Honestly what made me tolerate the Handler is that she's most likely the youngest here, and she's actually smaller than the other humans,.. I dunno but that makes her that little bit more endearing to me, she's young and inexperienced but tries to do her best but because of her immaturity and inexperience on the field that leads her to be more reckless and excitable. IMO, I think if World had Sunbreak's follower system, our Handler would have easily been a follower, and honestly I think if she was physically by our side on the story hunts, people would have liked her way more.
Iirc, fluff wise, not all humans can be hunters. Hunters are lineages of genetically enhanced humans from the ancient civilization who were engineered to be able to fight monsters. The recoil from a heavy bowgun would tear off a normal person’s arm. Pretty sure the Handler is a basic human who keeps forgetting that she is very fragile due to excitement and being surrounded by super humans.
The best part is Henya raging at the Handler getting her Palico's hug. She's not wrong, though.
Pretty sure that was also the starting point for a lot of peoples dislike towards the Handler.
