  • Wayne Couzens drove his own car and paid with his own credit card when he exposed himself on more than one occasion to female staff at a drive-through McDonalds. Today the Metropolitan Police apologised for failing to act in time to stop him before the murder of Sarah Everard.

None of the police officers in his whatsapp group, joking with a literal rapist and murder *about* rape, should be allowed to continue to serve as police officers. Until they are removed, any apologies from the met can't be taken seriously

As a public servant like a police officer (I'm a teacher), I couldn't agree more on this. Their casual language and invincible attitude about serious crimes very heavily implies they don't take these things seriously and effectively encouraged and enhanced his boldness. At the very least, a large number of them need to be suspended without pay and publicly named. THEY need to earn public trust back. If myself and colleagues behaved similarly we would be rightly ripped to shreds.

And still it continued, and continues. The way the gathering in the next days was abused, the women mishandled by the same police, and on and on it has gone. The way #EveryonesInvited has been kicked into the long grass by the NSPCC. It's not just about data gathering, it's what you do about it. Or not.

Both politicians and Met police must be told that apologies don't cut the mustard. Politicians get voted into office to act in the "public GOOD". The same applies to the police. Therefore: DO THE JOB, YOU KNOW WHAT IS AMISS and then show us what you have done. APOLOGIES - pr tool used all too often - DON'T COUNT AS AN ACHIEVEMENT! Now wake up...don't just smell the coffee but drink it!

This is so heartbreaking for Sarah’s family knowing he could of been stopped, time & time again they let things happen to make a change when they shouldn’t wait until someone has lost their life they are here to protect the public now I understand why so many people have lost faith in the police in this country & don’t even bother calling them anymore & that’s just sad because that’s what they are paid to do

After watching the details on how they caught him , I was extremely blown away by the meticulous planning and assurity he displayed afterwards as if he was 100% CONFIDENT that Sarahs murder would never be linked to him .. and the breadcrumbs he left led them straight to his front door . I saw something recently where he was brought back into court and wanted to appeal the charges and said it's not fair that he should be incarcerated for life . LOL 😂

I can't really see the point of prosecuting for this, he's never going to be released anyway. It doesn't seem like the best use of the courts time. Yes of course you can still look at lessons learn to be learned. I also wouldn't assume that flashing leads to be more serious crimes. Yes it's something that action should be taken, but the idea that flashing is something that most kidnappers and murderers do doesn't sound very convincing. I don't see the link.
