The debut song "Batter up" is giving out a message "This is YG's new girl group".

Batter Up is just typical YG sound. When blackpink debuted, people said them is a copy of 2ne1 previous YG group before blackpink. Batter Up is a homage to YG artists, especially to their previous girl groups which is BLACKPINK and 2NE1. It's the way YG want to introduce them that they have a new group with YG DNA in it. Then, they gave them to shine on their own. For me, it's heartwarming since all babymonster members got into YG because of the artists before them. You can watch it in their Introduction Video and their survival show Last Evaluation how they are really inspired by YG artists. They also have been giving lessons from YG artists themselves.

That's Yg's formula tbh. He's not trying to replicate anyone. Alot the girls in the group have biases from bp. They ofc are using Blackpink as inspiration, just like Blackpink did with 2ne1. Yg said it himself They are all so very unique it's crazy. You should watch their last evaluation series to know how they formed

Since the beginning of 3rd gen, every YG created group (Winner, iKon, Blackpink, Treasure, Babymonster) has debuted with a YG traditional anthem song.

  • @David-wm5lc

You are right, Batter Up is a homage to YG. They take from almost every group in YG...they are closer to 2ne1 than blackpink. YG stans understand this.

AHYEON is back at YG. Glad she recovered. 😊

First of all, I feel the signature sounds in blackpink songs aren't blackpink sound, it's YG sound but blackpink made it incredibly well known till a lot audience start saying it's a blackpink sound. I think as long as YG continue make new group, this type of sound will continue exist, boy and girl groups.

They have already put out a video of a live performance of the song "Stuck in the Middle" and I think I actually like THAT ONE better than the M/V version... this groups vocals are absolutely outrageous and while Aheyon has returned to the group we still haven't seen or heard an actual BM song (besides their pre-debut song Dream) with all seven members in it (although YG himself already said that the group will re-record all their songs to include Aheyon) and that will REALLY separate this group from all the others - they are scheduled to release their first mini album on April 1st and then their first full album sometime in the fall - I really believe that they are gonna be the biggest group in the world someday in the not-too-distant future (for now BlackPink still reigns supreme) but do not sleep on BM, just saying

These young ladies, age 15-15-16-16-17-18-22* on 01Apr2024, are super talented in music performing skills while still did their best studying along together. According to new law of minor artist operations in S.Korea, the agency YGE kind of intentionally treating this new girl group members well.

A mini album is coming beginning of April with Ahyeon included and back from a health hiatus. I agree with you to a degree and think YG attempted to use the YG formula from the previous 2 girl groups and it backfired for a lot of fans. It wasn't a bad song I just think people were expecting something new and fresh (myself included) because everyone liked it a day or two later. I hope they find their individuality even though in my opinion they already have to a certain extent. They already showed us superior vocals with multiple members compared to Blackpink. It's really up to YG. YG said they hired 30-40 new producers a month ago or so hopefully new music and different sounds will likely be coming in the future and plan to give Babymonster a full album around fall. I know my girl Rora has a deeper soulful tone that is best suited for R&B. Highly recommend their pre-debut song Dream with all 7 members and Ahyeon's Dangerously cover that went VIRAL or Rami's cover of Pick Up Your Feelings- Jasmin Sullivan.

BABYMONSTER stuff (PLAYLIST) (ALL) (From the announcement of the group to the debut. YES...... The playlist has it all) :

The batter up song is actually a shout out for ALL the groups that YG had in the past. It has a taste of 2en1, BigBang, Blackpink and Treasure it was obvious too that their concept is showing that Babymonster is the future and next to represent YG BATTER UP is baseball reference which literally means NEXT PLAYER TO HIT THE BALL OR PLAY THE GAME. YG is not trying to make a next Blackpink it's just their way of introducing their new GG Blackpink used to be called next 2en1 way back 2016 cause their songs has references from 2en1 music until they found their own sound. That's what YG is doing now put some references then eventually found their own sound in the next months or years.

  • @marksmith8210

YG himself said that this song is an homage to those groups. Other groups are heavily repeated of many other kpop groups and get lost on the crowd. This is 1 of 3 songs they have and the only one like this.
