Can you hear a difference? Which one do you prefer??
I have used Lakey for 7* so I like the sound on that one and I have on tenor a V16 8* metal och that is a good one and I think that won this contest but in your hands its all good!
I may be a bit biased as someone who has played on a couple of these mouthpieces. But to me the Vandoren and the Meyer sound similar but the Meyer has a slightly more straight-ahead balanced tone. Interesting because that v16 is much more expensive mouthpiece. I’ve played on a Lakey before and I find it to be very bright. But then again how one plays and one’s reed selection can also impact sound as well. I’m currently playing a Meyer 5M. I’m interested in keeping the same tone but a bit larger sound…so I was thinking about trying a Meyer with a larger opening.
Meyeeeeeeeer! Your sound was left with a lot of harmonics! Excellent combination
The Meyer, no doubt ! I have the same, and the vintage one. Otherwise depending on the situation, I play, Ponzol EBO 75, Guardala King, Theo Wanne Gaia, Jodi 6M, but mainly the Meyer and the Theo Wanne....
Each mouthpiece adjusted with its own reed strength that I find the best fit. With a trend towards Legere, I use bamboo reeds less and less.
Thank you for doing this appreciate it Bud!
I play on a purple label yas-62 myself, always been a fan of the Claude lakey. Pretty huge sound and cut through with that mouthpiece. Fits the yas-62 really well imo
Thanks. Very good sound. With "Equilibriym" of timbre.
Haha, Loved the face at 7:08. Aside from that I feel like no matter which mouthpiece, one can still hear the overall brightness that is typical for those older Yamaha horns. Would love to hear you on a Vintage Selmer or vintage American Horn. To my ears the Meyer was the clear winner. I might be biased though, as I have been playing a 6M Meyer for the past 15 years and only recently compared it to seven other mouthpieces only to notice that it is still the best one I own.
Anyway, keep up the great work!
I love that shop, I use to go there to get my reeds for touring.
Great playing. Like the energetic delivery style as usual. Would like to try one of these horns as they have such a good reputation. The Lakey sounds a touch thinner sounding to me though. You did not really say why you are no longer so happy with the Lakey? Maybe I missed it.
great video, great paying ! I like the Meyer most, maybe you need more tip opening
Meyer 5!!!!! Owned it!
The lakey runs tings all day long, great playing by the way
Vandoren A 5 is perfect 😍😊
Well worth another listen and i prefer the sound in reverse order .
Well presented video good work .
Thanks for checking it out!
Meyer my friend! 🇧🇷❤
Why did you go from the Eastman to the Yamaha? Thanks for a very interesting comparison. If you
want to put out some money, try Ted Klum´s Yard Bird metal. I play an 8, but the openings are 6, 7, 8.
That Meyer sounded delish!
It’s the OG!
@@DeMariusJackson I just tried my Meyer honestly I don’t know why I try anything else.
I prefer the Meyer. I guess because it has that certain sound that I associate with the alto I heard on recordings.
Sounds great! I like the Meyer 5. I used to play one until switching to a Meyer 7. A darker sound with more resistance. Do you still play the Eastman? I have one and really like it but sometimes go back to my other horn.
I’ve pretty much stuck to the Yamaha. But i still have the Eastman!!
Meyer is GOAT
Warburton. Clear but at the same time pretty closed and round.
Diferenças da v16 a5s vs a6s?
Meyer👍🏻
Meyer :)
0:45 LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
It seemed like that the vandoren sounded too much low on volume in comparision and it's strange, maybe It was really the reed's strenght fault.
Yeah…i sensed that as well!
What sound is this?
Yo escucho el mejor sonido con la Claude Lakey 4×4
You look like you really love playing that song
I do! I need to shed it some more
I am seriously considering the Claude Lakey 5*3 and Vandoren V16 A7S.
Both the Claude Lakey and Vandoren V16 sound awesome on your YAS-62. The V16 A5S+ seems to have a softer warmer...smokier sound while the 4*4 seems to be brighter with more volume.
Hearing the two in this video, I will probably go for the Vandoren V16 A7S+ I am considering.
Hello Brian !
I recommend vandoren a 5 !!
Much less buzz with the Vandoren.
I don’t think the difference is big once you start playing the song.
2:25 2:48 Lakey vs 4:16 4:47
