My mother loved this movie. She loved the song and my husband learned to play it. It became our family’s “song.” All four of my kids learned it. Often my husband would play it and I would sing. He passed away from a PE after falling on ice and breaking his leg very badly. He was to have surgery on the fourth of January and our son said he had dreamt that his Dad died in surgery. On the first he threw a clot. He died in the ER where he had spent most of his life as a physician. He never made it to surgery. On tn he night of visitation a restaurant stayed open so people could eat and visit, celebrating his life. Our oldest daughter was one of the last to go into the restaurant. After a minute she started yelling, “Mom! Mom! Everybody! Quiet! Listen!” There was a hush all over the packed restaurant. On the intercom this song was playing. There was not a dry eye. We were so comforted. Thank you for sharing my story. God bless you.

This was an amazing movie of hope, determination, fighting for what you want, resilience, ... all wrapped in layers of different kinds of love which provided the audience a way for every person to relate to it. The song was the frosting - or maybe the glue. Everyone knew it and sang it. When the music leaves the audience singing off-screen, you've done something right. The words are meaningfully memorable. What an era of time this was - the best music ever written was in the 60s and 70s. There will be no era ever like it again.
