i have heard some outstanding mridangam performances so far, but this one takes the cake. its all to the max, like a 1000 drums falling down an endless stairway producing endless variations.
Thanks in tons for sharing this. No way am I qualified to comment on this percussion ensemble. "Oru Inam theriyatha inbam", better to allow to be swept or overwhelmed by it. What a nadam in Kanjira too, of sri.Swaminatha Pillai, which we don’t nowadays get to hear. PMI sir held Swaminatha Pillai's father Pudukkottai Sri.Dhakshinamurthy Pillai in very high esteem and respect. (No less his son too). He usually referred to him as 'Mahavidwan Pudukkottai Sri.Dhakshinamurthy Pillai. Would love to hear the entire concert. 🙏
