Another good question we should be asking is whether or not the new Coach wants a 3-4 (I believe vrabel and flores use a 3-4) or will we keep a 4-3, because irregardless we have holes on both lines but more so if we switch
Poles has ONE pro bowler after three years. Warren is a lawyer who talks like he’s running a law firm. You are running a football team. You need FOOTBALL players. The rest is all lawyer speak.
I do somewhat agree, although we do have really good players especially on defense, two for sure Poles drafted in Gordon and Brisker. Probowl voting is sort of a crapshoot, and deserving players on teams with poor records are often overlooked. Lack of talent isn't really our biggest issue. Other teams do much more with less. Coaches are supposed to help maximize player's abilities, and for the most part (especially on offense), that hasn't happened. Obviously the player has a lot to do with this as well, but that also goes back to holding players accountable, which again leads back to coaching. This exact roster in KC or Detroit with those coaching staffs produces at least a couple more probowlers. Not to say that those teams don't also have more high end players.
Maybe we should proceed into the thought process of Ted Crews becoming the point man, and his determination process for the path forward with the Chicago Bears! Ultimately the decision maker at the top of this entire process is either Kevin Warren or Mr. McCaskey. May we pray the process proceeds as promised!
"Ryan Poles is exactly who the Bears want to be the GM. He's soft-spoken, calm...." Never mind whether or not he's any good at his job. It's more important to have a corporate-approved choir boy who puts a "good face" on the franchise.
Singletary (unfortunately) wouldn't be great, objectively speaking that is likely the truth. But damn would that be awesome! They should bring him as an assistant defense coach.
For the first time since lovie the bears are a very attractive job. Also aren’t we mad at the bears for not interviewing an unheard of OC for HC with KOC. That being said make cute the HC is a top guy.
If you consider it attractive now , then 2017 when Nagy was hired it was attractive, Had the #1 defense and ,the first Qb that was first taken the year before, hindsight you can obviously say it wasn’t because how Mitch played out , but only 32 jobs at the time #1 D , Young “franchise” qb , it was attractive when Nagy was hired.
The problem with Poles is that he drafts players that have good traits. However, college players not only need good traits, but also football technique. Not all college players skills relate to the NFL. Poles seems to draft or sign players that have potential and not necessarily have great talent. He wants players like himself and Ian Cunningham
Can we talk about how Kevin Warren said 1 year is a lifetime in response to being asked if he's committed to poles long term. Omg. Lmao. New pres same shit
I think Poles overthinks things and instead of realizing that he is going even farther in and interviewing the entire world!! You should know the 5 that have a chance and not waste anyone’s time with the rest
lol you guys are always complaining. If they don’t cast a wide net and their 1st and 2nd option go elsewhere then what? This is a stupid complaint against a team that’s so flawed you could have your pick of hundreds of valid concerns
McCaskey a control freak. (See how he started his presser?). Yeah. And when we go 6-11 with TB (and I like Brown)?? There’s ONE factor in my 50 years a fan that hasn’t changed……….
Hope. We are talking the Bears. How many years have we "hoped"? Seriously, more of the same. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Ben Johnson would be the stereotypical pick for the Bears. I don't care if he was a good OC. We keep going for the OCs and DCs and NEVER choose a head coach....go get a freaking head coach.
Shanahan, McVay, O'Connell, and LaFleur to name a few OCs alone since 2017 (no HC experience) who have gone on to be successful HCs. All of these teams have been able to build continuity with their QB and offenses as the HC also calls the play. This is the dream and two of these are in your own division, so why not shoot for the moon with Ben Johnson! That said, I'm all for candidates like Vrael or maybe even Flores with HC experience, but mostly because those guys are ass kickers and culture builders.
@@ba2ooka19 Those coaches are the exception, not the rule. While "shooting for the moon" isn't bad, it’s crucial to find the right coach for the right organization. Expecting to simply plug in a successful offensive coordinator from another team and see immediate success sets unrealistic expectations. Take Josh McDaniels and Adam Gase, for example. Even Bill Belichick struggled during his time in Cleveland before building a dynasty in New England. Who will Ben Johnson bring with him? How much influence will he have over draft decisions? Will Ryan Poles take charge of the draft while Johnson focuses on coaching and developing the game plan? Are Poles and Johnson aligned on personnel decisions beyond just the players? These questions are critical. Hiring an offensive-minded coach is only part of the equation; the coach and general manager must share a unified vision for the culture and direction of the franchise. This alignment is why the GM and head coach roles are so interconnected.
@chrisyongchu Hard to argue with any of this. Obviously you don't just give Ben the job without flushing out all the questions you laid out Assuming though he checks the boxes around philosophy, personality, network, etc., I don't think the fact that he doesn't have HCing experience prevent you from pulling the trigger. All HCs start somewhere and as far as a resume for playcalling, eye for offensive talent, and offensive performance goes, his is glowing!
@@ba2ooka19 I completely agree with everything you're saying. However, it’s worth noting that Detroit also has one of the best offensive lines in the league. My point was simply that expecting to hire a successful offensive coordinator from another team and achieve instant success is an unrealistic expectation. Good luck with whoever they hire.
Clown show. The Bears and Chicago sports in general are a poo poo platter. Why mention the lakefront for a new stadium? Anyone familiar with the area around soldier field or McCormick place knows there is no fix for the parking, access to the area or the space to build. They are building a new stadium in AH.
Let's not pretend there's ANY chance they get this right. This non-confrontational, mommy's boy culture is one person's fault, and his name is George McCaskey.
I have zero faith in them..the hire should be Ben Johnson if you want the offensive hire or Vrabel if you want a CEO no nonsense type. But I really don’t think they’ll hire either one of them they are gonna hire Cliff Kingsbury. I almost guarantee it
This is what happens when people grow up playing Madden Football and look at their phones all day. People forget their is a human aspect to these hirings and firings. It was completely normal for Ryan Poles to sit there in shock after Matt Eberflus was fired. I mean, WTF?
George didn't need to speak today. Just stay out the way, George. When you involve yourself, you get shit wrong 🐻⬇️

1 pro bowler ain't bad. He's been decent at drafting. Not mention fleecing Carolina

Ryan Poles has zero pro bowlers unless you count Sweat
@@mikeh4818He’s been pretty bad drafting actually
He didn't draft the probowler
Resting Hoge face was the funniest thing I've seen all day 🤣🤣
I truly thought George would open the presser with a thank you to Abe Gibron.
Or Neil Armstrong. Landed on the moon and coached us to a losing record (same guy, I'm sure).
Roy , what if Johnson gets a 5 year contract. Will they extend Poles for 5

We need an experienced head coach period!! This entire team needs an ass kicker!! Vrabel or bust!! If he goes to the Patriots? We’re pimped 😡
Anyone else feel like not firing Ryan Poles is the same mistake as not firing Eberflus last year.
I think Poles knows Ben might say NO, same with Vrable. He's looking for an escape route
Remember nfl rules regarding head coaching - The Bears need to appear that they are looking at many options
Ah yes. The Orwell rule....I mean Roony..Roony Rule
Why are Chicago professionals sports teams run like a shit show? None of these teams seem to have a clue on how to build a champion.
Truth
I'm going to be honest with a hot take. I believe these guys are honest. All of them. It's nice but if they don't produce, they don't produce.

You know, the Bears have had success with coaches named Mike. How about we get a Mike? Vrabel, McCarthy, Singletary?
Singletary (unfortunately) wouldn't be great, objectively speaking that is likely the truth. But damn would that be awesome! They should bring him as an assistant defense coach.
