Corregidor is too small and can be destroyed easily by cruise and ballistic missiles.
Today the AFP is looking at long range weapons that can be hidden in the thick jungles of Luzon or Palawan.
For example the land based Brahmos missiles, has a 300KM range, it will fire from somewhere in Palawan, then quickly relocate to avoid counter fire. If its in Corregidor, it can’t hide, there is nowhere to run.

If we draw the 200 NM eez line of each country in south china sea, you will notice that the center outside of eez of china vietnam and philippines. The center are considered as international water. USA, Canada, Russia, Japan, Australia, India, Europe and etc. can navigate, fished and explore the resources. All country on earth can fight their rights in south china sea except inside the eez of each country.
The center are the peanut hole of the south china sea. Everybody owns this peanut hole.
If USA really wanted to help Philippines. USA should deploy guards inside the peanut hole boundaries.
If this happens, China Vessel have to cross around Taiwan eez or vietnam eez before reaching Philippine eez. They have to fight Taiwan from the north, vietnam from the west, and USA from the Center before reaching philippines.
