2019, Uruguay vs Fiji, what a game,
1999, France vs All blacks, close to best second halve of rugby ever.
TX for all these reminders.
It was so important for both Japan and South Africa that Japan won at Brighton.
Brighton is my hometown and that day I felt Japanese it was truly some beautiful rugby from japan
The springbok lost to brave blossoms is the most shocking moment in RWC. 🇯🇵❤️🇿🇦
Uruguay is a very passionate and rich little country - when they set their minds to something, watch out! Look at their achievements in soccer - incredible really! I expect they will be at Argentina’s level one day!
I watched the first half and start of the second half of the All Blacks France game at a buddy's house in 1999. Halftime I got in my car celebrating my Superbru prediction, by the time I got home the French had won the game. It was upsetting.
You did not play superbru in 1999 my man.
Freakin’ time traveller over here playing Superbru before it was created. 😂
@@diogeneslantern18He never said how long it took him to get home 😂
Japan beating South Africa ❤
I clearly remember being in a state of laughing shock at that loss.
Dark years those 2015-2017 for the Springboks...
The sheer determination from Japan impressed me!
I remember watching the SA vs Japan game live at a packed Oktoberfest in Pretoria. Everyone just left after the game shocked. LOL
Samoa beating Wales at millennium stadium 99 WC was a huge upset at the time
Please don't remind me! I was there with my ex! To add insult to injury, she destroyed the front spoiler of my car on the way home. Such is life
I’ll never forget when Scotland lost against Australia in 2015 because of a last minute dodgy call by the ref and he ran off just after to the dressing room
And he was one of the best at the time. Retired soon after!!!!!
No
Yes, definitely
Nop, hardly an upset. Prior to RWC 2007, Argentina was recognized as the most-improving union thanks to great players like Pichot, Corletto, Ledesma, Roncero, Albacete, Contempomi brothers, Aramburu (rip). So the pool was an expected competition with Ireland and France
What i love here is that there’s several games that are claimed as the greatest upset in RWC history until we get to the famous Brighton Miracle. Maybe one day we’ll see another shock result that even tops that! I can’t even imagine who would play or how good that game would be
'7 Rugby World Cup UPSETS that really happened!' - as opposed to: '7 Rugby World Cup UPSETS that didn't happen!'?
I guess the ones that didn't happen would be Georgia not beating Ireland in 2007, Ireland not beating Australia in 1991, Fiji not beating Wales this year, etc...
France NZ was one of the finest games I have ever seen. It is tragic with all the rule changes we will never see games like that again. It is all about keeping it tight now and low percentage risk now.
You finished with the French beating the All Blacks in 1999. Funny how there was no mention of the eye gouging or biting by the French. For myself, this game will always tarnish my respect for the French. But cemented the comradary between Australia and New Zealand when the All Black players went into the Australian camp showing the war wounds that the French inflicted. Fore warned, as John Eales threatened to take his side off the paddock as the French were using the same tactics against the Aussies in the Final. God defend New Zealand!!
Equally no mention of continuous cheating by NZ since Andy Hayden got away with it in Cardiff, leave alone Richie McCaw
I´ve a fellig that Fiji will knock out Australia at the pool stages this year
That group will be amazing, 4 teams at roughly the same level and Portugal still pretty good
Before the tournament, I was saying that Australia could plausibly finish 3rd in the tournament or 3rd in the pool.
Wales vs Fiji was a great game - generally thought the best of that tournament. But, as a Welshman, I'd quite like to see the result go the other way this time - please 😃.
how is the SPRINGBOKS VS ALL BLACKS FINAL 1995 not in this list ,or even the Bok Australia game earlier in that RWC?????
I don't think those qualify. The opening game was always going to be an even battle. Australia might have had a touch more quality (maybe), but South Africa had home support. In the final, obviously most people thought NZ had it in the bag, but there is a tendency to overrate a great attacking team and to underrate a great defending team. NZ was a touch better in those days, as indicated by their results against South Africa in 1994 and 1996, but those results do show that any margin between them was pretty small. Consider, too, that South Africa had just bested France, who in turn had recently swept a series in NZ, and then take into account the home support and the moment of history (and yes, the illness), it wasn't a massive shock.
Thank god I didn’t have to come here to see England beat wales in 2015 again. Should’ve been in here
England not even getting through the pool stage of their own world cup should've been in there. I remember they were supposed to be favourites to win. 😂
Someone tell Wilson to stop spooning our winger please😁
As much as I love watching Tonga give it to France uraguays win over Fiji is just wholesome
Now to mentioned in the list: RWC 2023 Fiji vs Australia
Was Samoa over Wales in 1991 really the first victory by a non-seeded team over a seeded team? What about Fiji over Argentina in 1987? Did that pool only have one seeded team (NZ), and the tournament only seven?
they play seriously
The Biggest upset was Samoa over 6 Nations Champs Wales in 1999 WC.
Wales weren't 5 nations champions in 99
ikr
Eng Vs Aus, 2007
The results of poor referring and Tmo and racist decisions leading to most of these wins... Johnny Sexton was right all along the game is a joke.
My man how is race involved in this 😂😂 it’s rugby
World Rugby propaganda channel. They have made certain that they have kept the PI down. Recent rule changes to a 5-year period for residency and allowing players to represent their country of birth/heritage a start but should only be a one-year standdown if going from a tier 1 country to a tier 2 country. Also, this new 12 team comp which will shut out Georgia is a massive middle finger to those outside of the 'club'.
Excellent
Sa vs Japan upset would've never happened if we didn't have so many politics ruining our sports
No, it was the ref's fault. Or maybe the team was just full of old guys past their prime. I can't decide if your comment is racist or ignorant. Look up the squad, only 9 players weren't white in that squad. Out of 33. How exactly do you think politics caused that loss?
Strongly agree with @AgentMoray, the boks had one job, Morne Steyn missed a kick for touch, Japan got the ball back and scored a late try, no politics involved there🤷🏽♂️
Because the same so called politics that you @moonstone3578 say cost us 2015, also won us the 2019 RWC😤
That was an old time you can't repeat what we did in 2007 with old players
@@AgentMorayhaha the refs fault, knew there had to be one here 🤣
@@JD-qn5dvit was sarcastic ;)
