more parking means more people- less accomidations means they go somewhere else- We are already full so I am a NO- as for 5 stories- If we allow this the height limits of 3 stories will be challenged for every development going forward- so again I am a NO- 3 stories max!
So I see someone paid attention in Speech class LOL I thought you were sleeping but apparently you were taking notes! ✍🏼 Haha you did such a great job on this! Very well-structured, engaging and a clear informative message. And ur such a natural on camera! Go Chris! 🎉 Thanks for the information! Pretty cool. 😎
I believe if you lived in this immediate area each one of the supporters and commissioners/and mayor would object for approval of the variance/PUD. Owner of property should be required to adhere to current B2 commercial zoning. Develop property in a neighborhood friendly 3 story building. Not this 5 story monster that will be a nightmare for us locals who live within blocks of lot. This will do nothing for the Flagler Ave and Canal avenue parking issues. No real parking issues here at 3rd/4th avenues. New lot on 3rd ave has not been fully utilized and they just dropped price as a result of this underutilization. Locals do not want 5 story building across the street from their private, residential neighborhoods. Please do not support or approve this PUD.
Guess what Sue? He has the listing for one of the four commissioners homes in the historic district who is also a realtor. Don’t they have to abide by a code of ethics? Something is starting to look like a conflict of interest.
I agree they should have to adhere to the current zoning laws as that would only open the door for more development that we don't want. 5 stories is what they are requesting it is up to the city to make the decision on changing the zoning.
@@HarrietHelyer Everything we do as always above board. We have no ties or relationship to any of the parties involved. This video was made simply to let locals know what's going in the area, because we feel that a lot of people don't get this information until after these things are approved. I feel I took a pretty neutral stance here. I will say I don't agree with the 5 stories and think they should be required to keep it to three as the current zoning states.
Didn't know this was in the works so thanks for sharing - I'm all for it! I think it'd be smart to match the beach day pass rates to the parking garage instead of garage parking being more expensive. Also, do you know if the developers or city have plans to extend the sidewalk along 3rd Ave. between the beach ramp and Hill St. if this gets approved? If people end up using the garage and walking to the beach, it may be hectic trying to access the beach in a car!
@@rickhousemarketing Great point, I’m not sure if they have any side walk plans. I’m sure they would have to implement something to help with people crossing over. The next city meeting for this is August 13th 2024. Hoping to get more insight.
The 90k in taxes won’t cover the cost of one patrol car and the salary and 401k of a single police person. The Daytona 5 story garage is patrolled at night. In the next week or so it will have 24 hr police presence due to drugs, panhandling, dedication, crime, fights, homeless trespassers and other behaviors. They employ a full time painter to cover graffiti. I spoke with staff who told me they were afraid to walk out of their locked office. When I spoke to the one woman, I was accosted by a random who instantly got it rated when I didn’t give him the time fast enough. He threw a water bottle in his temper fit. Not good. Take a drive to Daytona Beach Earl St garage to see why we shouldn’t allow this. BTW the developer Sadique Jaffer’s last address I could find was in Windemere (Orlando) waaay south west from here.
Is it a conflict of interest that you have one of the four city council members home listed? Is there a connection between you and Sadique Jaffer that both of you need to disclose?
As I replied to your other comment. We are not involved AT ALL in this project. We did this video to provide insight for the entire community of what's going on. I have never met Sadique Jaffer, but I am sure he's a nice guy. I am sure you are nice too and I appreciate your concern for the community. I hope you have a beautiful day and look forward to seeing you at the parking task force meeting at the Brannon center on August 1st to hear your concerns and solutions you may have about these issues.

If the developer was cognizant of locals and wanted it to fit into the area they would adhere to current zoning and not request one off changes to the LDR that suit the needs of their particular project. This video sounds bought and paid for by the developer, who IS NOT LOCAL (out of Lake Mary).
Nope. not at all. The purpose of this video was to let the locals know what is going on so they can stay informed and be aware of the city hall meeting August 13th. Hope to see you there.
