To those questioning what he said: Don't forget. This is a heavy metal biker band, at a heavy metal concert, with heavy metal bands. They may say things a little more vulgar, that's because of the setting. If he wants to talk about Iraq and how much he hates them, let him. It's the atmosphere. He's obviously upset about what happened, as he has a right to. He's always been known to be patriotic. So let him. You don't need to critizise him as a person just because of what he said. Also, I think it's important to note that this concert took place two days after President Bush's speech to the U.N. regarding Iraq.
The problem is that Iraq had nothing, and I say, absolutely nothing to do with 9/11. The biggest hypocrisy lays within the fact that Washington was a close ally and supporter of Iraq against Iran. Washington provided Iraq with all it's gears of war, Washington knew that no WMDs were to be found within Iraq, Remember Powel's scandal of the vial he was holding within the security council. From a point of view of idiology Ben Laden and Saddam Hussein were at opposite extremes. Another manifestation of this hypocrisy is the fact that Washington supported and hailed Ben Laden as an ally and friend, they knew he had no ties with Iraq and they knew Iraq had no ties with 9/11. So, as much as I love metal and BLS, Zakk was spouting drivel while being driven by ignorance and emotions. The human cost of the US invasion is about 400,000 deaths, most of them Iraqi civilians. Those Iraqis who died were not numbers and files, they were people like you and me, they had families, a life to live and a story to tell. Now they are all gone for nothing.

U.S supported Saddam Hussein at the height of his atrocities , he was given arms which used to kill Persians and Kurds. To the people calling his short speech ignorant, let me lay out some details for ya. Al-Qaeda and Taliban operatives had been living unimpeded in Iraq and Afghanistan for a very long time. The reason Zakk said “fuck Iraq” is because the threat of extremism could have been stopped a LONG time ago if the peoples and governments of the Middle East had actively pursued Wahhabist extremist factions and treated them as a threat to their national security. The Taliban gained control over Afghanistan LONG before 2001, and not a single country in the Middle East tried to do anything about making sure they didn’t meet the same fate as Afghanistan (being subject to civil upheaval and coup by an extremist faction), with Iraq being one of if not the most well equipped country to solve the problem. The Taliban’s rise to power was VERY important in the emboldening of other wahhabist extremist ex-mujahideen militant groups, namely Al-Qaeda. Had Iraq or any other countries stepped in, or if the people of Afghanistan had fought tooth and nail to keep control over their country, the 9/11 attacks likely wouldn’t have happened.
Think of it this way: imagine a notoriously violent radical Christian militant sect (that is known to have plans to try to do the same thing with other countries) takes control over Argentina, and then members of said group started to make themselves at home in Brazil. Brazil does nothing about it, and lets known members of that sect live in the amazon. Then other sects start popping up with similar ideals, and now one of them starts saying that they want to kill all Muslims living in the Middle East. Eventually there’s a terrorist attack in Baghdad that kills thousands. Who do you think could have stopped these sects before anything got serious for countries on the other side of the planet?
