When you actually read the instruction manual.
WHO DOES THAT?!
@@maxlvledc , lol, especially if you haven't bought the thing yet. I have been debating the purchase, now getting one sure.
@@maxlvledc every sane person lol
@@maxlvledc I actually do read every single piece of product literature an item comes with. Often before I’ve even bought the product, if it’s available online of course. 🤓 How else would someone know about all of the functions something has? 🤷🏼♂️
@@NBC_7 .. Because you're smart! lol Not everyone is... 🤓
I just saw a British man send in a completely destroyed Leatherman and they honored the warranty. I like Leatherman
Saw the same exact video earlier today and now my feed is completely filled with leatherman, my dad has a few and ive always admired them for their quality and ingenuity, truely fantastic tools
was it the Leatherman that had like the broken pliers and both of the blades were broke if so I saw that same video and I was pretty amazed as well
But how do you destroy a Leatherman, much less break one? I’ve had mine for 15 or 16 years and it still feels about like new aside from needing to sharpen the blades per usual for any tool. I had lost it for a few months and tried a Gerber and it broke right before I found my Leatherman, lol.
@@2nd-placehe probably intentionally broke it. Most people doing high stress tasks won't be using their multi-tool but a dedicated onr
Well kinda crazy. I broke my skeletool bending a soft metal wire clamp to remove it off a compressor and one part of my pliers broke and they didn't send me a new one or even answer my claim.....
Ooooh, that last tip just made the Crunch *infinitely* more viable in the bush.
I don't think it was intended as a marital aid. Proceed with caution.
@@embracethesuck1041 😂😂😂
They didn't make very many of these, as far as I know. So this video is only useful to maybe 5,000 people on the world.
@@chazmichaelmichaels88 I guess I happen to be one of those 5,000 people so I guess it reached its target audience. However, the first 2 things are well known and the last one is very impractical, so 🤷🏽♂️.
@@rainman21O agreed. I saw a video where someone was speaking of it and said lestherman only made a handful of them like 5k max (could be less, can't remember the number). So I feel like I'm watching a video about how to fix something on a Lamborghini countach lol
Local man reads instructions - is shocked when he learns how to use product
😅
Owned a crunch for almost 20 years it's a fantastic tool.
jeez ur almost thru the warranty
This is the ultimate Leatherman and people don't even realize it. The locking pliers can be used on nuts and bolts, to pull nails, as a replacement motorcycle clutch lever or gear shifter in a pinch, as a clamp when you need a third hand, etc. It offers functionality no other MT does in such a small package.
Harbor freight MUST clone it
@@lindboknifeandtool I wish they would. They just put out a very good wave clone
Bought one of these in northern Iraq 2004 from one of the roving PX’s. Still have it and use it quite often. The vice grips actually work quite well even after all these years!
Hope these don't sell out before Christmas.
EDIT: Luckily I snagged one a while before they got discontinued. Hopefully they'll make a more modern replacement, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Shame they can't fix these pliers anymore if you need to warranty the tool.
That 3rd secret tool got me. Never knew that. Thanks for sharing👍
Yeah definitely didn’t see the engraved picture and think “yeah that probably doesn’t mean anything” lol.
So it's the ultimate vice grip plier 😳 That's insanely cool!
UA-cam videos have been getting progressively better each time keep up the great work because I enjoy learning something new everyday!!!!!
Thanks, will do!
I lost my crunch a couple years ago. Still bummed about that. It is the coolest multi-tool that I've ever had. Vice grips are handy af to have in your pocket.
Most people don't know that any leatherman model can be used as a skipping stone across the surface of any lake. My record is 22 skips on Big Bear Lake with the Leatherman Wave.
bad ass!
It's a nice concept but I wish it was built a little tougher I broke mine easily
Send it to leatherman and they will replace it free
I find that really surprising! I've had mine for decades.
Lifetime warranty! Don't hesitate to use it!
Thank you! I've owned and used this marvelous multi-tool since...2007, I think. So thank you for letting me know how to use those two blades. (All these years and I never knew, so I ignored them.) 🛠
That is awesome, I have to carry a Leatherman and a pair of mini vice grips as EDC. Minimize here I come. Thank you.
can only imagine how many multitool-cane addictions you started
One can only hope haha 😆😅
I also like that it has a full 3-d Phillips head. I can’t stand those flattened versions
Holy shit I never knew these were a vice grip!!?
The groove in the pliers also allows the user to twist wire efficiently and neatly, whether for securing fasteners or, as I used it to secure a Peli-Case lid with 0.8mm stainless steel wire.
Lock Wire Pliers aren't something most people carry, but the Crunch does this perfectly, and has wire cutters!
I have the original Leatherman Super Tool, the Crunch and the Micra, and I consider them to be exceptional devices.
My Super Tool and Micra were EDC along with my beloved favorite tool of all time, my Victorinox Swiss Champ (this is my 47th year of EDC a Swiss Champ!).
Self locking Vise Grips are unequalled in their versatility, and I bought my Crunch after reading about a motorcyclist whose gear lever sheared off at the clamp, so he used his Crunch self locking pliers as an improvised gear lever to get him home!
As a motorcycle mechanic and motorcyclist, I appreciate the versatility the Crunch offers, I also consider it to be one a visually appealing tool, which looks really neat.
if you have an old micra..NEVER TURN IT IN! something happened over the last 10 years and now they cant cut very well.
The absolute best Leatherman ever made.
I have 2 really nice leathermans and love them but I'd give both of them up for one of these. What a handy tool.
I own one of those, and I’ve had it going on 40+ years, I never knew either one, it is the best leather man
Thanks man, I carry a Leatherman daily for ages. But I NEVER heard about these features! 😮
This might become my new favorite Leatherman.
I've had an OG Crunch for years and never knew this!
Evidently these are discontinued and sold out everywhere. I can't find one in stock anywhere except on eBay and they are asking insane prices for them.
Your channel is so dang cool man! Ive never geeked out so hard on little
gadgets/pocket-tools, it’s like I never knew what I was missing in my life until now. I can’t believe I went so long in my life never having found the missing puzzle piece to my heart. Until recently, I simply assumed everyone felt the way i did… I just figured it was stuff you just didn’t talk about and so I never did. I just accepted things the way they felt from day to day and that’s just what I got accustomed too. It wasn’t until I was in my mid 30s that I first asked myself the question… “Am I really sure that’s it’s normal for a grown man to just randomly, for no reason at all just find myself crying without even noticing it?” I’ll just be going about my normal day and I’ll think I’m feeling totally fine and I’ll see myself in a mirror as I walk past and I’ll notice my face is soaked in tears! It took me years of coin ring and thousands of dollars to discover that I had no clue what was wrong with me and where all this trauma had come from that’s inside my head… but once I found your channel, I realized what had been missing my entire life. I watched every video you had in the first night I found your channel. For the first time I felt full and happy. This is now what I think people must feel like when they’re finally fulfilled and truly free from the lamo life I had before finding this channel. I could go on and on forever but I’ll end thing here by simply saying… thank you for giving me my life back and helping me see that there are things worth living for. I owe you everything
I need this for my next camping trip. Already having a good camping knife, The Swiss Knife will stay home in my personal museum... Thank you.
The ultimate multi tool. It has saved me so many times.
I inherited one of these tools and carry it in my tool bag. I believe it would replace my wave as my belt EDC if ONLY the blade was more easily accessible.
Love my Wave! I wear it almost everywhere. I'm so used to it I sometimes forget I'm wearing it and I go places that don't like you having something with blades on it. Like airports (lol). I put it in my checked bag when friends and I went to Europe one year. The day we left London for Amsterdam I forgot to pack it and didn't realize it until we got to the security check point at Stanstig (sp?). Was pissed because I just knew I was about to lose a $100+ multi-tool. Put it in the tray, watched the x-ray tec do a double-take, look at me and then reach into the tray to pull it out. He looked at me, reached to his belt, pulled out his Wave and remarked how much he loved his. He then handed it back to me and told me to enjoy my flight. Dodged a big one there.
Edit:grammar
Wish the crunch was a touch bigger. It’s on the small side and it’s very expensive. Great tool tho, love mine for the most part other than those two issues.
I haven't seen something like that since the one that Schrade and Irwin came out with in the early 2000's
I struggled to get one in the UK and managed to source a direct copy of Ali express for less than £15. I’ve had it 3 years and has been awesome for the money.
A ali express copy?? I'd have to see that.
Damn they just keep coming out with cooler, and cooler tools all the time!
This one is actually old, over a Decade in fact
Honestly super cool multi tool for 110$! I know most of the price goes into the leather man branding, but that’s because they’ve proved they are reliable tools.
I was gifted this leather man after my grandfather passed, what a great tool.
My wife bought me this awesome multi-tool made by SOG. I wish I knew what the model of it is, but it is literally the best tool I own.
the crunch is the most underrated multi tools ever
I use jigsaw blades on my vise grips many times!
did it cut the vise grips, dull the blade or both?
I would like to see mult-tools where the main structure of the tool can be legally carried on a plane but where, like this tool, you can drop by a local hardware store... once you've reached your destination... and buy saw blades or box-cutter blades (all RELATIVELY cheap and available). I don't like to have to check any baggage if I don't have to. .. even for a weekend backpacking trip.
I didn't know about the wire striper, nice.
It sure is a great tool.
I was cleaning out an old cabinet at work and found a *totally rusted out* Crunch underneath. I sent it to Leatherman for R&R and they returned something that looks and feels brand new. They’re warranty and support is awesome. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very cool!
I’ve been using one since the 90s and when people see it , it’s always the same reaction “I’ve never see one like that”. It’s Leathermans best kept secret.
I agree..my top 3 leathermans ever made
Thanks man I've been wondering about that stuff! I saw those things on my crunch but didn't realize that that's what they were for. So again thanks!
You forgot to mention the fact that while using those hats bits if you unfold the tool half way that you increase your torque ratio therefore in making it a more powerful tool
There is no hinge on the crunch the same as a wave..so doing that will bend it all wrong.
Sad that people are really saying they didn't know their Crunch had these. They're listed functions on the website and on the retail box.
The groove in the plier was the one I missed
I like that one.
Wire stripper sounds cool, but we all know that’s really a bottle opener so we can more easily drink while operating heavy machinery.
I wish these features were obvious on their site, I would have absolutely bought one instead of the one I actually did.
Nothing beats the sexiness of the Leatherman MUT though.
That thing is an engineering masterpiece
Thank you your films are very good
I'm still rockin a black chrome super tool from February of 98, never thought I'd want an upgrade. But this thing might make me do it
This thing came out over 10 years ago...still a huge following and almost nothing like it on the market.
@@maxlvledc never even heard of it or seen one before. I haven't kept up with whatever leathermans making these days, could have sworn it was a new model
The notes in the teeth/jaws also lets you grab the older style hose clamps on cars, too. Quite handy when you don't have screw-driven hose clamps as the squeeze style can be rather difficult to manipulate.
I know you had a video a year or two ago about pairings -- have you considered gripping the Signal in the Crunch to give your hammer a handle?
Nah, I just change grips. If I needed that much force I would just get a hammer.
If they had an outside access knife for the crunch, it'd be my edc
Why I carry a Skeletool. The vise grip would be nice though.
This is all good right up to the point when I lose the tension screw.
I own a dozen different Leathermens, but the one I carry everyday is the original PST in black oxide. You can't beat the nice compact size, plus it's got the best tool assortment for my daily needs.
you are 100% correct. still one of the most efficient tools ever made.
Just found your channel. Absolutely love it.
I'm not paying a price subsidizing 30% off to a few castes.
That cross grove is also allows u to hold sensitive screws without stripping them.
Good point
Feels like most of these additions would've been more helpful built in rather than having to also carry them alongside it
I've always wanted a Leatherman but I've wanted this one for s long time. Thank you for reminding me how awesome it is lol.
"it's got a saw, and a file!
The catch?
You gotta carry a saw and a file. Separately"
They way he says Lethamin made me think this was a weird offbrand tool till i saw the name imprint
Best leather man I have
One of my Top 3 as well
His mind will be blown when he discovers the knife someday.
The crunch is the best!
Agreed
A consultant is someone who read the manual. Thsnks
TAKE MY MONEY!!
I got one for Christmas!!! Woot!
Nah, I'll stick to my Leatherman Super Tool 300. Been carrying it for decades, and never let me down.
I never leave home without my hex bits
I’ve had my Crunch for many years now.
This is going to replace my Leatherman wave+ pretty sweet setup
I hear they're coming up with one called the Leatherman America. It has all the normal tools and it also fires off 16 9mm hot streak loads plus one in the pipe.
Very underrated multi tool.
This is the first multi tool that I’ve seen and actually want to, and prob will, actually purchase since those gerber ones that had the plier head slide in and out of itself. My job supplied us all with one and I loved flicking the pliers out! Everyone one the crew did that shit and would fidget with it when sitting around but they were used every single day multiple times and lasted years and I still have mine somewhere even tho it was 16 years ago when they gave them to us.
I own one carry it everywhere and didn’t know this.
I knew about these features but did not know they were a secret 😅
I've never seen this model before. Thank you!
I carry the the crunch in my mini tool bag I got from county comm with the extension and the ratchet and one of those heads that fit everything (forget the name) with saw blades rem grit. Roll of duct tape and shrink tubing and i keep it mollied on my backpack. Silky gom boy and a tomahawk and awl. Haven’t yet run across anything in the bush or urban that couldn’t rig or fix. Handy as hell 110%
I'm still a fan of the Skeletool. Had it forever and I'm sad they don't sell replacements for the knife. I've sharpened it so many times, the blade is almost gone.
Ive sworn by my wingman for years but that crunch looks like it could be more versatile
I like how they put the wire stripping diagram on it. There are those out there that don't read instructions and probably thought it was a bottle opener.
Never even heard of a Leatherman Crunch.
I think Leatherman and Boston Dynamics should make a handyman robot.
Ooooo
After using mine for couple months. Its a 2/5 for me. The lock to unlock causes the l.m. to explode and needs to be reassembled almost all the time. Which is no fun. The biggest issue now is those small screws on the side loosen and if you dont constantly check the l.m. you will lose one and the entire tool becomes a expensive fidget toy.
never heard of these problems, id send it back to leatherman.
I LOVE my crunch.
Legend has it, some old dude
overhauled a 327 with it... 🤔
Great tool, if they made an XL like 50% bigger it would be nearly perfect.
but at that point I think I'd rather carry a small pocket knife + dedicated vice grip.
Where are those attachments stored? In the handles of the tool? Or are they kept in a separate place?
Separate place
I bought one because that groove is the right size to pull tungsten out of a TIG torch.
I knew all of those features.
Because I own one.
Yea I love my crunch, on my hip every day
I want to get a Leatherman because I appreciate well built, well designed tools but I have no real purpose for one lmao
Cool information
Didn't need one till I saw this vid ;)
That's cool. I just ordered 1
