- This episode is truly the creepiest I have ever watched O_O
Special thanks to Daniel Pineda for sending me this
I do not own Theodore Tugboat. It belongs to the respectful owners - Розваги
What makes this episode even more eerie is the fact that we're never told what exactly Malarkey's true intentions actually were.
Yeah.....we'll never know, we can only assume....
Definitely not one of the more "vanilla" episodes. It really sent a message. Good for kids. The way the Dispatcher talks to Hank at the end is really touching. It shows his "father figure" side to the tugs.
Every 90s kids tv show had its little mandatory stranger danger PSA but this one made such good use of camera and dialogue it made me shiver as an adult. Malarky reminded all of us of a creep we fell pray to, or a creep that a friend fell prey to, or a close call, or a creep we met as an adult, or a creep we (insert creep scenario here).
That's pretty impressive, considering that inanimate metal tugs don't even have genitals, lol!
And you know what else? As adults, we shouldn't forget to listen to our funny feelings, too and believe kids who report abuse instead of coming up with bullshit excuses like "Uncle Ray would never do that!" or "But he's my brother!" or "Kids make up things" that really mean "As long as I ignore it, it is not true."
I like to think there’s a secondary message here. Knowing who you can and should trust when something isn’t right. Theodore is a great friend to have in that situation.
"Don't forget Hank.. This is our little secret."
Jeeze. That's goddamn creepy.
oh i didn't know you liked Theodore tugboat too
Yep that’s what pedophiles say.
Hank's not gonna keep his word
jesus christ that gave me literally shivers
If this was a TUGS episode, it would be even darker and much more creepy!!!!!! I swear someone should make a Creepy Pasta out of this episode!!! Also, this is the only Theodore Tugboat episode to be nominated for an award as it tell kids not to trust people you don't know very well!!
My guess is that after Hank fessed up, Malarkey was searched and arrested by Constance, Foduck and Nautilus.
James Riddle Y’know, that would’ve been very interesting to see.
Actually, Nautilus was busy partolling in the Arctic but Foduck and Constance did search Malarky's on-board computers and found a huge stash of pictures of smaller boats with their bumpers off and showing their hulls and there is a search warrant for him in Spagatini...😮
And then, Malarkey was soon under arrest by both Foduck and Constance and Constance spoke severely to Malarkey about his behaviour and crime. And then he was deported from the Big Harbour never to return again.
Pedo ship 😂
They probably found pictures of young boy tugboats in his bottom deck
Yes, it's a good lesson for the kids. Malarkey was a wacko who needed to go to the brig!
I might be wrong, but this might be one of the few times a kids' show created a physical antagonist for its "stranger danger" message.
I still like the closeup shots of the stilted eye movements; They're prime examples of "show don't tell."
Definitely the creepiest episode of the series, I remember first watching this episode when I was either 8 or 9, and I couldn't see what was wrong with Malarkey, but when I rewatched 10 years later, I saw exactly what was wrong with Malarkey, and it gave me the Heebie Jeebies. I'm very pleased that Hank did the right thing in the end though. While this is a creepy episode it's also a great episode too, in fact I think it's one of the best episodes to come out Season 5, as it deals with Stranger Danger, and how kids should not trust strangers. That is one thing I love about Theodore Tugboat, it deals with many lessons and struggles including Bullying, Depression, Stranger Danger, Boy vs Girl, Anxiety, OCD, ADHD, Stage Fright, Loneliness, and many more. But yes it is one of the Best episodes to come out of Season 5, it's number 3 on my list for my favourite/best Season 5 Theodore Tugboat episodes below Theodore the All-Powerful, and Theodore and the Unsafe Ship.
how old are you, go outside and touch grass.
Which episodes that each deal with Bullying, Depression, Stranger Danger, Boy vs Girl, Anxiety, OCD, ADHD, Stage Fright, and Loneliness, exactly?
@@TheCarly16 Bullying (Theodore and the Boat Bully), Depression (Hank and the Hug), Stranger Danger (This episode "Hank's Funny Feeling), Boy vs Girl (Emily and the Tug of War) Anxiety (Theodore and the Scared Ship), OCD (Foduck and the Rainbow), ADHD (Pugwash is Gone), Stage Fright (The Tugboat Pledge), and Loneliness (Theodore's Big Friend).
@@ericburns9132 Thanks! And what many more serious issues do you think are there?
I'd so dearly love to see this weirdo pull this stunt in the Bigg Harbour with Ten Cents/Sunshine and Captain Star, cause we all know Big Mac and Warrior would have more than just 'words' with him after that!
Or Zip and Zug
Would likely find him at the bottom of the harbor. Also I wish they did an episode where Tugs was at least referenced. Perhaps as a story about how tugboats have changed or about rival teams. They wouldn't have to mention the Star tugs directly, but y'know what if.
@@pizzaplanettruck9761They’d probably try to buy Malarkey’s “Magic Flying Powder” and realize too late that it’s just sand in bags.
No wonder he’s called the ss malarkey
Theodore Tugboat will always be unforgettable
The real awesome scene I prefer is when Hank told the dispatcher about the secret S.S. Malarkey told him implying that S.S. Malarkey was gonna get arrested and confess what he was up to in harbor unexpectedly
I still giggle, even at this age at Spagatini.
Dumb 12 year old me once asked his geography teacher if it were a real place! XD
Theodore Tugboat couldn't possibly be a babish safety franchise
I don't think its a baby show at all, I think it is a great series for everyone kids and adults

Now this is one fucked up topic that Theodore Tugboat has to cover. A topic about strangers kidnapping children. That show really took one hell of a risk.
It did

Trevor the Traction Engine
@@bigbigarchivewhat’s he got to do with this episode?
So lemme get this straight..Malarky (practically a grown man) asked Hank (practically a CHILD) to join him on an 'adventure' ALONE mind you....and Hank cannot inform his closest friends or the Dispatcher (who is practically like a father figure to Hank)...
So in short, a grown man asked a young boy to join him on an amazing adventure alone and he can't tell anyone, not even his dad....
In the words of Bobsheaux: NOPE! Nothing creepy about this!
And that is exactly why this episode is one of the most important of the entire show, so that kids truly understand the importance of stranger danger
Well sometimes kid shows need to have dark episodes, if they made it more childish, it wouldn't really get the message across.
@@allenginesgofan101iambeing4 I totally agree! I'm just sayin' though....
Theodore tugboat behind the scenes.
If Hank did keep his word he'd be trouble but not blamed
I never thought that Theodore Tugboat isn’t afraid of taking risks by doing “this” episode. Now if only the Harbourmaster could recruit a Police Tug, then the show wouldn’t have to waste time for running 130 episodes straight.
But in this case, may i suggest a coast guard boat as they're always seen as a the police of the waters
Malarkey’s a creep but I would say this is a far cry from TT’s “darkest” episode like the other comments here are saying. There are plenty of episodes in s1 that were darker than this.
Examples?
I knew this episode was going to be so dark. My god.
1:39 S.S. Malarkey has Oliver's stack.
Maybe he was owned by the same harbor Oliver came from.

S.S. MALARKEY WAS EXPECTING HANK TO OBEY HIM BUT IT DIDN'T WORK THROUGHT HANK'S LOGIC RESULTING IN S.S. MALARKEY'S ARREST.
Destruction is can create death for Big Mickey
Why didn’t the harbor master tell us what happened to Malarkey?
The franchise can't go beyond maturity
He could'veb at least said he got into deep trouble.
Perhaps Malarkey's fate was meant to be up to the viewer's own ideas.
The scene when Hank told Theodore and the dispatcher about S.S. Malarkey's secret which the whole Harbour will know as well police vessels are gonna have to question S.S. Malarkey about himself
I never got to know what became of S.S. MALARKEY
I SERIOUSLY JUST SUDDENLY GOTTA COMPLETELY ADMIT THAT MALARKEY THE CARGO SHIP CERTAINLY DOES ACTUALLY SOUND QUITE SIMILAR TO THE OFFICIALLY WELL-KNOWINGLY FAMOUSLY FAMILIAR THOMAS & FRIENDS CHARACTER KNOWN AS SALTY THE FRIENDLY DOCKSIDE B R CLASS O7 DIESEL SHUNTING LOCOMOTIVE!
HOLY SHIT THIS IS DARK
NEVER TRUST UNLIAKABLE GANGSTERS AGAIN, THEY AREN'T KEEPING THEIR WORD CLEAR!!!!!
10:32 climax
I always found Malarkey's raspy voice kind of weird and cringy, like it's a sure-fire sign his tendencies aren't exactly harmless 😨
Also, the Harbourmaster never got to visit the tugboats because of his funny "gurgle-gurgle, ping-ping" lol
What's so creepy about this episode? I didn't see anything in this episode.
Malarkey (an adult) is telling hank ( presumably a child) to meet with him secretly and not tell anyone. Need I say more?
@@GMokemoD I guess when you put it like that, the concept of Malarkey being a child predator is quite disturbing.🤔 This episode a good way to handle a serious topic in subtle way that doesn't upset viewers.
What's so creepy about this episode? I don't see anything creepy...
It's the fact that Malarkey wanted to take Hank alone. It makes you wonder what was Malarkey really going to do
