When LeBron said he veto'd Darvin Ham's defensive scheme against the Clippers, Coach Nick had to dive into the footage to find out how this adjustment worked.

That reminds me of how Lakers beat Rockets in the bubble playoffs. The Harden-era Rockets relies on creating a mismatch for Harden to iso. That worked against many teams in regular season, but not against LBJ and AD who could guard all five positions and switched everything.
you mean AD )))
Also, only had to guard 4 people since you can leave Westbrook wide open
@@euLIRIC Bron can gaurd all 5 as well
Savage but I remember them sagging so far off Westbrook
Bro Frank Vogel had this 2020 team scrambling on a string. That 2020 defense was honestly the only team that could’ve stopped the rockets.
He's LeGM and LeCoach, he does everything
And they say he don’t play defense smh. 🤦 Bros out here guarding the best player and drawing schemes at the same time

5:56 Darvin Ham literally cannot adjust during a game. I honestly hope we fire him no matter how well or poorly this post season goes adjustments is one of the most important things a coach needs to be able to do and the lack if it is going to be a giant problem.
He already is. Darvin ain’t worth a fuck.

😂😂😂
So is that the reason why a very good roster with 2 alleged superstars is the 9th seed?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lebrons defense made a big difference. Bron is comfortable guarding wings. I think with the nuggets jokic is a much bigger body. Kawhi is strong but jokic is probably just as strong as but he has a height and weight advantage. Which is where the issue becomes.
Those Lakers players know who’s their real coach 😂, LeCoach 🤔😳
He’s already coaching them
He also coached the Heat before and tried to fire Spo
That’s why Vogel was fired, he was actually trying to establish something
@@mattmmixes & y'all excuses in goat conversation be like Jordan got Phil Jackson etc.

Darvin Ham ain't worth a jack to coach an actual NBA team........ Lakers are better off with LeBron calling the plays..
If Lebron is so great and so mighty (as LeGM), how come no decent Coach wants to come near him, even for the frigging LAKERS? :)
...maybe the answer lies in the question.
@@Zett76 of course if youre a coach youd be intimidated coaching a player of lebrons caliber plus he could pass as a coach the way he makes and analyzes plays. What kind of thinking you got lol.
@@iannblanco4341 being a "caliber" and "intimidating" his coach, that are two different things.
Nobody ever had a problem with coaching Steph. Giannis, Luka, Nikola etc. are not known for being "intimidating", either.

@@Zett76 ya.. nobody likes a narcissist and a control freak. Just ask Phil Jackson.
@@Zett76 If you've paid any attention to how the Lakers FO has conducted itself since Jeannie outed her idiot brother then you know exactly why coaches haven't wanted to come here. Let me lay it out since you haven't and prefer to blame LeBron for everything since you don't like him.
Frank Vogel was treated terribly by the FO. Tyrone Lue felt insulted by the FO insisting he gets less years and his assistants being handpicked for him(this was done because Luke Walton hired his buddies as assistants and this FO overcorrects)so didn't come here. It was immediately speculated upon Vogel's hiring Jason Kidd who was the lead assistant would immediately take over should anything go wrong with Vogel as the fall guy, Kidd ended up going to Dallas instead of sticking around.
Vogel's last season the FO gave him a trash roster completely ill suited to his strengths as a coach and as early as December there was talk of him being fired several coaches commented on how terrible this was, like Rick Carlisle who is head of the coaches union, it was reported Quinn Snyder would not come here should there be a vacancy and once fired Carlisle in his capacity as head of the union spoke up how unfair this was. The Lakers FO knew they f*cked up so overcorrected again and gave this long leash and job security to a rookie HC who has turned out to be a terrible choice.
Lebron doesn't get enough credit for the defense he often put against Kawhi. There has been many circumstances in which Lebron does a better job slowing down Kawhi than the other way around and still for some reason people view Kawhi as some sort of a Lebron stopper.
He also did it last game they played, locked down kawhi and got the dub.
Kawhi in his prime definitely gave Lebron trouble but the later years Lebron definitely gets the better of him despite being older.
Ten years ago Kawhi got FMVP for guarding LeBron that's why.
@@youtubewatcher4955Context. Kawhi was able to put in more effort in defending LBJ when he was still not an elite scorer back with the Spurs.

Its not unusual for players like these to be an extension of the coach, although depending on the player and their stature in the organization. CP3, Rajon Rondo, MJ, Jason Kidd and a couple more, who had that thinking and coaches trust them to make certain calls during certain plays.
The problem with the LeBron being an in-court coach is the usual "too many cooks" issue. Yes LeBron can adjust in-game to fix issues in real time (tactics) but he is causing confusing to his team mates since they now have to re-adjust their thoughts which were just adjusted by their coach.
This is pretty frequent in team vs team battles, even in warfare. Generals can win a battle via tactics, but cannot win a war without strategy.
No confusion if you accept Lebron's word as final.
I'm sure they all know that.
Ahhh 🤫 "he's doing it already"...- in my library voice- 😂
Why are we acting like he hasn’t been doing this since 2018? LeGm & LeCoach weren’t made yesterday
This is the funniest title I've seen in a while
I feel like this is more because Lebron finallly decided to play effort filled defense. Usually he absolutely atrocious on rotating or help and their defense suffers. So this is a great sign he started believing in this team to make a run.
One the most interesting videos this year just from looking at the title lol
A basketball breakdown of a breakdown of a breakdown! 😂 I need to stop this basketball addiction!
Crazy how good LeBron is at his age... too bad Vando and Vincent are not healthy, the roster is not the best but pretty good tbh. I'm excited for this year's playoffs, the West is a bloodbath
Finally a D Ham roast session
the downside is Bron also can make confusion within teammates with his in-game adjustment, sometimes i saw Rui and DLo had that, maybe thats the main cause of their inconsistency but without him def Lakers wont make this far
This is gold content
would love to see him all mic'd up
ANYBODY IS BETTER THAN DARVIN SCAM… I rather have Kobe’s ashes coach the team
This is NOT a bad idea, Kobe’s ashes will motivate the players ten fold than Darvin
That’s an interesting take… a bit dark but interesting. I can see an urn on the chair now 😐
He does his best
yeah the biggest problem with Ham is he sticks to his guns a bit too much. He just pockets his hands and makes no adjustments.
standing there with his hands in his pockets and a defeated look on his face with the absolute wackiest lineups possible on the floor and the lakers giving up any momentum they gained in a game. I understand experimenting with lineups early in the season, but holy shit waiting until they were like 30-31 or something to actually try to find the playoff rotations should be fire-able for a team that is actually trying to make a deep run...
Ham isn't a NBA level coach and LeBron has a better understanding of both sides of the ball
Lakers have a great cast, their defense was hurt by Vando and Gabe missing so much time but they still should not be in the play-in and now at least have a shot making it to 6th seed
Which started with playing Rui more and Prince less while that is obviously not the only factor is a huge difference
Darvin Ham started Prince, Reddish, and Vanderbilt with Lebron and AD and wondered why they couldn't score at the start of the season. He made Lebron play point guard and sat Reaves, their only true point guard for a month.
@@dameongeppetto exactly.
Yes! They should let him coach, cause win or loose, this will shut the door on the goat debate, because it would be 1000 percent on him, no excuses either way
IMO they we’re throwing mixed coverages at Harden and Kawhi. More-so these are botched defensive rotations and lapses (a lot on Austin and Rui lol)
I’ve been saying Bron should coach the Lakers for a while now. Doesn’t seem like Ham is the guy for the job. Bron should be a player/coach.
If he ever gets injured he should.
😂 now I know why he's usually late on defense...
Bill Russell did it. He knows how to win. Lebron should absolutely do it
Not in the social media era just can’t do it

@@DEMI-sq5ufGM makes a bad trade, blame LeBron. Coach makes a bad decision, blame LeBron. Teammate make a mistake, blame LeBron. He's so big that he will be scrutinized no matter what
lebron says things that dont always align with what he actually does on the court. i completely agree that his boost in effort on D was the noticeable difference in that 2nd half, thats what we need from him. he doesnt always play defense consistently, he (seemingly) depends on switches, for a few years now at least. i dont know if thats him not being engaged on D or him following the assigned gameplan. many games im watching him not following his man, not prepared for/reacting to cuts, and then yelling at his teammates once his matchup scores or gets an assist. im a Cavs/Bron fan, ive pulled many hairs off my head watching him do this kinda stuff. its stressful.
i guess he's earned that at this stage in his career so i can understand, its year 21 i get it. but when we need it, we need it. i feel like he tricks the people that just see the steal/chasedown highlights, the game tells the true story. the lakers are already not the greatest man-D team, constantly recovering and getting beat by switches/cutters just makes it worst. thats just what i see, i could be wrong/missing details and asking too much of him. but that 2nd half, thats who we need in these playoffs
Haven't watched the full video, and I'm new to this, but I thought sometimes the Lakers didn't switch because of bad shooters like theis or because the clippers didn't force it 🤷🏿
slowed down euro bank shot 😭😭😭
The haters are already on him, no matter what he do. I would say Lebron abillity to read the game is an asset anyway, but he cannot do it always. But Darvin Ham got the luxury of a player with high situational awareness, so he can ask Lebron "whats your take on this", an he is able give a valueable opinion.
That perimeter defense will be their downfall if they reach the playoffs
*insert Bugs Bunny saying “no”*
D'angelo Russel is the best player on that team.
Nice to see Coach giving bron his flowers
I’m not an expert at all but if you have intelligent and elite defenders like Lebron and AD wouldn’t you want to refrain from switching so much? That seems like overkill. I get the adjustment Lebron made. I also remember AD confirming he doesn’t like switching because of what he brings defensively. On that DLO podcast episode.
You switch to conserve energy because their best player is in his 21st year. Lebron wears out and becomes ineffective on offense if he is having to glue to every teams best player. He is too important on offense as well...just a messed up situation that AD is so inconsistent, never got a 3 point shot and the lakers guards are awful in perimeter defense. Even today, Lebron locked down zion and they only switched when the Lakers were up 20 to rest lebron...super sad he has to do so much for an 8 seed that will get bounced 1st round.
Sugarcane Up
Of Course he’s already the coach though ! TB if basketball 🏀
When you listen to the full podcast, Lebron actually says they wanted to switch because they wanted to preserve energy cause they thought Game was over... so he vetoed the switching when they were down big
I can’t wait to get rid of Darvin this summer 😔
You guys have no clue about how fire bron’s retirement is about to be he’s looking to own a team he wants to own the Vegas team but the competition for that team is going to be fierce but he will be coaching his career is going to be so dope
You knew LeCoach right at the moment he played 1st game for Lakers 😅😅😅 LeGM did, too!!! He is the GOAT because he can play too many roles well at the same time in a basketball game than any others ❤❤❤

if you give up 2 points by resting to score 2points on the other end, you add zero value to your team. thats just stat padding.
@@pjc_deleon7290 It's hard to be the playing coach, it's like splitting your body in two aspects of the game aka multi tasking instead of giving your 100 percent in playing defense and not covering out for someone else's work which in this case his coach, Kobe was had a bad habit of sleeping on defense aka ball watching according to his coach Phil jackson, does that mean he didn't led the lakers by example? @@andybeardsack7898 , also non sense and mental gymnastics on your part. Lets call a spade a spade.
its one thing to occassionally make up for someone else lapse, its not another to consistently undermine your coach.
When you mentioned that Lebron cant multi-task, you shot your argument on the foot. There's should be a separation of roles and duties between a coach and a player, in order to clearly delineate accountabilities and responsibilities. Let coaches think of plays, let players execute plays. Lebron being a diva, wants to play his part on both, so he fails in either roles. As you can see in the last part of the video, it was the lack of effort and the owning up to it that really made the difference.
Also, your feigned argument about is also non sense. If kobe had a bad habit in defense, then he had a bad habit in defense that's it. He could have improved on it. One Wrong don't make the another one right.
