I still enjoy driving my trucks with a servo on axle but I've yet to notice any downside to the chassis mounted servo setups I have either. The link geometry is easier to dial in on axle though where as the scale appearance when chassis mounted is what I see as the biggest benefit

Agreed. I like the servo on axle because the linkage moves with the axle. It's smooth and doesn't bind at all.
