I had a similar upbringing and Im not LGBTQ. I felt like a slave, a piece of property. When I was 18, I got a job and moved into an apartment with friends. I cut off contact with my abusive family. It was extremely difficult to wait out those awful years with my family, until I was in a position to leave.
