Started going the cruises about 30years ago, it was in the park then, must have been 800+ cars on a good turnout in summer…..the real fun started on embankment about 11-12 after the park closed, and everyone had a maccy D’s at Wandsworth drive thru. Good times.
AngryBirds Andy He’s still got it! I bumped into him at Santa Pod when he was running his Cortina up the strip in 2018, as far as I know he’s still a petrol head 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Paul Farrer Yeah...I’d heard the same as he was pointing out just how long he’d own it since 78. Great days back then. We’d all pitch up at Blackheath Burger Hut on way home til early hours next morning in 8 - 10 cars just talking cars!
Takes me back to the 70’s and the days of the flames up the sides, didn’t realise it was still going, thought it was all parked up in Battersea park, great video, a lot of 70’s steel still on the road..
Oh how I’d love a classic ford. Anglia, escort, cortina, Capri, Sierra, owt they look timeless. Only think a 1600E will ever be within reach down the line for me, prices are mental! :p Being 17 and currently looking at 1.2 fiestas definitely shows there is a long way to go, but one day fingers crossed. At least we’ve got these brill vids to lust over! Sweet
TisElite 1600E was the first motor I remember being in as a kid. Had Rostyle wheels until someone knocked it but we got it back and dad stuck some KN alloys on it. Loved that car. Traded it for an XR3 hmmmm
Ahhh the A3 northbound.. around the early 90's fondly remember the clutch release bearing in my beloved Escort mk2 detonating at tolworth towers but I stayed in the lead all the way to roehampton ... however after knocking into neutral at the traffic lights at shannon corner it was always going to be 'get out and push now'. Stowed the car and carried on to the Cruise all the same in a friends car and it was a top night... as they always were. Happy Times and Great People 😊

Ruined by the modern stuff not the cars exactly but the driving skills ...or lack of (',') craving for attention I guess, great to see the varied mix of old stuff, always a good turnout with the Ford Escorts Anglia's etc at these kinds of meets
Looking at this reminds me of just how "Bland" our cars were back in the 60's and 70's. We used to sell all this stuff back then, and very few of them turned me on so to speak. I have always been a "Fan" of the American "Muscle Cars" from the late 60's thru to the early 70's. They were much more stylish, and had that "Wow Factor" than no boring Escort or Capri, or most of the other British cars could ever have. OK, US cars back then may have been too big and thirsty for our roads, but they certainly were better looking and turned alot of heads.
Used to attend some of the first Chelsea cruises back in the mid '70's. The whole custom/hot rod thing was just getting going then. Days of Richard Whales fabulous Herald and John Baldachinos Ford Pop panel van. Real stars back then. I used to drive a mildly customized Vitesse. Glad to see it is still going on. As long a people behave themselves and are not a danger to anyone it's a bit of harmless fun and quite a spectacle. I do remember the police had to do their due diligence and address the complaints from some of the residents off the Kings Rd. Glad to see 45 years later it's still a thing. Hats off to the authorities for letting it roll. Only the most egregious anti social behavior needs to be nipped in the bud, then with any luck it'll continue for another 45 years for (nearly) all to enjoy.
9:13 - The series 1 RS Turbo. My all time favourite car ever. Had one once a long time ago and countless Mk3 XR3i's. Looked like a great day with a good variety of motors to check out! Brilliant. 11:25 - Marcus Hayes in Maude (his channel is great)
Awesome video! I had no idea Chelsea was back up and running. Went every month from late 80s-mid 90s, a mate said it was going again about 5/6 years back, so I nipped over and there was about half a dozen cars! Good to see there’s a decent turn out again...

Aussie representin' @10:46 :) What an awesome day, some way cool rides there. Was good to see some "local" icon struttin there with the best of 'em. 10/10
The cruise has been happening for decades but since the 1980s various people have always been complaining about the noise, the crowds, the loud radios, then the loud bass bins, burnouts, the ‘wrong’ sort of cars attending etc, although oddly there’s never been fights, thefts or much anti social behaviour. But London now hates cars that aren’t electric and the police have far more powers regarding dangerous driving and cruises / meets. What’s kept Chelsea going this long is the fact that no one organises it so it’s far harder to shut down and - so far - there hasn’t been a serious incident or injury. Don’t drive like a dick, however good you think you are. If you drive something brand new that you can go shopping in, please park it a few streets away.

Don’t understand why you’d go in a bog standard new car that you’d see in any supermarket car park then park it with show cars.
All to common now sadly
I mean, not everyone has classics... but they still wanna go and enjoy the show. Let people enjoy themselves
Because it is a car
JustAnotherSadBoy SBTT by all means enjoy the show, but park the boring modern around the corner.
