Can I just thank the team for putting together a truly quality video? You don't see much like this any more. Cheers to everyone involved.

This is fantastic, my great grandmother was Croatian and we had this for Christmas every year until she passed. I never got to see her make this. I’ll definitely be making this for Christmas this year.

This lady is an utter delight to watch! Such a great video! Thank you so much for putting it out! I needed a refresher course, because it's been some years since I've made povitica, but I find myself with loads of walnuts and plenty of time! Planning a surprise for my husband, who grew up on povitica. Lol Thanks again! ❤

I'm in the KCK area. I've seen my MIL walk around her round table plenty of times stretching dough for strudels. I've never seen how Povitica was made though. We just finished off a loaf from Strawberry hill. It was delicious. I'm going to attempt to make it. I hope it turns out good, I don't have a mixer so wish me luck. Thank you for the tutorial.

Excellent documentation. My grandmother made it every time we came to visit, but I never saw it made. I miss her and her kitchen smells.

Holy mackerel! That was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen done with dough! I would have destroyed that poor thing putting in 1 million holes as I tried to stretch it!😂.
I have to give you two thumbs up and a big round of applause because that was definitely a work of art and a labor of love! Well done!

I love that she actually pulls the dough. That's what we do. Had a heck of a time finding a youtube video to share with a friend that didn't [gasp] roll the dough. Wish like heck I'd taken a video of my grandma doing this with us.

Fabulous! Attempting this with my daughter in CO at thanksgiving. We are in KCK as well and know what an important tradition povititca bread is. This is an excellent tutorial - Thank you so much Mrs. Novak 😊

These ethnic ladies knocked themselves out with holiday baking. The breads, cookies etc. Hope the traditions are handed down!

Agreed. Used it over the weekend to go step by step as my son and I made this excellent bread! Turned out nicely. Appreciated all the extra tips she added in. Like that it makes 4 loaves, because this is alot of effort! Be sure not to overbake it...check it at 1 hour to see how it's doing. Good to put aluminum foil on the top so it doesn't burn.

Mom made this every year at Christmas. We didn't have much but this was a very big deal in our home. She's gone now. I make it for Easter & Christmas. Hvala što si podijelio❤️

I’m Slovenian and my grandma used to make this all of the time. Funny thing is that they didn’t use margarine. I have the original recipe and they used butter. Luckily most people don’t use that awful stuff anymore. The video has margarine, I guess it was the time. Butter, bacon and eggs were bad!

Can you share the recipe? My family is from just south of Slovenia in Croatia. My great-grandmother passed, and we have no written recipe.

This was made as a copyrighted fundraising video for orphanages in Croatia to support the children of the Balkan wars. I hope that all of you who watch the video will make a small contribution to the address shown in the film.
