Yeah, it is just information delivered at a good pace. There are no calls to action (subscribe, like, buy my book!) and he doesn't talk forever about how he came to play pool blah blah blah.
I can tell this humble gentleman poured his heart into this video, and it has helped me a lot. I appreciate the time you fine sir took to making this video and please know that six years later, you still helping beginners like me! Thanks you
Explaining that the ball cue would leave at 90 degrees from the impact point regardless of where it was before the shot and then deviate based on the spinning direction (or not spinning at all) it is priceless. I've been stuck trying to make sense of that for a while. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
Hands down the best introduction to Billiards on UA-cam. It's apparent that you worked hard on this to give a clear and concise tutorial as quickly as you could manage. Thank you, sir. You have helped many amateurs who love the game improve on their ability.
Even though this is "just pool" I feel this was the best 10mins I've ever spent in a very long time (if not ever!). Thank you very much for sharing. My life round the pool table will never be the same again 😁 God bless
Should really make this 10 seconds longer.... for monetization. Out of all the videos I've watched this one is the most deserving of that youtube money!!
Loved this video. Loved loved loved the diagrams and visuals. The important elements--bridge, footing, elbow pendulum--were very well explained. I always think of where the balls need to "kiss"; never thought of the ghost ball position. Will try it next time I play. Watching this video makes me want to play! Or watch more videos.
Thank you so much for this lesson! I recently visited with a friend who taught me the rules of the game, but I had no understanding of how to make the shots. For me, everything was just random. I know I will enjoy the game more now. Can hardly wait to try again!
I've been playing pool on and off for as long as I remember being able to see above the table with my own eyes. I'm not any good I can say but I sure know the theory of the game pretty well. I got to say, I really enjoyed this video and can tell the tremendous effort that has been put into it. 52k likes and up. Congrats! By the way, just realising this is from 2009. Wow!
Everyone is writing that he put a lot of heart and effort into this video, but we all need to appreciate the fact that this guy drew all over a perfectly good pool table.
The BEST video from a content perspective. To the point, no bs, no intro music, the "Please subscribe, like, bell icon"... He's not trying to hook you, make you spend more time than necessary, trying to sell you anything. UA-cam content creators, learn something from this man please. This shows the sincerity.
Excellent! Well thought out and delivered tutorial. I've been playing both pool and snooker for over 40 years and you touched on each area critical to good beginner learning habits in a logical order. Knowing how to strike the ball does no good if you have an improper stance and poor stroke.
Thanks! :D My dad wants me to get into pool with him. My Dad can't explain instructions for his life, I was standing there feeling like and idiot as I failed badly... This really helped! :)
TonyGAMING maybe he is trying to give more advice than you can handle. tell him to give you time... I am sure he has a lot to teach you about the game.
Tony wait until.your dads out or at work and practice by yourself and play around with the angles ( where u hit the cue ball) honestly dude it's a fantastic game if your enjoying it but don't feel pressured into it
As an APA 7, I still come back to this video after many years to refresh my fundamentals and promote it to the beginner players on my team. Great , to-the-point instructional.
Very good explanation... your preparation time shows. Only suggestion is to note APA, BCA, etc. have variations relating to choice of group in 8 ball, cueball placement following a scratch, etc. In other words, learn the specs for your league(s).
If every instructional video were this succinct, informative, and accurate, I feel I could learn every skill in the world and come out a decent player.
As your right ear is controlled by the left hemisphere of your brain, and that hemisphere is responsible for logic, science and maths, then anything your left ear was hearing would be wasted information. You're welcome.
@@Momo-xh8np Absolutely trying to make you look like a fool; the audio only comes out of the right channel, but both ears are equally able to hear it. If you wear headphones when watching YT, then you need to re-evaluate your life, because you're missing most of it.

hirshizer ...the flat plane geometry is encompassed in the larger framework of physics...so you're both right...the abstract geometry is carried out in the physical realm...there is much geometry involved but it is far from being just geometry...
So you can aim it well. Just as it helps to have certain things in the plane of the shot, it is (generally speaking) better to have the cue and your eyes in (or as close as possible to) the line of the shot. Orthodox usage of the rest brings the eyes even closer, as the cue is kept in line with the chin, your face right in behind it at the back of the stroke.
I smacked one across my brothers back when we were kids, it was only a cheap junior one but I hit him full force and it only splintered a little, it would take a hell of a swing to snap a decent cue
Yes I have and no it doesn't. The human skull fractures at 6.5 lbs per square inch. A pool cue is most often made from hard rock maple or fiberglass and if you swing that at something, at the point of impact the force applied is on the order of 2,000 lbs per square inch. Do the math: 2,000 versus 6.5. Guess which one breaks first. (Hint: it ain't the pool cue...)
I am going to re-learn billiards after retiring from engineering, and spending 4 hours a day working fast food. I am in great shape for 85, so stand back and watch. Great video I am going to follow. Thanks!

Me too, and I've been around pool tables casually for most of my life. This guy explains the physics in a simple and eye opening way. So good.
Yeah but with wide angles it doesn't. The object ball does spin. Which is why pro players will aim to miss on wide shots
Thanks for as neat video. No ego, no trick shots, just plain talk delivering good info. Thanks.
Great presentation. And thank you for drawing the ghost ball. I've never seen anyone do that and it actually helped clarify things quite a bit.

very rarely do you see an instruction like this that encompasses both the mathematical structure of a game as well as the physical. Awesome!
The ''ghost ball'' concept is super important and helpful, as mentioned by another person below.
