- For over 100 years, Jehovah's Witnesses have been predicting that Armageddon is just around the corner, based largely on their interpretation of Matthew 24:34 which speaks of a "generation" that will see both the end and the beginning of the last days. The question is, are they getting it wrong about which last days Jesus was referring to? Is there a way to determine the answer from Scripture in a way that leaves no room for doubt. Indeed, there is as this video will demonstrate.

Hey Eric. Some time back I researched the Greek word in Matthew 24:34, generation - γενεά, and it's application. In English it means 'the whole multitude of men living at the same time'. It seems that the WT rewrote the Greek dictionary too. Keep up the good work brother:)
Your explanation of the scriptures makes so much sense, so clear and obvious. At last I can piece it all together. Thank you Eric for all your time and energy in putting these videos together. I could never have imagined that the Bible passages you've explained in your last 3 videos could ever be explained so convincingly, and to the best of understanding, so correctly.
I still struggle with many questions particularly with respect to the story about what happened in the garden of Eden, archaeological findings of early humans vs the Bible's own account, the global flood, and more. But surely you've contributed in no small measure in helping me keep my faith in God alive while I keep searching and hoping for answers to my questions.

I think there are members of the GB who are sincere but they themselves have become followers of men. This is why the bible says “keep seeking out truth as a hidden pearl”. We can never sit back and rest until we have made sure of all things. It takes humility which is the test now on the GB, will they be humble enough to rethink their teachings and lead innocent people to relearn the truth.

N S Keep praying friend. I am very confused too. Remember that Jehovah says my Commandments are not burdensome. We shouldn’t have to over analyze. Jesus spoke to the people with easy parables. Remember that there must be Double prophesies because clearly Jehovah knew that we weren’t gonna be alive in Jesus day. Otherwise why would the Bible persist many years after the life of Jesus? Why do we still have the Bible if those prophecies were already fulfilled??? Double prophesy. Remember that when we analyze prophesies in FULL context, there are many parts to them that still haven’t been fulfilled. Therefore they become Double Prophesies. Like you said, God keeps shining light. It becomes clearer and clearer.

The Great tribulation begins in 2027. Look up messiah 2030. The watchtower society is desolated in 2027. Perhaps in march 26? Look up the Seven year tribulation. Daniel 12:11-Rev 11:3, Dan 9:27.

I was pondering how many times the bible has been upgraded There must be a ton of mistakes. I believe the g b and the watchtower have proven themselves false prophets, Jesus would make sure many scriptures were missed while being tampered with by the watchtower, I’ve noticed the j w s act like the bible was written just for them, I’m not scared but I’m scared , I’m in a mess as an ex, I’ve learned too much for this to be the truth, I just dint know how to find it , unless worshipping can be done from our hearts and not a building. I was shocked by 1919 and the overlapping generation.

One of the simplest ways to expose Jehovahs Witnesses is to ask three questions....Do you believe that you are a sinner and Jesus died for your sins? Do you believe we should do everything that Gods son tells us to do? And the last one.....How often do Christ brothers in New York his anointed brothers Encourage you to feed your enemies pray for them DO good to them....? How often do they invite the crippled and the lame and those who cannot repay them over to their house? They are simply to self righteous and too stubborn to admit they never do these things

I remember about 4/5 years ago I was out in min with the C of B of E and we had the discussion about the generation only applying to the first cent, putting forth the some of the arguments you have presented (wish I had your conclusive evidence you have presented in your series mind) and he remained silent as he could not refute the logic. The term "this generation" is not a time period. It refers to people, all (or many of) the families that are living at a specific time. Jehovah was the first to use the term when talking with Noah. (Gen. 7:1) Jesus said his presence would be like the days of Noah. Why would Jesus think of a different definition of "this generation" than his Father? In Ex. 1:6, the term "that generation" refers not to Joseph and his brothers but to all 70 individuals, as context shows. Must reconcile all occurrences when the term is used (mainly by Jehovah and Jesus).

again, another great episode. concise, and unlike the wachtower explanation on the same (as well as on other) topic, it makes sense, it feels right.
from the age of 14, 15, i started having discussions with elders about this and similar issues; prophesies, time tables, and the end time, and finding meaning in the bible to determine when it will be.
i often objected that jesus said, it isnot for you to know the day and hour, so why do we (Jehovahs Witnesses) claim to know it, especially since Jesus said that even the Son didnt know. the reply that came up at least once every time was something like: 'No doubt Jesus knows." me: "but he said...". "Yes, sure. but it makes sense to assume that by now, so very close to the end(btw, that, i consider circular reason) Jehovah would have informed His Son already. for sure, long time ago.
the first time one of the elders answered me that way, me at age 15, maybe 14, i was stunned. i felt like that guy was being intentionally stupid.
and other arguments to defend the watchtower, words like discernment were used in a way that made me so frustrated. like : "if you can not see that th gb is right in its (calculations, reasoning, or what ever) then you better start praying harder, studying more, more prreaching, etc. so work and perhaps you will be saved if you are lucky. and that was what i got instead of some real sensible reasoning, or else some clear answers that actually made sense. it was obvious they were not gonna try to help me find the truth, the right answers to my questions. they didnt care about truth, they just want to be right, in their defense of the watchtower teachings, making sure those ignorant slaves kept working. A few years latre, after so many useless discussions, i gave up, and stoppes all activity except going to the meetings sometimes, for the sake of the family.
Your explanation here is outstanding. i bet even those moron elders i talked to back then would be able to understand and knowing and admitting in their hearts that the pile of bs the watchtower sold us for pure clean a-quality "spiritual food" was an unsult, a waste of time and a hinderence in our attempts to find God.

@@juliabann2238 Interesting theory that really can't be proven. Christianity requires so many leaps of faith. You would think a God of order would have given a more clear message. Yet, the bible is full of contradictions and not just little ones, some really big ones. Like for instance, John is the only gospel that claims Jesus was a divine being and the other 3 canon gospels don't mention anything of the sort.

Do you k ow anything about 1919 ? Never heard it taught but I hear it said once in awhile from the g b or once from the elder at my hall, where in the bible dose Jesus come to earth three times? Is it taught in the bible? Did I just miss it?

So it's none of our business to know the times says Jesus. We are the ones suffering and dying on earth. It would seem the the business is exactly ours to know. How can these be the works of a loving god? Additionally, is God not capable of explaining things in a way we can understand? And he sent forth his angel and presented it in signs through him to his slave John, 2) who bore witness to the word God gave and to the witness Jesus Christ gave, even to all the things he saw. 3) Happy is he who reads aloud and those who hear the words of his prophesy, and who observe the things written in it, FOR THE APPOINTED TIME IS NEAR."
The writer of Revelation....could of cared less about OUR generation ....he and his Revelation readers were concerned ABOUT THEIR GENERATION since they were suffering SEVERE BRUTAL PERSECUTION IN THEIR DAY.
Revelation was written for the generation reading REVELATION....in it's day!....and it ONLY was meant for it's day.

Rev 11 clearly outlines an arrangement for worship that is acceptable to God.
That stage in time..in the last days..there is no time left to make alternative arrangements.
Each one will stand by reason of their own faith.
Follow carefully the description and historical explanation given by jehovahs witnesses and you can make your own mind up as to whether they are and have fulfilled the role of the two witnesses.
There's much evidence of thd plagues spoken of in verses 5 and 6.
Verse 10 may well refer to Xmas.. a time when there's an exchanging of gifts..
That's something everyone knows about the witnesses ..That practice was foretold to take place between those who Oppose..the two witnesses..(as a rule the two witnesses stands out )

Those taking the action to remove the wicked man after hearing Two witnesses Reporting their horrendous sexual experience of molestation or improper touching puts the guilty person in isolation , shunned..
No need to hear more and more complaints against the same person..just the two will do.
That action in itself will save many children and outraged parents from the misbehaviour of the pervert.

That's the time in which we live.
You know you'll be left with contradictions if you just understand parts of this prophesy as having one fulfillment. God's kingdom did not come in 70 C.E., but a (8) king is spoken of doing something to a holy thing, ostensibly, Babylon the Great a certain period in history. Keep in mind the temple was a holy place that was about to be rejected. But Jerusalem destruction didn't end with just Jerusalem and it temple. People had to flee in some mountains. Pella
7:37/9:42 ' even he( Jesus) didn't know when he would return'. Really? In a general sense ,Jesus did know when he would return- he gives the signs of that event(vs.5-30) and even implies that he knows the hour of that event( vs.44). Yet,he admits that only the Father knows OF THAT DAY and HOUR or CONCERNING THAT DAY and HOUR( Kenneth Wuest) So if I tell Eric that I will come to his house at an hour he does not think,I certainly better know when I'm coming. to visit him! Yes,our Lord doesn't contradict himself,so let's not contradict ourselves when we interpret his statements! Otherwise, a helpful analysis of Matt.24 and the weird Watchtower generation confusion!
It the things that define the generation, whether you where on 99 to
new born when it began or where 99 to new born when it will end. This
stays in line with God's anti-caculatory nature of the exact hour of the
end. Nice and vague. That's why I like the prophesy about the beast
ascending into the abyss and then coming out of the abyss, and the kings
of the struggling to give their authority to the beast for one hour.
League went in an then went out as the United Nations. This is a sure
fire one time event. That's why I generally don't like the prophesy of
Jesus gave on the mount of Olives, because it's so vague.
The great evening meal when God invites the birds of heaven to feast on military commanders and Kings, influential and lowly..adding to the list of the effects of this pandemic on humanity..

When we have the smile of approval of “the happy God,” we can be happy despite religious persecution or opposition at home.-1 Tim. 1:11

im now a born again christian .but i joined jws in 1963..i had many conversations and debates with christians over the years and made many friends ..however most conversations were mostly about the trinity and hellfire much time was wasted .me trying to prove i was right the others that they were right..if only somone had talked to me in this constructive way i may have woken up yesrs ago..i found most born again christians actualy had very little real bible knowledge always fixed on hell and trinity..because jw were well schooled in thses subjects i never felt a need to delv into other beliefs presented.i remember being physicly thown out of a so called bible discussion group becsuse i would not accept the trinity.( i do now by the way) another time i had a gent slam thd door so hard it almost broke the glass .with the words ", you deny my lord and savior " as he did so ..so many christians wont stand their ground and help jws with sensible scriptural argument . how ever eventualy i woke up .mainly from bible reading and my own research .snd watching videos like this...i just think its a shame church goers are not more proactive in actualy helping jws come to christ ..
it's the holy spirit that has come over Eric cause when he was a JW he did not have the holy spirit they take that from you. that's who Jesus left in charge of teaching and to help remember.

John freeman you make some good points but I don’t see any basis for the trinity in scripture , just like man the spirit realm are all individuals , we are made in there image , everyone in Gods grand creation has a free will , even the Holy Spirit can think for itself and it can be grieved .

What you say highlights a major Major problem with the JW's. The JW's think Jesus was speaking directly to their modern day organization, when in fact, He was speaking directly to His 12 deciples. This is so obvious when you pay attention to what the bible says, and so confusing when you pay attention to men.

Christopher Estrada... I was asking Eric’s take on the writings of Tacitus and Josephus re the above... because in the scripture where the High Priest is asking Him if He’s The Son of God... He says, “You will see The Son of God coming on the clouds...”... and then in Revelation 1:7, it says,
“...He is coming in the clouds and every eye will se Him... and those who pierced Him will wail because of Him...”...
Pauline Burke Seems pretty clear that Jesus is coming on the clouds in both scriptures.
I was struck by the fact that both scriptures appear to have been fulfilled in 70CE... and the phrase, “I am coming quickly...”... implies it was imminent...

The entire bible is full of holes. If you are looking to it for guidance, I feel sorry for you. Once you research the origins of the bible, you will see it is just a man made book that is full of a lot of out dated ideas and legends.
Love the way the Bible is written. It was designed to be a mirror you see what you see. It hides things from people.Luke 10:21. Draws peoples hearts out, can be a trap to some. It has a puzzle component. With this book God can use this to get his will done. It draws out the heart as with Jesus’ death. Luke 2:35.

You are right in some ways. People read the Bible and then decide for themselves what God represents. It is the way it was written, a reflection of what they want to worship. Only a few find the actual God.
@@blindear5303 The bible is very clear what kind of God we are supposed to worship. Remember the jealous God parts of the bible? Remember what happens to those creatures that reject God? How can a creature have free will if their only choice is to serve God or be punished? How can a being of love and wisdom display so many flawed human emotions? Much of the bible we know today can have it's origins traced back to many different cultures that influenced the bible writers. Bart Ehrman has some amazing books showing how Greek influence played a huge rule in what many Christians believe today.
God has been very gracious with free will, he puts up with a lot. He allows humans to rule themselves make their own decisions. Eventually he will allow our way of doing things to be seen if it benefited us. Sodom and Gomorrah was free will until the outcry became unbearable. The Jews had a covenant with God, they accepted all the milk and honey benefits and turned around and made stupid idols to worship. What ingrates! They really took advantage of God. Now back to Eric’s video. God didn’t force the JWs to do anything. Free will. In this instance it caused many people to be spiritually hurt, stumbled. That is free will for you. It’s not over until til it’s over. My human mind can’t see how he could give people a second chance with the resurrection, his free will.
