Special Olympics Figure Skater

Meg was mesmerised by the sparkly dresses when she first watched figure skating on TV. After her 9th birthday party at a local ice rink and being the best amongst her peers, her parents knew skating was something very special to her. Now 13 years old, Meg represents Special Olympics Great Britain and performs on the same ice as some of the best figure skaters in the world. Made with funding from NZ On Air.

That is some serious skill... on the rare occasion I'm ice skating my main focus is to not fall down or run into someone or something. She is on a totally different level and can literally skate circles around me.

Attitude Thank you so much I'm super excited about doing this. My forms finally came I've filled them out signed them and now I just need to get my doctor's approval and signature then I'll start my training . I'm super excited for this.

I'm now officially taking lessons. I'm on basic level 2. I've got 4 more basic levels to go before I can learn how to do tricks. Hopefully by the time my birthday comes around I can start doing tricks. But anyway I'm so excited to finally be able to learn how to skate just like I've always wanted to do since I was six years old.

Attitude Absolutely. I use to work with kids who have Down syndrome. These kids are so much more capable than society lets us think they are! Your daughter is beautiful. She's the definition of a princess
