I've watched a bunch of these boat show videos. I simply don't understand who this is being marketed to. Seriously, who is buying a boat like this for half a million? i don't understand how the recreational boat industry possibly stays afloat at these prices. people can't affod houses for this much and at least you can live in the house. what are there like 5 people with enough money to buy this?

They won't be for long. The people that can afford this boat can afford MUCH more.

I totally agree, I could purchase a nice house for that much, I understand the big boy custom boats but these production junk boat sold at marine max no thanks, that first sea Ray should cost about 100k if that

Believe me, the people you see in most of the boats on the water can’t afford them. They’re literally taking out loans for 180 months to make the payments! That’s 15 years! I call that a mortgage. The boating industry will collapse especially as people begin to have to make repairs to their boats while they’re still making payments.

Honestly it’s been this way for years - this is not a new phenomenon. Boats are a luxury and people who can afford them will continue to buy them and some people who can’t will over extend themselves to buy them. Long term 180 month loans have been around for decades for boats and there were even tax benefits for financing long term. Heck, people are actually taking out seven year loans on cars now! Would I do it? Absolutely not, but it’s capitalism.

A lot of us long time Sea Ray fans and owners have been saying for a while that Sea Ray has completely lost its way. For years people would start off with the smaller Sundancer and move up to the larger ones, all of which had a closed cabin which you could overnight or weekend in comfortably with a small family. They also could handle rougher water with a closed bow and with a camper canvas it was a three season boat. Now they seem to want to focus on these glorified day boats, even up to the 40 foot range. I guess they want to capture some of the Florida market but up north I don’t see people buying many of these.

Interesting, yeah, we don't see a ton of them here, well, we're seeing more and more of them. But we used to have a Sea Ray bow rider we would use for skiing, never got into the overnighting and tripping Sundancers like you have

@@BornAgainBoating Oh yes, many of us up north basically use our boats like a cabin - spendings days at the dock at the marina so a head and a galley are essential. For folks on smaller lakes, pontoons are the boat of choice where you can pile a bunch of folks on so I just don’t see a great fit for these types of boats.

Yeah I’ve owned a 1978 Sea Ray 220 over nighter since 91 fully restored it , shined up new .
Takes me to Catalina Island and surrounding areas we love Tuna fishing
and other Gamefish , I absolutely would never get an open bow unless you want to get wet , I never do with the closed bow , hardtop with fully enclosed wrap around windows . We overnight usually two nights with a forward V berth and a galley area that makes into another bed .sink stove running water ice box BBQ built in ice coolers this boat just works so good and all in a 22 ft boat .
I bought this for $6,000 with a trailer and not $150,000 . Just thought I’d share this. So yes buy used do some work spit shine it up and that’s how you get around the ridiculous prices .

sea ray was and still a great boat builder, but when they were purchased by Brunswick who tried to resell the company with a better profit but they failed, they just cut the best of the sea ray and limited them on those nonsense you see here just to keep them running!!!
PS: they still a top notch build quality boats...

$430k for a bowrider and all it has is a small wet bar? Who would buy this?

Half a mil and you can’t even overnight on it.

Why can't you sleep on this boat. I have no concern to buy a half million dollar boat and I have no desire to watch a video for one.

What are you trying to accomplice with all your recent vids? Is it a money grab? Go back to Tuesday Tech thing you did

It’s boat show season. Nothing wrong with making content showing what’s out on the market. Us folks up north appreciate these types of vids to tide us over until spring.

Seriously it’s getting annoying, I agree with you, if I want to know about a boat just go to the website, this is really stupid

    • @cheapme1850
      @cheapme1850 10 місяців тому +2

@@billjones3071 Isn’t that like saying if you want to learn about tech issues, just go to a repair manual? This is a good way to let folks know basically what’s on the market and then they can follow up for additional information later. Not all areas have boat shows with these types of boats and it’s good way of spreading info to those people.

Lol a money grab? Where's the money because I will definitely grab it if you just point me in the right direction :) And unfortunately you are really not going to like this weekend lol there's like 10 more boat show videos about to hit 3-4 a day! And out of the hundreds of videos we make a year, you aren't going to like every one of them, they aren't all made for you, there's tons of people out there that don't get to go to boat shows and see these different types of boats, and they are the ones that want these videos to be made, since they wanted them we are making them for them, so we are trying to help them and make them happy as well. I mean, you could always just unsubscribe for the weekend and then resubscribe on Monday when we get back to the Key West project lol

Very nice but who in the hell can afford any of them, none are affordable for 99 percent of folks, just outrageous prices,I wouldn’t give you 100,000 for any of them, that’s their value. How can you look anyone in the eyes and tell them the price,Should be in line with Bayliners
