he got one. That’s exactly what he got! An honorary one, not for any particular role. But I agree with you.
Vlad is no longer interviewing people anymore. He giving his opinion on the topics now. So it's more of a conversation than a interview now. Nobody should care about how u feel about a question u asked your guest.
Excellent POINT. That’s exactly what it is
0:08 MJW smile like "this dude think he got me?"
Samuel Jackson should've won an Oscar for his role in Jungle Fever! Dude reminded me of my uncle.
Wrong. Sam Jackson went on to gross over $20 billion after his Oscar nomination. Sam is a GOAT with or without the gold.
lol and take out star wars and Marvel films and how much he make. need some context
@@RL-ww5ev Nah I'm not subtracting nothing. He earned those roles after his nomination and it contributes to his entire filmography.

Samuel L Jackson was the man in Juice with Tupac... Q - you knew me since I was a kid.. Samuel L Jackson- I knew a lot of killers since they was kid... Legendary line
Thank you bra! Juice is my favorite movie! “The snappy nappy dugout”
Samuel L Jackson didn’t win tho… he’s one of those actors who it feels like won at least one but hasn’t.
Harrison Ford has never won an Oscar

Can you do another Blood and Bone. That character makes an awesome hero
Samuel L. Jackson is one of the best actors ever. I enjoy every Movie with him. And the cool thing is he is in almost every Tarantino movie.
I know one thing....Leo DiCaprio was WAYYYYY more lit before he got an Oscar for Revenant....in my eyes, he should've got one for DJango. And on the topic of Samuel L Jackson, Samuel L Jackson was the best part in Jungle Fever so Vlad....nah...I get what you tryna say, but nah
Leo should have got one for The Departed
Harrison Ford has never won an Oscar......Black or White, there are great actors that foe some reason get snubbed by the Oscars
@@jessallen7756 Most of those Academy snobs did not like George Lucas and the Star Wars franchise ...Ford also starred in Blade Runner and the Indiana Jones franchise...especially during the 80's and 90's...science fiction and action/ adventure movies got overlooked especially sequels!
Nah..The Wolf Of Wall Street was a better performance
@@BigDapPacino ....I know empire was directed by Lucas' former film professor who wasn't a film union member....I heard the reason they had a problem with Lucas was because how the Star wars movies start.....with the logo and then the scrolling text...I guess it is union rules that actors names have to appear at the beginning of movies....That is BS, when you are trying to make your movie have a certain feel
Sam L was in Jurassic Park which was one of the highest grossing films ever for like 20 years which was before pulp fiction. Then he co-led the die hard sequel along with pulp fiction. Two of the biggest films of 95. Tf is dude talking about lol
Vlod doesn't do research he just talks sh*t like his opinion is the only one that natters
The way Mike smiled at Vlad when he mentioned Jennifer Hudson , I never seen this side of Mike , I can tell him Vlad are genuine friends
Vlad must got some ties to the Oscars or he really wants one. How is a white journalist gonna tell a black actor/martial artist that the Oscars should mean something to him? I'm sure this is just Vlad getting content because they are actual friends in real life.. but still lol.
Damn Vlad let Him talk, you keep cuttin’ him off lol
Samuel L Jackson never won an Oscar
Samuel L Jackson is the number one money grossing actor of all time for total movies featured in with overall gross income, this is 100% fact, I’d take that before any damn Oscar
So Samuel going from being an addict to the Movie “Jungle Fever” by Spike Lee as the character GATOR! doesn’t count as his career taking off?
DOPE SHIRT
Their back and forth is pretty entertaining tho
MJW is 💯% correct... its been a thing for years!
VLAD is that "let's look it up" guy. These are the type of people who are often clueless about shit, love to argue, look the shit up after the fact, and realize they were wrong.
samuel l jackson has never won an oscar, vlad tripping just to win an argument
VLAD: Samuel L Jackson was in Jurassic Park (1993) before he was in Pulp Fiction (1994). Come on bro Sam was doing work before the Pulp Fiction joint. True Romance, Menace II Society just to know some others.
Samuel l Jackson has been in alot of classic movies.
I was with Jai White about Sam Jackson then Vlad talkin about ""Before Pulp Fiction he was in FRESH" lol. Classic movie but I see his point
The crazy thing is I was just binge watchin Samuel Jackson movies, fortunately most of them was on either of my streaming services. It was so many I haven't seen. I still haven’t had time to watch all I seen on his list, but I'll probably get to most of em sooner or later. Morgan freeman too, they both was actually in the last one I had time to see but I forgot the name of it, it had Selma Hayek in it. Their acting presence alone is big, and then they get in there and embody the role.
Me over here still patiently waiting for
Black Dynamite 2
Vlad, stop challenging everything your guests say. Simmer down a little. And let your guests talk. This narcissistic, the interview is about me, style has gotten waaay old now. I've watched less and less because of this.
Facts
I think it’s safe to say Jennifer Hudson’s singing career took off due to her oscar win. If she does not get dreamgirls then you don’t hear her music on the radio in the mid to late 2000s on constant rotation.
I agree. She would've been the next Fantasia. Nobody plays their music.
Too me Samuel L Jackson is the greatest black actor. That’s just me!!!
Sam Jackson is my SECOND favorite actor and NO VLAD he has NEVER won an Oscar!
Vlad loves speaking on black peoples perspective
I completely disagree after the Oscar nomination he went onto star in more successful Tarantino films, The Boondocks, Star Wars franchise & also became one of the biggest stars in the MCU!!!!
P.S. But MJW has a right to his opinion just like anybody else!!!!
I do not think we can classify Samuel Jackson as a big star in the MCU. he's a side character
@@RL-ww5ev he’s about to have his own MCU tv show called Secret Invasion & he played a huge part in the Captain America 2, Captain Marvel, the Avengers films, Spider-Man Far From Home & etc…
the argument was that sam didnt get better, he was already on track to be great so. listen to the movies before the nomination again and you’ll understand
MJW is right in all points! Jennifer Hudson would have been chosen if she came off the street. Samuel Jackson’s career was not changed by the Oscar’s
Sam’s character on pulp fiction was way better than John Travolta’s. Yet we saw how that worked out.
I watched some video on UA-cam with the script playing underneath a scene in Pulp Fiction and when I tell you Sam Jackson was speaking word for word the script. The other actor read his script but he added and took out words....but Sam Jackson was word for word and delivering... just sharing
Bring some on your platform to talk about the stock market
here's the difference between Michael J. and Samuel L. Samuel's movies 90% of the time go to theaters. Michael J's go straight to Walmart for $6/$7 or straight to Pulto for a month for free.
Well Micheal J is the modern day Carl Weathers a black action hero that's still trying to climb over the big hump
Samuel Jackson got the marvel films because years earlier when the character Nick Fury was reworked, the artist Drew him in Jackson's likeness.
The role that Samuel L. Jackson on the map was when he played Gator in "Jungle Fever".. He was the best part of that movie. It wasn't "Pulp Fiction" though was great in that as well..
Sam Jackson is the definition of modern legend.
Samuel L Jackson is a hell of an actor 🐐
MJW is silent and thinking, "I let people talk, to find out how full of shit they are." Jackie Chan said to Chris Tucker (Rush Hour)
I wish that I could meet Michael Jai White and have an intelligent conversation with him. I bet I could learn a lot from listening to his knowledge and wisdom.👍👍👍
Lou Gossett, Cuba Gooding Jr ., didn't work after Oscars. So I'm with Mike on this.
Cuba Gooding Jr got roles in some big Hollywood movies like " Men of Honor"...but he starred in bombs like " Boat Trip" and " Snow Dogs"...his career choices were very bad!
@@BigDapPacino I definitely agree when it come to the Oscars. I believe getting nominated and or winning definitely brings more attention to you and your work. However if you just do nothing but make shit don't expect your career to flourish. That's why actors have to be very careful on what films they star in
@@BigDapPacino Men of Honor and those movies you mentioned, don't count. Those deals were done before he won the Oscar. In those days, they would be booked sometimes up to 5 years. So, AGAIN, he didn't work on the LEADING MAN level after the Oscar. Boyz in the Hood was really why Cuba kept working. He could have been Mark Walhberg level I feel, had he NOT won the Oscar.
Sammy is one of the highest paid black actors who never won an oscar. He won the black oscars and popular vote for the best actor and thats all that matters.
I'm sure Sam doesn't care lol to be honest he wouldn't sacrifice his paycheck just to be an Oscar winner
I recently saw an interview with Samuel Jackson...And he does care...He feels that he shouldve won for Pulp Fiction....Very few actors ever come outband say they should've won, after the fact
Sam Jackson was in Pulp FIction in 1994. His first Marvel Movie was Iron Man in 2008.......14 years Vlad. Stop saying it like he went from Pulp Fiction to Marvel. Sam Has been a consistently dope actor.
Sam Jackson definitely didn’t win a Oscar for pulp fiction. Or any other movie
Exactly Vlad couldn't take 5 minutes out of his day to research that
Jennifer Hudson was set to have a long lasting acting career, but after the Oscar win she wanted to be very picky on which roles she would take and what she would never do. As a result, she barely got any work over the past 12 years and her being casted in the Aretha Franklin movie was mostly due to Aretha picking her to play the role.
I agree with Mr. White.
Louis Gossett said the Oscar hurt his career. He was outpriced for the roles he had been getting and still didn't get the opportunity for lead roles
I think MJW just might have made a very underrated point in this interview. IDGAF about Vlad not being able to prove his point (that was just funny) (and btw, def NOT a Glad hater here), I think their is SE true possibly to what he said. I wish we could expand on this more and flesh it out. A worth will topic to look into, for sure.
Good counter argument is Leonardo DiCaprio.
But also Eddie Murphy in Dreamgirls is great proof for him
Samuel Jackson
Densel Washington
Morgan Freeman
All great black American actors.
This has probably been answered but would someone please repeat the explanation for the Vlad paradox? At once incessant and yet seems to still attract interviewees we want to listen to. Thanks in advance.
We need our own award shows for all of entertainment and beyond. And no BET isn’t ours.
It’s 1). Wesley 2). Sam 3). Denzel.
1:41 MJW had to tell Vlad to stop. The guest telling the host to stop talking. Lol. Priceless. Every time I watch a Vlad video I think the same thing lol.
Not really liking Vlad as much without Lord Jamar coming on. I really came to listen to him
This is a hilarious interview 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Samuel L is 🔥. He doesn't gaf about that!!
mike is right ! winning an oscar doesn't do shit for black actors.
Jennifer Hudsons voice gave her the part of Aretha
The movie 'Pulp Fiction' revitalized the careers of both Samuel Jackson and especially John Travolta who's career had somewhat stalled prior to that movie.
Black folks don't care about Oscars, we just want the money and quality.
Sam didn't even win the oscar for Pulp Fiction. Wtf are u talking bout Vlad smh
It DEF Helped Lupita's career as well as Mahershala Ali and Jamie Foxx...
No it just put them on notice it just gave them more opportunities in Hollywood if you really ask a lot of these actors and actresses within Hollywood a lot of them will tell you that the Oscars really don't mean all that much it's just a validation it's one of those things where it can help you call your shots in Hollywood.
I totally agree!
Only 19 black actors and actresses combined have ever won an Oscar since 1929. Winning an Oscar does not make or break them.
My Values is different too. My Outlooks most def.
What really put Samuel L. Jackson on the map was his role in Jungle Fever. Because he was the radio 📻 disc jockey in Do The Right Thing and was in Mo Better Blues. But Jungle Fever changed his career because right after that was Die Hard 3
