Probably one of the best songs in the show, and that sure says a lot. It's a spectacle with Trix's amazing vocals making it a wonderful finale (on the record being played)/11:00 number (in the show we're seeing). Having the power outage right at the end is a lovely dose of "aw, come ON" for more humor, quite unexpected the first time just like the record skipping and Message From A Nightingale being from a different show entirely. It's abundantly clear that the whole production team for the show loves musicals, as it's a loving spoof of the 20's.
This an amazing cast from top to bottom, so well done. I'm always torn over the role of Trix, I feel like she could/should be a larger part in the show (especially one with such a GORGEOUS voice as the one in this video). One show I was a part of had her as one of the monkeys, but when you have someone with her vocal abilities (which are really required to pull off this song at the end), you'd think they'd give her a little more opportunity to show those off. Oh well, I love the show and as I said, this cast really brings it to life amazingly well. Bravo!
I mean, it was a "1920s" show so having a black actress as a lead was abit controversial which makes the fake musical abit more authentic. There's a video online that dives into the show based on the theme nostalgia
@@UmmOopsyalso in 2003 having a black actor as a lead in a predominantly white show especially period ones is and was heavily controversial (stupidly). Like even with anything goes in 2020 I heard people talking about their casting choices. (Which were incredible btw and Sutton returning was fabulous) but she definitely deserved more time singing I listen to this song by far more than others, except maybe Sutton’s because she is my fav lol.
This song seems to be crazy, but then you watch 1933's Flying Down to Rio, where there's an entire number of people doing a choreography on airplanes over Rio de Janeiro
Bob Martin has gone on record multiple times to confirm he's a closeted gay man. I can link the articles if you're interested, but it's made utterly obvious by the show itself.
@@anniespencer7879 I mean.....if it's a fictional character whose sad backstory is the crux of the show, I think we can safely say that it does matter.

I was doing The Drowsy Chaperone yesterday and the power actually went out right at the power outage.
I love how the 11:00 in your comment just highlights your points.
This is a weirdly poignant scene and it really hits me every time.

I got cast as trix in the musical at my high school and our show is on Friday I'm so excited!
Played the drum/percussion book for a production a few years back. It was a blast. As a pit musician, this has to be one of my favorite shows.
The "Musical Thetre Archive" has the best The drowsy chaperone musical. Go over there and watch it!
Nah this is the perfect og

The caption. Yes.
on Thursday night, I will be portraying the role of George in the drowsy chaperone.
VWHILE YOU CAN
@adampz I think hes drunk. But that may just be me
man in chair is not gay. his sexuality is never determined, just like his name, background, or worth.
I mean he clearly mentions his divorce from his wife ....so yeah its confirmed.

Does it really matter either way? People shouldn't be defined by their orientation.

Sutton forster
A black woman having a solo like this in like 2005 makes me SO happy, I hope to play Trix some day! 🫶🏾
