Photoshop and Illustrator are just tools. I’ve seen people with poor skills in these tools having senior UX design positions. I’d start looking into Figma and learning user-centered design process.
Starting with UX design offers a strong foundation in understanding user needs, which is crucial when you later get into UI design to create functional interfaces. In the design process, UX typically comes first, focusing on user research and problem-solving. Then UI follows, bringing this understanding visually. It’s helpful to begin with UX and simultaneously start short UI tutorials, perhaps in a design tool like Figma, to familiarize yourself with both aspects of design. Hope it helps!
