Thank you, your video helped me, but i did it easier: after you get into the gap between aluminium cover and plastic body near usb3.0, just lever up the cover with a wide metal spudger. It will make most of work.

I've been using one of these as an external for over a year now. Might as well open it up and put it in my laptop instead.

You really just need to get one tiny screwsriver or plastic spudger in there and pry. Takes two seconds once inside the seam with your thin but strong tool.

    • @hidefandy

This is spinning rust. Rarely is this form factor ssd. Price would also indicate ssd etc but price are coming down fast for ssd.

I haven’t seen a single video that disassembles to the part where I need to get to the disk. Believe me, I’ve looked at every video there is. Not a single person has tried to remove the screws to get to the disk inside.
That’s why I’m here. I’ve seen other external hard drives that have easily visible screw. But there’s none I can see. I believe they are hidden under the white layer of paper. I don’t want to mess it up. But I guess I’m gonna have to go to Walmart or target, get the same one, & use that one as a dummy and practice first.

This disk inside belongs to the catastrophic Rosewood serie ... to avoid for back up ... search the term ... and when it fails, there are no signs before, they only become not recognized, and the data recovery is quite impossible

This HDD is not the same as other easy-to-open Seagate Slim series HDDs. Don't you see it has a frikkin metal cover all over? Make a video where you open it in under 2 mins and prove him wrong, will you?

    • @hidefandy

Why? It’s meant to show how painful it is and almost impossible to do without damage to the case. I did four unsuccessfully.
