    Wow, that soap was heating up fast. But the soap looks creamy and rich, I love the look of the honeycomb all the way around the bar, very unique. Great job! 😊

    Tina I just wanted to thank you for all the time and effort you put into your videos. Not only your time but the fact that you are so willing to share your expertise and allow us to use your recipes which is pretty rare. I've watched your Lye Safety Video and am working my way through yours and others videos on UA-cam. I'm totally new to this but am hoping that I'll be able to start making my own soaps etc to help with some health conditions that I have by getting rid of all those synthetically produced personal care items. So without people like you being so generous I wouldn't have a clue. I'm buying your book too. One question I have from another video. You whitened the hot process soap you were making and i've seen others doing this but using Titanium Dioxide, is there any reason you have a preference for Zinc Oxide? Thanks again.

    Hi Tina, loved your video !!! I made a honey and oatmeal cold process soap last evening .... and I forgot to put it in the fridge and realised an hour later ! I did notice the gel phase and I also noticed a crack on the top which I smoothened out with a spoon ! I will unmould it tonight but I'm so nervous about the strange colour it would have taken :(

    • @TinaMoenck
      @TinaMoenck  7 років тому

      tara malhotra I always let it gel, it's hard to stop a gel in a honey soap. I only use the fridge to keep it from getting too hot. The crack you got is over heating but it'll be just fine. :)

    Good evening, Tina! I'd like to enquire about your book. Do you write on hot process soaping? I'm very interested, but over here in Malaysia, HP isn't as popular as CP. Therefore, I'm really lacking knowledge in it but I'd really like to learn! So, do you write on HP? If you have, please let me know the title and the procedure to purchase it. Thank you very much!

      I do have a book called, The Soap .making Handbook Vol 1. I cover cold process, hot process, and liquid soap making. In the files of my facebook group, Soap Making and Business Coaching, I have a free 20 page tutorial on the Counter Top Fluid Hot Process method.

    Brand newby here. What does "false trace" mean? I've heard people referring to trace, and I've wondered what they meant. My daughter and I want to start making soap, just for ourselves and our families... She has a little experience, I have none. Oh and as soon as I'm done with this video, I'll go watch your beginner vids. I've watched many other soap making channels, but I'm new to your channel

      Also, I'd like to find information on why I would put certain oils, butters and waxes into soaps, and what it is they do? What purpose do they have?

    • @juliejenkins2376
      @juliejenkins2376 7 років тому

      Another question... A lot of people use palm oil or shortening (I assume they're the same thing?) in their soaps. Isn't it supposed to be taboo to use palm oil because of the way it's harvested? Or is there a specific kind of palm oil you use? Also, what purpose does it have?

    • @TinaMoenck
      @TinaMoenck  7 років тому

      Julie J Hi! False trace can happen when oils solidify instead of emulsify. Trace refers to thickness of the emulsification, and different thicknesses are desirable for different designs.

    • @TinaMoenck
      @TinaMoenck  7 років тому +1

      Julie J I actually have about 50 fatty acid profiles of all kinds of oils and butters in my book. I created charts for each oil.

    • @TinaMoenck
      @TinaMoenck  7 років тому +2

      Julie J I use certified sustainable palm shortening. I don't use Crisco, because of how it's made. The regular palm oil industry destroys forests and orangutan habitats.

    Every time I make honey beeswax soap cold process. It turns into hot process soap. Cooks before I get it in the mold. Just like hot process. It bubbles up on me and I have to remove it from the mold and mix

    • @TinaMoenck
      @TinaMoenck  6 років тому

      Jenifer Acklin What temp are you soaping at? The sugar does accelerate gel phase, but soaping colder helps. I don't try to do anything with it, just quickly pour it in the mold.

    Hi Tina, What is Colloidal oatmeal? I’ve heard some Soapers say they going their own ordinary oatmeal - which is great : ) The part that concerns me is that they then call it ‘Colloidal Oatmeal 😮...And I don’t believe that to be correct? [Ive seen/heard the same with some who make their own charcoal - and then call it ‘Activated’. When, as you would know, it goes through a specific Process to become ‘Activated’ ;);)

      Brigid Laffey Here's an article to explain colloidal oatmeal. www.tatcha.com/tatcha-institute/colloidal-oatmeal-benefits-for-the-skin/

      Tina Moenck Thank you, Tina. I’ve only just received your thoughtful reply. Albeit I had no joy finding the answer from that link. Never mind, it was an academic question. And in the event, I’m unable to use Oats in any form. Hence, I sincerely hope that the Oat content is clearly labeled for Coeliacs ;) ;)...’Cos the delicious sounding name of this soap would cause me to buy it ;);) P. S. I have always loved your generous-spirited videos (which in earlier days kept me company through many sleepless nights 😌).
